Before Marvel released The Avengers, its rival, DC’s Justice League, has already got a script back in 2007 and was ready for work. Good thing it didn’t materialize. Marvel may have edged DC cinematically since then, but a great script that would equal or surpass The Avengers is worth waiting for.

The cancelled full script, written by Kieran and Michel Mulroney and was intended for George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal was leaked online via Superhero Movies News. The storyline follows the dream team of Superman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, and is based on the following comic books - JLA: Tower of Babel, Superman: Sacrifice, and Crisis on Infinite Earth #8.
If it pushed through back then, it would have focused on these super heroes as they struggled with their own interpersonal relationships.
The company has even named the cast members that include Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, D.J. Corona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash and rapper Common as Green Lantern. The production, meanwhile, could have been shot down under but due to some problems – change in Australia’s tax rebate incentive, budget went up to over $200 million, writer’s strike and others, it was scrapped in 2010 after multiple delays.
As far as the cast is concerned, it drew negative responses from fans which was a blessing in disguise because after it was canned, Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Dark Night got released and the rest was history. With Batman’s huge success at the box office, it would be a tough act to follow. But as we now know, there will be a Justice League film, just wait a little longer.
