2012 certainly ended well for the winner of the inaugural season of the television series American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, who proudly showed off her engagement ring just hours after announcing her engagement to talent manager Brandon Blackstock via Twitter last Saturday, December 15.
I'M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y'all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever
Last November, Kelly told Ellen DeGeneres that she could see herself being Mrs. Blackstock in the near future. She said, "We love each other. We are totally going to get married one day. No, he has two children and I'm new ... I mean, he's got to put it a ring on it at some point. But I'll wait it out."
Clarkson's fiancé is the son of her longtime manager, Narvel Blackstock, and stepson of country songstress Reba McEntire. Last March it was reported that Clarkson and Blackstock had started dating, and now live together in Nashville.

Conservative group Parents Television Council (PTC) has called on the TV Parental Guidelines Monitoring Board (PGMB) to change the current rating for AMC’s The Walking Dead TV series from TV-14 to TV-MA.
The media watchdog claims that the show is rated “inaccurately” and inappropriately for young audiences. “Throughout its run, the AMC program The Walking Dead has featured some of the most graphic and brutally intense violence and gore imaginable,” PTC president Tim Winter said in a written statement while also pointing out the show’s use of profanity.
“The intensely violent has included depictions of the cleaving of human skulls with a machete, extreme gun violence including graphic depictions of blood and brains splattering after gunshot wounds, and the use of a sharpened human bone as a weapon to stab another character,” Winter continued.
A letter was also written by Winter to PGMB chairman Gordon Smith stating, “Clearly, this is content appropriate to an adult-only audience, but AMC has rated every single episode of The Walking Dead as suitable for a 14-year-old child.”
AMC has yet to release a response regarding PTC’s statement. Its zombie apocalypse series has just finished airing its mid-season finale on December 2 and is currently on a winter break. The series will resume on February 2013.
What do you guys think? Should the board change the show’s rating? Share your opinions in the comment section below.

A New Mexico state police investigation managed to uncover a plot involving the murder of young pop sensation Justin Bieber. According to KRQE-TV news, two men were arrested after a convicted killer by the name of Dana Martin confessed about his plan on having the 18-year-old Canadian singer killed together with three other unnamed individuals.

45-year-old Martin, who’s now serving two life sentences, revealed to the police that he hired two men for the job while he was in state prison: Marke Staake, 41, and his nephew Tanner Ruane, 23. In his affidavit, he asked Staake and Ruane to kill all four targets by strangulation using a paisley tie, Martin’s so-called 'calling card.'
Martin and Staake met while both were serving time at the Southern New Mexico Correctional Facility. After getting out of prison, Staake then recruited his nephew Ruane. They intended to carry out the plan and catch Bieber in between his concerts at the Madison Square Guarden on November 28 and 29.
In the statement, Martin also requested that the four people be killed in two separate attacks where the first two victims were to be castrated as well (with Staake getting paid a total of $2,500 per testicle). And contrary to earlier reports, it didn’t say that the third victim, referred to as “J.B.” and thus believed to be Bieber, was also to be castrated.
Staake was arrested by federal agents on November 19 in Vermont on violation of felony probation for aggravated burglary, according to News10 ABC. Ruane on the other hand, was arrested at a gas station in New York the following day where he was also found with the murder tools and documents containing information about the intended victims.
Now here’s an idea that I personally found amusing and very interesting, it’s a podcast program that you can actually listen to together with your children. It’s called Apps for Kids and it’s a show about cool smartphone apps for kids and parents alike.
This show will be definitely right up your alley especially if you have a tech-savvy kid. Hosted by Mark Frauenfelder and his 9-year-old daughter Jane, each episode runs in just under 10 minutes where they review and talk about a particular mobile app. If you want an honest review from someone that can speak for the technology’s target market then you got it courtesy of Jane.
Since Christmas is coming maybe now might also be a good time for you to give your children that paid app that they’ve been asking you to purchase for them, yes? I’m just saying it to give you some additional options for a holiday treat.
Apps for Kids is one of two podcast programs featured in Boing Boing, a group blogging site, the other one being Gweek.
In this featured episode, Mark and Jane talk about an app called The Big Big Castle, a game where you build and destroy castles. To find out what they think about the game, listen in on the embedded audio below.
After receiving a lukewarm audience response to the Superman reboot in 2006, the iconic superhero is back and ready to hit the movie screens with the release of Man of Steel next year. Henry Cavill will play the superhero and the new trailer of Zack Snyder's take of the franchise has just been released.
In the latest movie trailer, we see Clark Kent as a child whose superpowers are beginning to manifest and tries to hide it from his schoolmates to the time he grows up and decides whether to share it with the world.
Man of Steel will be released on 14th of June 2013.
It seems like the holiday season’s spirit of giving has already begun to manifest itself in Hollywood in the form of Charlie Sheen. The Anger Management actor just recently wrote a check worth $75,000 to help fund the treatment of a cop’s 10-year-old daughter’s cancer.
Sheen learned about the girl’s condition when he got into a conversation with an officer in Hermosa Beach about life. The cop casually mentioned that he was trying to raise money for a co-worker whose daughter was trying to battle Childhood Rhabdomyosarcoma, a form of cancer that attacks soft tissue in a child’s face and requires chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
“No parent should have to watch their kid go through that,” Sheen reportedly said about the police officer.
The Hermosa Beach Police Association, which funds the girl’s treatment received the check earmarked for the officer’s daughter the next day. Plus, according to TMZ, Sheen’s stunt double, Eddie Braun, also donated $25,000 to help out upon hearing the story from Sheen.
This isn’t the only charitable act the former Two and a Half Men star did as of late. Recently, he also gave Scary Movie 5 co-star Lindsay Lohan $100,000 to help her with her tax problem. Reports say that Lohan still has yet to express her thanks to the actor’s token of goodwill.
50-year-old Tom Cruise will celebrate a very merry Christmas in LA with daughter Suri, sans estranged wife Katie Holmes, plus his other two kids after spending Thanksgiving with them in London while working on movie projects.
During the premiere of Jack Reacher in London, he said, "We have got lots of very special things planned (for the holidays). We are all going to be together. I am looking forward to it."
Tom has allotted most of his time working in the UK, admitting that he has also taken time out to enjoy himself. He has been staying in London since August to wrap up his upcoming movie, All You Need Is Kill.
"I love it here. I have made so many films here and I have worked with so many of the actors here. It is a wonderful place to live," he commented. "I am shooting a film over here ... seven days a week. But I feel great. It doesn't take up all my time, but I have a very busy schedule and I like it that way."
