Is Your Podcast Music Podsafe?

Most, if not all podcasters would tell you that they’d prefer to have a musical theme for their podcast show but getting one isn’t simple nor easy. The audio material doesn’t just have to be good, but also Podsafe.

Podsafe music is simply any music or sound byte which license specifically allows its use in podcasting. Below is a list of sites you can check out to get Podsafe music for your podcast.

Instant Music Now – This provides professional digital quality background theme music for purchase. Podcasters must voice over the music in intervals of 30 seconds or less. In other words podcasters cannot allow any music segments that exceed 30 seconds in length without any additional commentary.

Podcast Themes – If you want your own original track or sound for your podcast, check out Podcast Themes. The site is run by Mark Blasco, and he’ll do all the hard work for you, at a price of course. Head over to his site to know more about his service.

Opuzz – Opuzz is probably the simplest way to get royalty-free music for your podcast. You only pay for the music once and that’s it! No additional fees, no frills.

NeoSounds – NeoSounds provides royalty-free music that starts at around $7 a clip and $1.65 for sound effects. Do note however that using some of the music you get there requires you to fill in and submit a cue sheet.

To know a little more about what Podsafe is, you can read about it over at good ol’ Wikipedia.

How to Record an Online Interview for Your Podcast

When doing live interviews, the face-to-face process is the still best way. But if your guest isn’t available on the said schedule, you can solve this problem by conducting it online via Skype.

Here are some tips to get quality results if you are planning to conduct a Skype interview for your video/audio podcast.

  1. Get yourself good audio resources and recording tools. Check out Call Recorder for Mac, Total Recorder for Windows, Soundflower, Audio Hijack, Audion, Powergramo and Pamela Recorder which is available to both Mac and Windows.
  2. Before you start, test the levels and quality of your video and audio. Check if there is feedback, echoes and unnecessary noise so editing will be a lot easier. This will also prevent you from redoing the interview which is a hassle to your interviewee. Use earphones instead of speakers while recording to hear all the details.
  3. Focus on your interview by looking only at the camera or at your interviewee’s video display position.
  4. Keep a good flow of the conversation. Stay relaxed because it's better for your interview. Crack some jokes from time to time as icebreakers if you think the discussion is moving off-track.
  5. Be wary of the time. Podcasts usually take 25-45 minutes so keep aware of your time. If it takes longer and you think you’ve already covered everything, you may end it or stress that you are conducting a very important interview. You can then split it up into a two-part episode to keep it interesting for your listeners or viewers.

Angelina Jolie’s Leg Steals the Night at the Oscars

At the 2012 Oscars, Brad may have his film nominated twice but Angelina stole the night and made the headlines. Angie, known for keeping a low-key personality on the red carpet, emphasized the high slit of her Versace gown on Sunday by blatantly displaying her right leg. And onstage, she flaunted it once more when she presented an award. This sparked Jim Rosh, screenwriter of “The Descendants” to strike the same Angelina pose later, also onstage.

The 'legbombing' is the latest trend today, and pranksters just can’t get over it! That leg has gained so much overnight attention that it now has its own Twitter page. For more leggy fun, click on the pic above to see Jim Rash's vid, then decide for yourself if Angie's move was classy or trashy.

The band is the brainchild of composer David Grimoire and lyricist Adrian de Crow. The making of the album was said to be inspired by the stage play The Name of the Rose. It consists of gothic symphonic metal music and features Snowy Shaw (King Diamond, Mercyful Fate, Notre Dame, Therion, Dimmu Borgir), Mats Levén (Kryx, Therion), Niklas Isfeldt (Dream Evil), Jake E (Amaranthe, Dreamland) and Camilla Alisander-Ason on vocals, daemonic voices and ghoulish sounds. Personally I’m not really that much of a dark metal rock fan but listening to just a couple of their songs in this album actually did make me want to look forward to listening to their next!

Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck: It’s A Boy!

Last 27 February 2012, actress Jennifer Garner gave birth to a bouncing baby boy, and for once, his name is actually normal!

Deviating from the trend of Hollywood's hifalutin, fashionista, and dare I say, pretentious baby names, Jennifer and hubby Ben Affleck decided to name their third child Samuel Garner Affleck.
