American reporter and White House Correspondent Sam Donaldson from ABC News had a run-in with a cop after failing to maintain his lane when driving his car in Delaware.

Last December 1, the veteran news anchor was taken into police custody on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic transgression. He failed a field sobriety test performed by the officer when signs of drunkenness were detected.

He is scheduled for an arraignment Friday, December 21.

The respected ABS news anchor once proclaimed to the Academy Of Achievement about the importance of discipline in life.

“Now, discipline doesn’t mean that you’re a martinet, and discipline doesn’t mean that you have to do everything anyone in authority tells you in lock-step because you can’t think for yourself. But discipline means that you’ve got to organize your life in everything you do, for your own benefit and for the benefit of people around. If the appointment is at four o’clock, you ought to show up at four o’clock. If you’re unavoidably late a few minutes, okay. But the person who shows up at five o’clock or six o’clock and doesn’t think anything of it, that person is an undisciplined person,” he said.

Sam is presently living in McLean, Va. The former White House correspondent has formally abdicated from his position as a regular anchor on ABC News, but still appears on the news programs of the network as a contributor.
