This year’s San Diego Comic-Con has just concluded and it sure didn’t disappoint the people who attended as lots of movie-related revelations were made. Some we already expected before the event even started (e.g. Iron Man 3, The Hobbit, etc.) and then there were also a few which we didn’t. One of them was the teaser trailer for the upcoming Godzilla film from Legendary/Warner Bros.
That’s right. Seems like the iconic radioactive gigantic lizard will be making a return to the Hollywood studios once again, only this time it’ll be under the direction of Gareth Edwards, the one who brought us Monsters back in 2010.
This one received so much buzz across the community on the web because, aside from catching everyone on the event off-guard, not a single person managed to catch the trailer on video. The best thing anyone can get on the web so far is a picture (shown above).
Here’s a description of the footage that was shown:
“A city decimated. Completely destroyed. The camera pans by the wreckage of a train and the distant voice of J. Robert Oppenheimer (father of the atomic bomb) is heard reading from the Bhagavad Gita – “Now, I am become death”. Dust everywhere. Cars crushed. Holes in skyscrapers.
We then see a giant centipede like creature with many arms and legs smoldering. (You know what that means? Monster battles!) The city appears dead as a door nail. Then blackness. THE ROAR. As in THE roar. Huge Bass drop. Raymond Burr finishes his famous speech. Dust…then an arm… a hand… with claws. Pan up… holy shit… the fins. The head. Godzilla. As we know him. The real f-cking Godzilla. He roars again.
Fade to GODZILLA! With Red Japanese title behind it!”
The movie is set for a 2014 release. Here’s the video of the Godzilla panel from the Comic-Con below:
