It is now quite apparent that CNN host Piers Morgan has struck a nerve with a huge number of gun advocates in the United States for being outspoken about his stance on gun control… perhaps too outspoken that about 65,000 Americans have already signed a petition for the government to send him back to the United Kingdom.

The online petition, which can be found over at the White House website, was started in Texas (surprise surprise) on December 21 after Morgan’s interview with Gun Owners of America director, Larry Pratt.

The petition accuses the British talkshow host and former Daily Mirror editor of being “engaged in a hostile attack” against the Second Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees the rights to bear arms.

It states, “We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

Morgan seems unfazed by the movement, however, as he expresses his sentiments (i.e. amusement) for it in a series of tweets.

What is your take on the issue? Do you think Morgan should be deported, or is the petition an overreaction to his stance, and why? Post it on the comments section below.
