Ted Forbes hosts The Art of Photography video podcast and in this episode, he talks about the push and pull processing techniques, which change the film’s look. The pushing technique results in a higher contrast and is grainier, while pulling results in a lower contrast and less grain.
For photographers who need more speed for lowlight situations, the pushing technique is very handy. Meanwhile, pulling can be good for digital and darkroom post-processing because it produces a finer negative with lower contrast.
