Let’s face it, there is hardly any anticipation for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, even more so after news broke out that Ben Affleck has been signed up to play the role of Batman in the same film. But now Warner Bros. may have just regained some of that lost hope from some of the [DC] fans back by casting Bryan Cranston as Lex Luthor, Superman’s arch-nemesis. According to Cosmic Book News, the Breaking Bad star has signed a deal with WB wherein he’s expected to appear in at least six [inter-connected] films as the bald villain.

Although the article said that an official announcement will be made right after Breaking Bad’s conclusion this final season, everything’s just rumor as of this writing considering that a few netizens have already pointed out that the source (Cosmic Book News) is like The Onion of comic-related news.
But nonetheless, wouldn’t it be neat if it is indeed true? Sure, Cranston may be a little weathered for the character but it’s almost impossible to think of a better actor to be cast as Lex Luthor. Cranston’s as Walter White in Breaking Bad possesses pretty much the same traits as the renowned super villain: evil, smart, and bald. Heck, I don’t think I’d even mind if he even still sports the goatee while playing Luthor!
In earlier rumors, another actor who was also considered to play the role of Lex Luthor along with Cranston was Mark Strong but Cosmic Book News’ Matt McGloin thinks that the probable reason why hStrong was dropped was because he was already Sinestro (opposite Ryan Reynolds in 2001’s Green Lantern) – though he could still reprise the role again, so who knows?
