Mark Balelo, star of TV hit Storage Wars, was found dead in his car after he committed suicide.

The 40-year-old Portuguese-born reality star ingested a lethal dose of carbon monoxide after staying in his car and leaving the motor running. The report obtained by TMZ stated that one of his employees found his body in Simi Valley, California Monday morning.

The actor has been arrested for a drug-related offense last Saturday and the next day he reportedly was visited by his fiancé, responding to his request to come see him. Police are investigating his death.

According to his A&E bio, he lived with his family in Brazil when he was 3 to 14 years old and went to work on one of his family’s tuna boats. He eventually moved to San Diego, Calif., then Newport Beach, finally moving up to L.A., where he earned a lot of money from his expensive European cars he sold – until the economic crash five years ago.

Then the actor said he started “selling things on eBay from home. It started as a hobby and quickly turned into an empire. I grew tremendously fast with over $1,000,000 in sales in the first six months of opening the new business. Balelo, Inc. now employs over 50 people with several locations.”

HMV Shuts Down 16 Ireland Stores, 300 Jobs Lost

The shops had been put into receivership and the staff was recently placed on temporary lay-off but will now be made redundant. Deloitte, the HMV administrator, asked the Ireland operation to close down the stores and seek for a buyer but the company declared that the efforts have not proved successful.

According to Eurogamer.net, “The Receiver to HMV Ireland Limited, David Carson of Deloitte, today confirmed with regret that the 16 stores, which were closed by HMV Ireland prior to receivership, will not reopen. All 300 staff, previously placed on temporary lay-off, will now be made redundant.”

In a statement to the Irish Examiner, the company said, “Since his appointment, the receiver has conducted an assessment of the viability of the company and has actively sought a sale. The marketplace is very difficult given competition from web-based retailers and digital downloads, compounded by a number of other factors including high levels of rent. All stores were loss-making and it was not possible to attract a purchaser. All stores were loss making and it was not possible to attract a purchaser.”

In the coming months, 66 store outlets will be closing in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales, threatening 930 jobs, as well as terminating the contracts of 190 employees at the company’s headquarters. This has led to a backlash against the company over at Twitter.

Apple Experiments on the iWatch

According to a report from the New York Times, Apple is working on a smart wristwatch-like device, dubbed it as iWatch, which will be released soon.

Apple is currently testing the watch at its Cupertino basement company. Aside from running on Apple’s iOS platform, one of the watch’s possible unique features is its bendable glass strap made of Corning Willow, developed by Corning Inc.

Pete Bocko, CTO for Corning, says of the bendable glass, “You can certainly make it wrap around a cylindrical object and that could be someone’s wrist. Right now, if I tried to make something that looked like a watch, that could be done using this flexible glass.”

There is still room for improvement as far as the material’s flexibility and durability are concerned. “The human body moves in unpredictable ways,” Bocko explains. “It’s one of the toughest mechanical challenges.””

Aside from this cutting-edge strap and body, the new iWatch’s features — such as apps, map, software, functions, and price — are something to be watched out for.

Will Next Xbox Require Always-on Kinect?

Will the next-generation Xbox now require Kinect at all times?

According to a report over at Kotaku, not only will the new console, aka Durango, be able to track up to six individuals at once and require game installations but will only work when the new version of the Kinect sensor array is plugged in.

The skeletons tracked with the new Kinect will be more advanced than the current sensor. It has the ability to sense individual finger movements and even facial expressions. The technology may be related to a patent documented by Microsoft a year ago for parental controls and limiting the number of viewers for content, based on Kinect tracking data.

The current Xbox may not be compatible with the new console, according to Kotaku’s report. Other applications and games that Durango is going to have sound really impressive for a console but if the required Kinect connection is true for the next Xbox console to work, buyers are likely to have an issue with that.

The alleged Xbox 720 patent filings propose Microsoft’s next console that feature two CPUs — one for gaming and another for different applications. The filings support some of the specific aspect discovered within a set of alleged leaked Xbox 720 documents from 2010. The 56-page set was removed from the web following an intercession by Microsoft’s legal team.

Helicopter crash

Three men, who were filming a new reality TV series set to air on the Discovery Channel, were killed in a helicopter crash early Sunday morning that took place at Polsa Rosa Ranch, in northern Los Angeles County. Discovery said, “A production company was shooting a show for Discovery Channel when this tragic accident occurred. We are all cooperating fully with authorities. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families.”

The three victims of the crashed helicopter have been officially identified: pilot David Gibbs, 59 and cameraman and cinematographer Darren Rydstrom, 45, and Michael Donatelli, 45, of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

The three men were shooting footage for Untitled Military Project. They reportedly tried to escape from the Jet Ranger helicopter they were on when it crashed at 3:42 A.M.

Gibbs, Rydstrom, and Donatelli were employed by Eyeworks USA, the company renowned for The Biggest Loser series. They got the authorization to film a helicopter landing and takeoff at the site from Film L.A., which issued the permit but did not have a monitor on the set, although an advisor from the L.A. Fire Department was there on standby.

Steven Seagal Trains Arizonans to Protect Schools from Shooting Incident

news

Controversial sheriff Joe Arpaio enlisted the combat services of action star Steven Seagal to train volunteers as part of a plan using armed guards to protect schools against shooting incidents.

During the training at a school in Fountain Hills, Arpaio’s staff members reportedly planned to run practice drills with fake gunmen while Seagal guided 48 volunteers in hand-to-hand defense tactics through different techniques.

According to Reuters, Seagal said, “I am here to try to teach the posse firearms and martial arts to try to help them learn how to respond quicker and help protect our children.”

Arpaio’s 3,450-strong posse of unpaid men and women have helped the authorities undertake crime for years. Some members of this posse are qualified to carry the same guns as sheriff’s deputies, and can use them under life-and-death situations. His tough position on crime and illegal immigration has made him well-known across America.

Seagal served as a deputy for the Jefferson Parish sheriff in Louisiana, as covered in his reality show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

Rowan Atkinson Receives £900k From Insurers’ Payout

Rowan Atkinson received a giant bill worth £900,000 as payment from car insurers to fix his McLaren F1.

Mr Bean’s shoulder was damaged when he rammed his beloved McLaren F1 on the A605 near Haddon, Cambridgeshire two years ago, but the insurance bill is thought to be the highest ever in the UK.

According to Sky News, Ben Stagg from specialist insurer RK Harrison said, “All modern supercars are predominantly carbon fibre – most Lamborghinis, most Ferraris – and the smallest ding in carbon fibre is a big repair job.”

“And part of the engine bay is gold, that’s the best heat conductor. It’s the materials they used compared to everyday cars that make it so expensive. It depresses me when great cars are hidden away. It’s a crime not to use it.”

Classic & Sportscar magazine editor Alastair Clements praises the 58-year-old Atkinson for actually loving his car. “He let us do the story because he wanted other enthusiasts to know that he loves it, that he isn’t just some celebrity with an expensive car, that he’s owned it for 15 years and loved it for 15 years. He’s put it back exactly as it was. He’s a bit of a hero. It’s much more than the value.”

It took a year to restore his damaged car which is worth more than £3M, and now Atkinson’s annual insurance premium could be as high as £60,000 following his claim. Last year, he spoke in an interview about what he learned from crashing his beloved car.

Newtown Children’s Choir To Sing ‘Call Me Maybe’ for Grammys

A children’s choir from Newtown, Conn. who recently recorded their rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow will be singing Carly Rae Jepsen‘s mega-hit Call Me Maybe during the Grammys Red Carpet this coming Sunday.

According to Tim Hayes who co-produced the recording, the children will then be interviewed by the American Idol host Ryan Seacrest via satellite during the E!’s Live From the Red Carpet preshow. Sabrina Post, the director of the Newtown Children’s Choir said, “This opportunity to do something positive lets the kids know that although a lot of things happen in our world that are not pleasant, like this that happened with us in Newtown, there are many giving people and wonderful things that can come out of life, so don’t get discouraged. It teaches them to use their gifts to work through things.”

The choir consists of 21 kids who are trying to help their community overcome the scars from the Sandy Hook massacre through their musical talents.

The kids have been in the public eye quite a bit recently, performing on ABC’s Good Morning America and at a benefit concert that featured artists such as Paul Simon and Johnny Winter. Hayes clarified that “they don’t have plans to record anything else, or have the kids make any more public appearances.”

“We know the kids involved have had a wonderful experience, but we think this chapter is now done, and we want these kids to get back to being kids,” Hayes said.

You can download the choir’s rendition of Over the Rainbow on Amazon and iTunes.

Dell To Go Private In a $24.4 Billion Deal

On Tuesday, Michael Dell, owner of Dell Inc, sealed a $24.4 billion deal to take the company private in an effort to increase its value, despite the protests of some shareholders.

The purchasers’ agreement, which also includes Microsoft, will pay almost $14 a share in cash. That is approximately more than 25 percent where Dell’s stock traded before word came out of the agreement of its sale. Michael S. Dell will share his wager about 14 percent toward the transaction and will contribute additional cash through his private investment firm. Silver Lake is also expected to contribute about $1 billion in cash, while Microsoft will loan an additional $2 billion.

Micheal Dell excluded himself from any discussions about the transaction and did not vote on the deal, but will seek to uplift the company after years of decline. According to the Wall Street Journal, the company executives say Dell is “increasingly worried about his legacy,” and is reported to have lost enthusiasm for running the company since he returned as CEO in 2007.

The arrival of new competition, first from other PC manufacturers and then smartphones and the iPad, critically eroded Dell’s business, causing the company to lose more than a third of its value in 2012. This is why Microsoft is expected to share some of its great financial muscle to help Dell regain its footing in the industry.

“I believe this transaction will open an exciting new chapter for Dell, our customers and team members. Dell has made solid progress executing this strategy over the past four years, but we recognize that it will still take more time, investment and patience, and I believe our efforts will be better supported by partnering with Silver Lake in our shared vision,” Dell says of the buyout.
