It’s confirmed: Sherlock Holmes is alive. So if you’re one of those eagerly awaiting the return of the quintessential supersleuth, Sherlock season three is just a few weeks away! And to make the wait sweeter — or more agonizing — BBC has just released its newest trailer.

In the video clip, we see the famed Mr. Holmes returning to his base of operations after long being presumed dead, and clearly it's unsettling news for his associates. It is also suggested that London will be the target of a terrorist attack, and Holmes is the only person in the city who can mitigate the impending destruction.

While being a fan of both Benedict Cumberbatch and the fictitious detective, I confess I had lost some steam while watching season 2 of the series. Sherlock season 1 is extremely punchy when it comes to plot development, storytelling, and general rapport between the supporting and main characters, especially Holmes and Dr. John Watson.

In the first episode of season two, Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) made a powerful entrance, and I enjoyed how they tailored her character to match Holmes' in wit, incisiveness, intelligence, and hairdo. Sadly the pace significantly slowed down for me after that, so after Holmes' supposed demise in which he may have occupied his time dueling in space, leaking top-secret government documents, and turning into a fire-breathing dragon, his resurrection into the London scene is certainly a welcome sight.

You may or may not agree with me about the past two seasons of Sherlock, but I sure would love to hear your thoughts on the season three trailer (#SherlockLives) in the comments below.
