Beyonce and Jay-Z’s application for trademark protection for their 10-month-old baby’s name, Blue Ivy, was denied after the US Patent and Trademark Office ruled in favor of an event-planning company that has already been operating for three years under the moniker of Blue Ivy Events.

Company owner Veronica Alexander filed her own application for fear of going out of business if she were no longer able to use the name. She says that she holds no grudge against the celebrity couple for attempting to trademark the name.
“I can’t be frustrated with something I think is going to bring me to produce and define my brand even more, which is financially exciting in itself and intellectually exciting as well. It’s like they caused me to create more opportunity for myself,” she told the Boston Herald. Alexander also admitted that she would “welcome” an offer from the couple to relinquish her rights to the ‘Blue Ivy’ name.
Beyonce and Jay-Z submitted a petition to trademark Blue Ivy’s name just shortly after their daughter was born in January. Reports say that the 31-year-old singer was also planning on using the said name for the line of baby products that she intended to launch somewhere in the near future, but I guess due to the recent developments, that plan might have to wait a little longer.
15-year-old Kick Ass star Chloe Grace Moretz almost didn’t get the lead role in the Carrie remake because she was too young (the character was 17/18 years old). MGM didn’t want to deal with filming and timing restrictions brought on by her age. However, after several meetings and auditions, she impressed director Kimberly Peirce into giving her the role of the bullied schoolgirl.
If at first you didn’t get the idea behind Brad Pitt’s latest TV ad for Chanel No. 5, don’t worry, you’re not alone. It was so weird that it didn’t take long before celebs like Conan O’Brien and Leif Garrett put their own spin on it.

Of course, you can always count on the people at Saturday Night Live to come up with a cool parody and spoof of anything at all, and the man who was tasked to play Mr. Pitt? It’s none other than Taran Killam.
Here’s the original ad with Brad Pitt:
Now here’s the one of SNL's four spoofs, with Taran reciting Pitt’s original lines:
Personally, I agree with fans that Taran is definitely a dead ringer of Brad. Even YouTubers couldn’t resist taking a shot at making their own parodies as well. Here’s one of my favorites:
Radio shock jock Howard Stern has just made a promise to his fellow radio host Bubba the Love Sponge that he’ll try to get ex-WWE star Hulk Hogan to drop his lawsuit against him regarding the recent sex tape scandal involving Bubba’s now-ex-wife and the former wrestler. “I’m getting you out of this lawsuit,” Stern told Bubba on his SiriusXM show Wednesday.

“I will get Hogan and Bubba together,” Stern vowed. “I think what Bubba is saying is making a lot of sense. I think if Hogan could hear it and I can translate a little bit and calm everyone down, I think we could see through this… I think I can get Hulk Hogan to take out of this lawsuit.”
Hogan accuses Bubba of being the one behind the sex tape's release and how it ended up on Gawker despite Bubba’s claim that he has nothing to do with its release. Hogan filed an invasion of privacy lawsuit against the radio jock last Monday and is still hard-pressed on moving forward with the charges.
Bubba, whose real name is Todd Clem, has also at one time called the Hulkster a “hypocritical fraud”, claiming that the WWE-star is trying to play victim No. 1 when the real victim was his then-wife, Heather. He said that the wrestler was aware of the surveillance video that time and he very well knew of what was going on.
It seems like the wheels are falling off for Lance Armstrong. The cyclist, who was once one of US’ greatest sporting heroes of all time after winning seven Tour de France titles, was fired by Nike for misleading them for over a decade of using performance-enhancing drugs. The dismissal of Armstrong after a ten-year relationship with the sneaker superpower has resulted in his name being taken off the Lance Armstrong Fitness Center at its world headquarters.
On the same day, Armstrong stepped down as the chairman of his cancer-fighting charity, the Livestrong Foundation saying, “I have had the great honor of serving as this foundation’s chairman for the last five years and its mission and success are my top priorities. Today therefore, to spare the foundation any negative effects as a result of controversy surrounding my cycling career, I will conclude my chairmanship.”
Both moves from Nike and Livestrong came one week after U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) released a huge file of evidence against Armstrong which showed him using banned drugs to gain advantage throughout his cycling career.
Nike states, "Due to the seemingly insurmountable evidence that Lance Armstrong participated in doping and misled Nike for more than a decade, it is with great sadness that we have terminated our contract with him. Nike does not condone the use of illegal performance enhancing drugs in any manner."

Last Tuesday, October 16, the Dancing With The Stars celebrity Kate Gosselin was fired by Scott Kluth, a CEO of CouponCabin, after 11 months of contributing as a blogger. According to the CEO, “A series of recent events have made it clear to me that Kate Gosselin and her contributions do not align with the authenticity which we set out to build almost a decade ago, and that Ms. Gosselin is simply not a good fit with the wonderful team and culture at CouponCabin."
She has been trying to peddle a new reality show based on her family since Kate Plus 8 was cancelled in August 2011, but was met with little success.
The CEO noted that Gosselin's "contributions garnered both positive attention and criticism" during her 11 months at CouponCabin.
"I respect and appreciate your candid opinions, which often encourage us not to lose sight of our mission - to help YOU save money. We wish Kate, her family and her support staff all the best," was his statement about Kate to her fans on the website.
Letterman will join comedian Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Tracy Morgan as guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when he goes on tour to his hometown in Brooklyn. Kimmel, who grew up idolizing Letterman, used to wear a Late Night With David Letterman jacket and celebrate his birthday with "Late Night" cake when he was younger.
During an interview with THR in 2011, Kimmel jokingly said, "I mean, I'd draw Dave's face on every book cover. I was like a teenage girl in love with him".
Looking forward to this episode. It will definitely rock the house down.
Barack Obama believes that American Idol judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, who are self-proclaimed supporters of the Democratic party, will sort it out.
In a recent phone interview the Commander-in-Chief told Michael Yo of The Yo Show that Mariah and Nicki will be able to solve the conflict between them.
“I think that they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident. I’m all about bringing people together, working for the same cause. I think both outstanding artists are going to be able to make sure that they’re moving forward and not going backwards,” Obama said.
The President also expressed his preference for one of the artists. "Mariah, she's actually done some events for us. I've gotten to know her and Nick (Cannon), she's a wonderful lady," he says. While he doesn’t know Nicki personally, he added, “Nicki I don't know, but I've got her on my iPod."
As you may recall, Nicki Minaj has recently gotten some press for allegedly endorsing Obama's presidential opponent Mitt Romney in one of Lil Wayne's tracks Mercy, but confirmed later that she was being sarcastic.
Listen to Obama’s interview in The Yo Show about Mariah and Nicki’s feud.
Here’s something that still-hopeful bachelors would love to hear, recent reports say that 27-year-old Hollywood sex symbol Scarlett Johansson has now split up with her boyfriend of one year Nate Taylor, according to a source.
“She broke up with him last week,” said the source, “He’s pretty upset but the writing was on the wall. A lot of people were surprised it lasted this long.” Some speculate that the life in the public eye has already taken its toll on Taylor.
Meanwhile, interested male fans have already expressed their interest on the Internet (particularly in Twitterverse) in filling the shoes that Nate has now left vacant.
I joke about my love of Scarlett Johansson a lot, but the real joke lies in the fact that I secretly think I have a chance with her.
