The Nike Air Yeezy II, designed by rapper Kanye West, hit the stores on June 9th and sneaker freaks have lined up even if its retail price is a whopping $375. 18 pairs of the sneakers were up for grabs at Los Angeles’ Undefeated boutique that got fans camping out since Monday night. The shoe went for $90,300 on Ebay before its release.
It is the second version of Air Yeezy which debuted in 2009. The design comes in platinum and black, features anaconda-textured leather, glow-in-the-dark soles and is molded from Kanye’s own foot.
It has caused a big frenzy among sneaker fanatics that it’s kicking butt.
Christian San Juan, manager at the said L.A. store, said in an interview, “Kanye West has a lot of influence on these kids. Air Yeezy 1 was just as bad, [but] the Air Yeezy 2 was actually more limited than the last one. We’ve been getting calls for past couple months, this week, I estimated about 40 calls every hour until today.”
According to Nike, they will only release it in limited numbers at selected global retailers.
