Barrel Roll #169 - "Panda Games Are Their Own Genre"

2012-12-23 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

After a brief hiatus, the Barrel Roll podcast is back to their old tricks. Jesse, Jonah, Wes, and Adam Milecki return for an in depth discussion of the burgeoning panda genre and what it brings to the table. Jonah finally dips into Tokyo Jungle to try out its panda-related DLC. Jesse fights pandas with increasingly elaborate costumes in Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U Edition. Adam shares his experience with Hotline Miamiâ?¦ which might have a panda mask in it or something (maybe). And Wes travels into peoplesâ?? memories (which might have pandas in them) while playing To the Moon. The crew also talks about the Wii U, Nintendo Land, Street Fighter X Mega Man, Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, Red Rogue, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, and XCOM: Enemy Unknownâ??s multiplayer mode. Barrel Roll #168 - "How Many Cats and Koalas Have You Married?"

2012-11-11 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 2s

After a brief hiatus, the Barrel Roll podcast is back! Weâ??re here to ask the hard hitting questions about controversial games like Animal Crossing: New Leaf. Does it let you marry cats and koalas? Youâ??ll have to listen to find out. Jesse, Mike, and Adam Anania manage to set aside their animal related differences long enough to talk about all the latest video gamesâ?¦ like a real ass pinball machine. Jesse and Mike discuss their time with Halo 4 and Smartglass. Adam tells us why Assassinâ??s Creed 3 makes him consider quitting the series entirely. And we talk all manner of other games including Code of Princess, Paper Mario Sticker Star, and Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. All this (and ramen discussion) on episode #168 of the Barrel Roll Podcast, "How Many Cats and Koalas Have You Married?"…

Barrel Roll #167 - Omega Tom Hanks

2012-10-15 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

Lock the doors, board up the windows, and hide your loved ones. Omega Tom Hanks is coming to town and heâ??s bringing his entire balance-destroying moveset with him. Before the Hanksocalypse, Jesse Gregory, Adam Milecki, and Mike Bachmann huddled together to chat about video games for their last moments on Earth. Adam and Jesse obsess over XCOM: Enemy Unknown and spread a little more Tokyo Jungle love (this time with co-op!). Mike gives us the lowdown on EA Originâ??s coupon debacle while telling us about Mugen, the open fighting engine thatâ??s over a decade old. Barrel Roll #166 - "The Duke of Jerk"

2012-09-29 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 2s

A calamity has struck. The human race as we know it seems to have disappeared. That is, except for three resourceful podcasters. How long can they survive before being consumed by swarms of wild pomeranians? Jonah, Jesse, and Adam Anania pool their resources to survive this harsh future while also managing to talk about video games. Adam went to TGS to try out Earth Defense Force 4 and Rockman Xover before heading home with Monster Hunter 3G (soon to be 3 Ultimate), The Denpa Men, and the enhanced vita port of Earth Defense Force 2017. Jonah gets his loot on with Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2. Jesse gets welcomed to the jungle with Tokyo Jungle and Rayman Jungle Run. And the brothers Gregory have a great time with Dead or Alive 5 while simultaneously swallowing the embarrassment induced by its characters. All this along with nerd stalkers, Dragon's Dogma anecdotes, and more on episode #166 of Barrel Roll: "The Duke of Jerk".…

Barrel Roll #165 - "PAX Prime Roundup 2012"

2012-09-24 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On the much delayed one-hundred and sixty-fifth episode of Barrel Roll, Jesse and Jonah are joined by Adam to discuss all the stuff they played way back a few weeks ago at PAX Prime 2012. This includes such hot jams as Lost Planet 3, Rayman Legends, and The Wonderful 101. There is also a lot of talk about the Wii U, because that is what all the hip kids are talking about these days. In our second segment, Jonah brings FTL: Faster than Light to the table. It's a roguelike on a space ship and he thought it was pretty good. Adam and Jesse finally get a chance to chat about their New Super Mario Bros. 2 impressions. Adam also brings a strange rhythm game to mix titled HarmoKnight. All this plus lots more on Barrel Roll #165, "PAX Prime 2012 Roundup".…

2012-09-04 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

PAX happened last weekend. You've seen the epic conclusion of the long running series, but what happened before? What is the origin story? How did we get our super powers? The untold story is about to be told! Actually, we just didn't have time to edit our pre-PAX podcast before actually going to PAX. Jonah is finally back and joins Jesse to talk about the long awaited release of The Last Story. Jesse shares his thoughts on the unlikely fighter that happens to be an RPG sequel, Persona 4 Arena. Jonah finally plays the wonderful Gravity Rush. And Adam Anania may or may not show up (spoiler: he never does). All this and more on episode #163 of Barrel Roll, "PAX Prequel".…

Length: 1s

With Jonah still busy moving, itâ??s up to Jesse, Wes, and prodigal son Russ Walsh to carry on the Barrel Roll podcast spirit. Can they keep things on track? Or will they be doomed to derail each other with discussions of Blitzball and Archie Comics crossover fighters? Actual video game discussions are (probably) had as Jesse tried to figure out whether or not he likes Deadlight and tells legends of the ultimate neck snap in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Wes shares his thoughts on 10000000 and Wanderlust. And Russ takes us back in time with the original Bioshock, then further back in time with Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD. Barrel Roll #162 "Am I the Skull to Your Bulk"

2012-07-29 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This week on Barrel Roll, Jonah has gone missing and it's up to Jesse, Adam Milecki, Mike Bachmann, and a mischievous dog named Scooby Doo to uncover the truth. Do these meddling kids have what it takes? Tune in to find out. They might just get some help from a familiar billionaire. This episode is brought to you by the letter "R". Adam Milecki flexes his obscurity muscle with discussion of Receiver and the PlayStation 2 strategy title, Ring of Red. Not to be one-upped, Jesse doubles up on Rhythm games with Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure (starring Phantom R!) and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy (or is it Theathythm Thinal Thantathy?). Mike talks about Batman games (read: Batman comics) and takes advantage of crazy steam sales with Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. Stay tuned after the end and you might just hear Mike demonstrate in excruciating detail that he knows more about Power Rangers lore than the writers of the show. Barrel Roll #161 - "Card Revolution"

2012-07-16 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

After discussion of this year's crazy Steam Summer Sale, the guys break into what they are really here to talk about... the Ouya? Maybe? I guess that's a thing. On the 3DS front, Jesse and Adam teamed up to play through the Diablo-esk Heroes of Ruin demo. Apparently some mean ghost is giving the other ghosts a hard time. They are just trying to go about their regular afterlives, but that jerk keeps on messing with their stuff. It's up to your bemohawked lion-man hero to save the day. Jesse finished Gravity Rush and Oniken, and even managed to find the start-to-prison ratio of Final Fantasy XIII-2. In other words, he's been busy. Adam got a care package from Jesse which included the 3DS puzzler Crush 3D, which he seems to have some mixed feelings on. Meanwhile Mike, who isn't the one in Japan, started playing Phantasy Star Online 2, because he needed another addicted loot based game in his life. He also played through Dyad for review. Jonah got a Vita and while it came with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, he forsook the playing of it after a brief stint to move on to Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable and Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention. Because taking on two 100+ hour RPGS at the same time seemed like a good idea. All this and more on Barrel Roll #161 - "Card Battle"…

Barrel Roll #160 - "Rush, Rush, Rush"

2012-06-26 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This week on the show, Jesse, Jonah, and Wes reconvene to talk about video games. Wes kicks things off with a breakdown of the new Facebook edition of You Don't Know Jack, the snarky trivia game with no less than 40 releases worldwide, now with the ability to be played directly from your cubicle while you are supposed to be working! He also finished Max Payne 3, and Resonance (which he reviewed), and played the iPhone game The Act. Jesse tells us about one of his new favorites, Gravity Rush. Not only does it break your mind with it's gravity defying gameplay but it is one more excuse to grab Sony's new handheld. He also spent some time with the Pokemon/Japanese Warlords crossover Pokemon Conquest, which allows you to use cutesy creatures to determine the fate of an empire in the form of a strategy RPG. Meanwhile on the PC front, Jonah has spent a lot of time with DC Universe Online, the now free-to-play MMO from SEO. It allowed him to play a Green Lantern game that was actually fun, and for that, he was most thankful. All this and more on Barrel Roll #160, "Rush, Rush, Rush"!…

Barrel Roll #159 - "Contractual Obligation 4: E3 Talk 2012"

2012-06-12 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

E3 happened, and you know what that means; we are once again contractually obligated to talk about the show. This year, none of us were present, but this is the internet, so strong opinions were had by returning guest host Adam Anania and regular normal host Jesse Gregory. Jonah, while he followed E3 to some extent, didn't really have too strong of opinions either way, and instead played games from ten years ago. Wes returns as well, and has been bit by the adventure game bug once again in the form of Resonance. After the dust from E3 has settled, Jonah, Jesse, and Adam get in-depth with their Dragon's Dogma experience. It is quickly becoming one of their favorite diamonds in the rough. Oh, and did Jonah mention he got to interview the Two Guys from Andromeda? He was pretty excited about that.…

Barrel Roll #158 - "Beware the Brine"

2012-05-29 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

The most dangerous being in Cassardis is not the huge, heart stealing dragon after all, but the infinite number of brine that live just below the water's surface. There they wait for the unsuspecting traveler to go for a casual dip on a hot summers day. Then they pounce, devouring anything and everything they can get their microscopic mitts on. In other words, most of the crew played Dragon's Dogma this week. The crew being Jonah, Jesse, Wes, and the return of Adam Anania. Because fighting Tolkien-esk monsters in one game wasn't enough, Wes and Jonah also tried their hand at the Tolkien themed "Lord of the Rings" based game, Lord of the Rings: War in the North. Here Jonah played as a Wizard for a change. He also did in Diablo 3 and Torchlight II, both of which he gave a whirl over the last few weeks. Not to be outdone by sheer number of games played, Wes brings Max Payne 3, Doctor Who Adventure and Portal 2 to the table. He seems to enjoy them all and would recommend them for various audiences based on which ones are age and content appropriate, but that is really your call. 2012-05-15 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On this, the one-hundred and fifty-seventh episode of Barrel Roll, Jonah and Jesse are on their own. It's up to the two of them to talk about video games and attempt to keep you edutained. The Portal 2 authoring tools dropped, and both the guys have been playing around with them. They go into the good and bad of using it with no prior design experience. On the board game front, Jonah picked up a copy of Tetris Link, which is kind of broken but has the potential to be really fun. Jonah also finally got his own copy of Kid Icarus Uprising, which leads to talk of multiplayer, and leads Jesse down a dark path of discussing the original Kid Icarus, which he was playing via the 3D Classics edition. Since there hadn't been nearly enough wizard talk in a while, Jonah brings up the Civ V styled wizard strategy game Warlock - Master of the Arcane, and the obscure end of the world, flashlight based Wii game Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. Barrel Roll #156 - "Bizarro Shenmue"

2012-04-30 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On this, the one-hundred and fifty-sixth excursion into Barrel Roll country, Jesse and Jonah are joined by the internet's own Michael Bachmann. While Mike was off playing the Diablo III open beta, Jonah and Jesse spent time with the Dragon's Dogma demo and character creator. Jesse has also finished up Kid Icarus: Uprising while Jonah played through Journey. There is discussion of Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry, as well as Bizarro Shenmue, which isn't a real game, but probably should be. Getting back to games we actually played, Jesse breaks down Ridge Racer Unbounded and it's strange drifting mechanics. Jonah started in on The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on the Xbox 360 while Mike completed the first chapter of The Walking Dead adventure game from Telltale. Barrel Roll #155 - "Adam is (Probably) A Robot"

2012-04-16 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This week on show, Jonah and Jesse are joined by two returning champions of guest hosting, Adam Milecki, who may or may not be a robot, and Wesley Johnson. After shooting the breeze about remix contest and albums you should definitely go check out, they get right into the video games discussion. First up is Skullgirls, the indie fighting game from Autumn Games that dropped on XBLA and PSN last week. Then Adam and Jesse have an in-depth discussion on Kid Icarus: Uprising. After the break we unfortunately lose Adam due to his suddenly getting down with the sickness. But the show must go on and Jesse gives his thoughts on Asura's Wrath and how much he wishes there was a game there. Jonah has actually played a new game, Legend of Grimrock, even though it plays like an old game. He also finally gave in and bought the Rock Band 3 keyboard bundle he has been putting off since the game's initial release nearly two years ago. Before he falls asleep (it was approaching 2am on his end), Wes gives us his thoughts on Fallout: New Vegas. All this and more random banter on Barrel Roll #155 - "Adam is (Probably) A Robot".…

Barrel Roll #154 - "Two Dead Gods Jackson"

2012-04-03 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This may be our most tangent filled podcast yet (but probably isn't if you dig back far enough). Adam Milecki returns and is afraid to miss a thing, so he focuses his attention on Brogue, a better Roguelike. Jesse and Adam entered into a blood pact a while back to co-op Armored Core V, and we all get the benefits of their sacrifice. Actually, it turned out to be pretty good. Jonah was bitten by the MMO bug once again when he decided to give Star Trek Online a second chance. What a difference a year can make. He also explains why you owe it to yourself to give Yakuza Dead Souls a try. Jesse has finished Xenoblade Chronicles after a mere 81 hours, and even after all that says it is a game you have to play, which we will. What's that you say? Jesse has entered yet another remix competition? It's true. This week's show is done entirely in dubstep (but not really) as we are joined once again by Mike Bachmann and Mr. Wesley Johnson. First things first, you should go back the Kickstarter for Heroes of Forevia, because it sounds rad and Jonah wants to play it. Then it's onward to video game chat. This week's topics of discussion include Coderunner, Mass Effect 3's multiplayer content, Binary Domain, an in-depth discussion of Street Fighter X Tekken, and Jonah's quick turn around on Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk 2.…

This time around the guys discuss Double Fine's Kickstarter campaign, the Indie Game Music Bundle, and of course, video games. All the guys have checked out the Resident Evil Game Boy Color prototype and discuss what could have been. They also tried out the Resident Evil Deck Building Game, which isn't a video game, but is tangentially related to the topic. Other topics of discussion include Gotham City Impostors, the Syndicate reboot and Soul Calibur V. But they don't stop there! If MMO's are your thing, Star Trek Online and Star Wars: The Old Republic are compared. Oh, and Bastion comes up again, because it's that good. Length: 1s

It's time for some "real talk". We here at WingDamage strive to bring you fun and original content about video games. It's our favorite thing to blather on about. But there comes a time when you realize that life has gotten significantly busier for you, and your hobbies need to be pushed to the back burner. That said, we want to continue to record and post new episodes or Barrel Roll, but to continue to do so we have changed a few things. First, it's a little bit more on the casual/conversational side. We are going to pick a couple topics and see where they take us. This means there may be some tangents. Second, we are going bi-weekly, at least for the time being. The good news is Jesse is also going to attempt to make "Sound In Action" bi-weekly, so you'll still be getting a new podcast every week. We are also working on the next episode of "I Am Error", so we got that going on too. So download the show, enjoy, and leave any and all feedback in the comments below.…

Barrel Roll #148 - "Sandopolis"

2012-01-02 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This week on the show, Adam Anania returns to tell us all the games he has been playing. It isn't really a game so much as a way to send Jesse disturbing images. It's better known as Swapnote. Jonah tried to get into the Sega CD entry in the Sonic series, Sonic CD, on the iPhone, and to give himself something other than Star Wars: The Old Republic to talk about, he also played a few rounds of Orcs Must Die! Meanwhile, Jesse actually played some games, which include the excellent Rayman Origins and a flash game that is almost exactly like Mega Man, but not quite. It's called Rokko Chan and it stars a "female" robot fighting several bosses who's names happen to end in "Man". We also pick the winner of our Bad Dudes "Metroid 25th Anniversary Album" giveaway. It's a shorter show this week thanks to all of the end of the year goings on, but we still had a good time talking video games. So give it a download and a listen, and enjoy our one-hundred and forty-eighth episode, "Sandopolis".…

Barrel Roll! #147 - "I'm Just So Tired of All These Star Wars"

2011-12-26 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 2s

This week on the show, Jonah is shocked to his very core when Jesse not only tried an MMO, but actually enjoyed it! That's right, we are talking about Star Wars: The Old Republic, just like every other show out there. But don't worry, we diversify. We aren't content being stuck in some intergalactic rut. No, my friends, we also take a look at Might Switch Force. Oh, other shows mentioned that one as well? What about Mega Man X for iOS? Adam's got your back. You want a little Monster Tale action for the DS players out there? We got that too. Jonah and Adam have also been playing the 3DS eShop exclusive Pushmo and think you should probably go buy it. Not to be outdone talking digital content, Jesse has a special Game Music Roundup seciton of the show where he talks about the Mighty Switch Force OST from Virt, "Super Meat Boy: Choice Piano Cuts", "Wild Arms: Armed and Dangerous" and the new release from Bad Dudes, "Metroid Arrange 25th Anniversary Album". This week on the show, Jonah and Jesse are joined by Mike Bachmann of "A Fistful of Pixels" fame. It's a rollicking good time filled with unicorns, laser swords and doughnuts. In our "What We've Been Playing" segment, Jonah has had The Old Republic sink it's claws deep inside his tender flesh with it's early access program. He did break away long enough to give Ghost Trick a try, but only just. Jesse gives us an in-depth look at Nano Assault and a quick rundown of all the GBA games that were released as part of the 3DS ambassador program. Barrel Roll! #145 - "Sensationalist Journalism"

2011-12-12 :: podcast@wingdamage.com

We've finally decided to throw in the towel and become a full on tabloid rag. Think of all the awesome hits we could pull in with sensationalist headlines like "Nintendo is Over!", "Miyamoto is Quits All Games!", and "Video Games Kills Kittens!". We would be rolling in the fat stacks of cash. But alas, we were too busy playing video games to sensationalize headlines about them. This week on the show, Jonah and Jesse and joined by Rockin' Android's own Adam Milecki for some in-depth talk of Demon's Souls and why Adam is so addicted to it. Jonah has been playing baby games, specifically Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure on both the PS3 and 3DS. Jesse gives us an look into what makes Mario Kart 7 a worthwhile entry in the series and to your 3DS library. Jonah and Adam talk about Blocks that Matter and what it is that matters about them. Adam has also given Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony a try and gives us his thoughts. There wasn't much of note hitting shelves this week, so we delve right into the news to talk about what Miyamoto's recent announcement regarding his position at Nintendo could potentially mean, Capcom getting into the doujin localization market, The Old Republic early access, and much more. Length: 2s

On this, the one-hundred and forty-fourth entry in the annals of podcast history, we travel back to do the days of Templara and Assassins fighting over their various creeds. And who can rise up and rule them all? Only one man is brave enough. Only one man is cunning enough. Only one man, has top hat enough to accomplish his goals. This week, Jonah, Jesse, and Adam come together to discuss their likes and dislikes of Super Mario 3D Land, and even spend some time in Bowser's Zen Garden. Adam goes back to one of his favorite series of this generation with Assassin's Creed Revelations and gives us the breakdown of the changes from the last game. Jonah, living in the past once again, has been playing a bunch of Ticket to Ride. That's a German board game from 2004, which shows you how hip that guy is. Jesse tries desperately to bring us back into the future with his initial impressions of Mario Kart 7 and the Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony DLC. We are joined once again by our "Let's Play Together" segment, where both Jesse and Jonah have thrown their hats into the modern warfare combat simulator, Battlefield 3. It's unique take on the military shooter genre has sucked them in even more so than the last entry in the genre they cared about, Rainbow Six Vegas 2. There is also a hearty discussion of the Vita and it's memory card pricing reveal and the upcoming North American release of Xenoblade Chronicles. Spyro is fast, and a dragon! With the holiday weekend upon us and everyone traveling, visiting family or otherwise incapacitated, it's up to Jonah and Jesse to hold down the fort. But that's OK, because they both managed to play a lot of games this week. Jesse reviewed The King of Fighters XIII and gives us the full rundown on this edition's updates (this time there are modes!). Jonah finished the 3DS version of Sonic Generations and compares it to it's big console counterpart. Jesse is about four dungeons in to The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and gives a breakdown of the pacing, mechanics, and most importantly, the 1 to 1 bug catching. Our Let's Play Together segment returns for a look at Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure and how it is a surprisingly fun game despite that it wants all of your money. Barrel Roll! #142 - "Innerspace: The Game"

2011-11-22 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

There is only one way to bring about peace in the galaxy on this week's Barrel Roll Podcast, and that is to go inside. That's right, this week Jonah, Adam and Jesse are injected inside Martin Short thanks to a shrink ray experiment gone horribly awry. While all the news is taken up by Black Friday Sales talk (which we skip), there are some new releases of note that we go over. We also take a good chunk of time talking about Rockman EXE: Phantom of Network and the Mega Man Battle Network games in general. Adam has also played through the 3D Classics version of Kirby's Adventure and gives us his thoughts on the slight update to the NES classic. Jonah has still been sucked into the world of Skyrim but peeked his head out long enough to bust some caps in Saints Row The Third. It turns out the secret to it's success? Infinite parachutes. That sounds kind of familiar... On the opposite end of the spectrum, Jesse completed Super Mario 3D Land's main worlds and moved onto the much harder bonus worlds. He also played more on Ace Combat for Babies, or Ace Combat: Assault Horizon as it is better known. There was also some Uncharted 3 punchtime explosions involved. Barrel Roll #141 - "Draculelf"

2011-11-14 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 2s

Adam Anania returns on for our one-hundred and skyrims-skytacular. Skyrim. Sorry, I was distracted there for a second. On our one-hundred and forty-first episode of Barrel Roll, we are joined by Adam Anania who has not been playing Skyrim, but has actually been playing Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Star Fox 64 3D. Jesse has been playing some Otomedius Excellent, which he swears was borrowed from a friend, and we aren't really sure if that makes it any better. Jonah and Jesse have played Sonic Generations and give their impressions on that, and Jonah has been playing some of The Old Republic beta (don't worry, he only talks about stuff that is already public knowledge) and, you might have guessed, Skyrim. He seems to be enjoying it. We also cover the new games dropping this week and the news, all on this, a very beefy and Draculelf filled episode of the show.…

2011-11-07 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very smooth one-hundred and fortieth Barrel Roll, Jonah and Jesse are once again joined by Wesley for one fine episode. Jesse and Jonah have both entered into free time killing hobbies, what with all the remix contests and novel writing. Wes has been busy too, we assume. In our games played section, we discuss the return of our heroes from gaming's past with Kirby's Return to Dreamland and Sonic Generations. Wes has sold his soul to Uncharted 3 and Jonah actually played a game this time for reals you guys. He grabbed the current Humble Bundle, The Humble Voxatron Debut. From that he has been playing the Voxatron alpha and also the disturbing but addictive The Binding of Isaac. There might not be a ton of news this week, but the guys do get into a discussion of Resident Evil Chronicles HD having played both Umbrella Chronicles & Darkside Chronicles on the Wii. All this, plus a discussion on the new games dropping this week on Barrel Roll #140, "Smooth Jams".…

Barrel Roll! #139 - "Which One Do I Shoot?"

2011-10-31 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

It's a triumphant return to form when Jesse, Wes, Adam and Jonah get together once again to talk about video game related topics. Adam Milecki (aka Adam 2) has been playing an awful lot of Dark Souls and gives us the rundown. He and Jonah discuss the nitty gritty of it versus it's predecessor, Demon's Souls, at least to the extent that someone (Jonah) can, having tried to play it while watching a nine-month-old. As it turns out, that is not as much as he would like. Not having had much time to play anything, Jonah did at least get to start a Titan's Quest campaign with some friends, and managed to rustle up a four person team of gladiatorial badassery. Which translates to clicking on things. Jesse started, and completed, Batman: Arkham City between this and the last show. He goes in-depth as to how it managed to become even better than Arkham Asylum without giving away any spoilers, so calm down nerds. Speaking of spoilers, Wes finally played through Bioshock, and that we do go into spoilers on. Why? Because it came out in 2007 and you should have all played it by now. All this plus news and new games coming out this week on Barrel Roll #139, "Which One Do I Shoot?"…

2011-10-17 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

This week on the Barrel Roll Show, Wes joins Jonah and Jesse for some Uncharted 3 multiplayer chat. Jonah and Wes also talk about Diablo 2 and how it holds up. But before that we get into that, we discuss the games we've been played over the last week. Jesse gave Ace Combat: Assault Horizon a shot to find it a bit of a mixed bag. He also played through Aliens Infestation which it turns out is a pretty good video game. Wes has once again been sucked into Borderlands and the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned DLC. Perusing the games on his Steam list that he's never gotten around to trying also prompted him to boot up Freedom Force vs The Third Reich. Meanwhile Jonah is flabbergasted by how much fun he has been having with Scribblenauts Remix, even after finishing the game's 50 levels. All this plus the new releases for the week and the gaming news on Barrel Roll #138, "Jonah's Ironic Rugby Challenge".…

Barrel Roll! #137 - "Now With Bears"

2011-10-10 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

A regular Barrel Roll podcast is no longer enough. But what could we possibly do to up the ante? Bears, and lots of them! This week, Adam Anania is back again, with more tales of magic and wonder. It appears that his 3DS has become self-healing. Can world domination be far behind? In our "Games Played Over the Course of the Week" segment, Jonah and Wes played through the Rochard demo and found a pleasant mix of 2D puzzles and gravity guns. Wes discovered that he isn't into the "constantly punch you in the face" genre, and returned Dark Souls quickly after renting it. He did the same with X-Men: Destiny, but for reasons of suckitude, not difficulty. After his 3DS's miraculous return, Adam grabbed Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins. Both he and Jesse seem to agree that it holds up well. Jesse finished a playthrough of Hitogata Happa after figuring out it's unique mechanics, and continued his questing in Solatorobo. Not wanting to leave any colossi unslain, Jesse and Jonah finally finished Shadow of the Colossus. It only took them re-releasing it in HD for them to get around to it. Jonah also went back to Rock of Ages and manages to get over the weird difficulty bump on the Pestilence level. The guys also discuss the new games of the week, and the video game news. All this plus more on Barrel Roll #137, "Now With Bears"!…

Barrel Roll! #136 - "Shadow of the HD Colossus"

2011-10-03 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On this, the one-hundred and thirty-sixth episode of the Barrel Roll podshow, Adam Anania joins us from Japan with tales of old cell phone games and magic. It's not all meat buns and field days though. Jonah, Jesse and Wes are also here to bring you the latest in games for the Playstation. The first one. You know like Mega Man Legends and Die Hard Trilogy. Speaking of Legends, Adam gave Rockman DASH: Itsutsu no Shima no Daibouken! a whirl, and got some time in with Gargoyle's Quest on the 3DS Virtual Console as well. Jesse brings more Xenoblade Chronicles talk and recommends checking out Michelle's article about the game. He also talks Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, which it turns out is a baby game for babies, but still kind of fun. For the MMO fans in the audience (insert crickets here), Jonah gave Rift a try. In a desperate bid to avoid talking more Disgaea 4, which he is still obsessed with, he also started his playthrough of Rock of Ages. Our "Let's Play Together" segment returns once again for some controller swapping, colossi hunting adventurin' with Jonah and Jesse's excursion into Shadow of the Colossus HD. In the news we discuss the rumors of Yakuza of the End leaving Japan, the possible return of PaRappa the Rapper and Nippon Ichi's new game The Witch and the Hundred Cavalrymen. Length: 1s

Bursting into action, Captain America takes on the unstoppably adorable forces of Red Skull and his giant teddy bear army in the latest episode of the Barrel Roll show! Wes returns to tell the tale of Captain America Super Soldier. But before we can get into that it must be told that Jesse and Jonah are also back (as per usual) to bring us the latest in the same games they've been playing the last several weeks. This includes Disgaea 4 and Xenoblade Chronicles, but has expanded into Jesse returning to, and finishing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies. His Dragon Quest inspired mood was brought on, not only by the recent info about part ten, but also on the fact that his import copy of Dragon Quest Collection has arrived. In an attempt to keep things "funky fresh", Jonah has invested some time into Jetpack Joyride and Swords & Soldiers HD as well. When he wasn't busy pummeling Nazis, Wes also delved into Icarus and Quarrel. Two great tastes that taste great together. On our "What Games We Played" segment of the show, Jesse finally gets around to talking about Xenoblade Chronicles and it's amazing, super-British localization. Wes and Mike both give us their feelings on the new Jetpack Joyride. Jonah talks about Space Marine and how many times the game says "Space Marine", which it does with a surprising frequency. Mike has also been playing Dead Island and gives us the good with the bad. Finally, our "Let's Play Together" returns for talk of the recent XBLA release of Radiant Silvergun. On the one-hundred and thirty-third episode of Barrel Roll show, Jonah is incredibly distracted by a teething baby. There may also have been some discussion of video games, or it was all a dream. Possibly, the guys were actually dead the entire time and in purgatory. After the news and new games coming out this week, Wes returns to give us his Borderlands progress. He also redid our intro song using Cambox and does a comparison with Vidrhythym. Adam Milecki is back to tell us about Rock of Ages, Section 8: Prejudice and his initial impressions of Bastion. Jesse finished Deus Ex: Human Revolution, played the crap out of some Star Fox 64 3D and also gives us the rundown of Skydrift. Space Glasses are back, and this time, it's even more personal. On this, the one-hundred and thirty-second Barrel Roll, Jonah and Jesse are joined by Rockin' Android's own Adam Milecki for an augmented cyber-future podshow. It's no surprise that all three of the guys have been delving into the world of Deus Ex: Human Revolution since it combines man show favorites; robot arts, space glasses and Metal Gears. But before getting into that, the new releases for the week are discussed, followed by the news. The Dragon Quest X press conference was happening during the recording, but we edited out the parts that involved the hosts watching clips, as it didn't make for the best audio show. They also discuss Jonah's initial impressions of Bastion, Jesse's brief time (so far) with the upcoming Gundemonium Collection, and Adam brings us up to speed on the latest changes to Captain Jameson. On this one-hundred and thirty-first episode of Barrel Roll, Jonah is joined by returning guest host Wesley Johnson for a most excellent adventure. It seems even though they both graduated high school in the late 90's, they have to gather up famous figures from history to turn in one final report so they can graduate, start their band, and save the future through bodacious music. The show starts with the regular news and new game releases, then moves on to our "games what we played last week" segment. There the guys haven't had time for much new stuff, but have been enjoying Borderlands as well as the SNES classic Earthbound. Jonah has also given the Onlive service a try for the first time and gives his thoughts on that. After the main show, be sure to stick around! Jesse has finished Bastion while Jonah continues to make his way through Pirates of Black Cove. Adam joins us for the last time recording from the states. Length: 1s

On this, the one-hundred and ninth episode of the Barrel Roll podshow, Adam, Jonah and Jesse get together to discuss ghost mice. They may be small, but they are still spooky! On to more video game related things, Jesse has completed his second playthrough of Catherine. He also experienced all the Final Fantasy Type-0 demo from Japan had to explore and was left craving more. Adam finally got around to the first Puzzle Agent game with mixed results, then went back in time to play the Game Boy classics (classics here meaning games Jonah didn't know existed until last week), Mario's Picross and Avenging Spirit, which brought even more ghosts to the table. Jonah spent a very brief amount of time with Age of Conan: Unchained and Pirates of the Black Cove. Finally, Jesse and Jonah discuss the strangeness that is Trauma. The new releases for the week are covered, along with more Air Bud references than are healthy for a single podcast to make (unless it is some sort of Air Bud fancast). Then in the news, they discuss the new 3DS price-drop and the Humble Indie Bundle #3. The second half of the show has the guys discussing the games they've been playing, which includes more Bastion talk from Jesse as well as the full game of Catherine. Jesse and Adam talk a little more about Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, but since we covered that in depth last time, they try not to dwell on it for too long. Adam and Jonah gave the 2D Minecraft game Terraria a try, with mixed results. Jesse tries to explain the weirdness found in the Catherine demo, and goes on to tell us why mascot characters need to shut the hell up from his experience with the Ms. Splosion Man demo. There is even more weirdness when Jonah tries to explain the punchtime explosion present in Zeno Clash and the genre blending of Hinterland. Adam also does his best to explain what is going on in Solar 2, then moves on to the not-Castlevania game Soul of Darkness. So in other words, we actually played a lot of games this week. "Why don't you go back home, to space?" After the stirring New Releases and News segments of the podcast, Jonah, Jesse, Adam & Adam 2 bust into the games they've been playing this week. Most of the guys have been playing through The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, though Adam 2 still doesn't quite see the appeal of 3D Zelda games. Not that kind of the 3D, but the other kind. Jesse and Adam gave the Sonic Generations demo several playthroughs, and Jesse even booted up Sonic 4 to make a more accurate comparison as to why this one is good and that one was terrible. Jesse also talks about his most recent import (it isn't a SMUP this time) Danball Senki, which is like Pokemon except for the parts that are nothing like it. After two and a half years of Jesse praising Valkyria Chronicles, Jonah has finally given the game a chance. As it turns out, it is fantastic. He also finally gave the WiiWare service some love and bought WayForward's Mighty Milky Way. Adam has gone back to one of his favorite DS games, Rhythm Heaven and also put in more time with Minecraft. Jonah has both finished Mass Effect 2 and liked it so much, he started over on Mass Effect just to have a character to import (like a crazy person) for his Paragon play-through. He also received the coveted Joystiq Podcast Appreciation Group Joystick, created by Randall Smith and tells us all about it. In the news we talk about Wii Speak and if anyone cares that Monster Hunter Tri will have a bundle with it, confirmation that the next Wii Zelda will require Wii Motion Plus, Sony "actively thinking" about charging for PSN, the recently released Sonic 4 trailer, and much more.…

He tells us all about his history as a gamer and how he got started podcasting about games. In what we've been playing there is discussion of Mass Effect 2, in which any spoilers are very carefully avoided. We also talk about the adorable indie game Toki Tori, Wes's completion of The Saboteur, the surprisingly good Tatsunoko VS Capcom (which has a disturbing lack of pizza related cats), the sadly disappointing Dark Void, and DS JRPG WTFBBQ Sands of Destruction. Wes also tells tales of more junk for the iPhone. In our fake "Friday Old Games" segment, Jesse gives us the rundown on Dark Void Zero. Can it be that the tie-in game has once again out-classed the big budget counterpart? All this and much more on Barrel Roll #51, "Dude, Where's My Pizza Cats?"…

It's up to the rest of the gang to dress up like waiters and fool the unsuspecting dates that Wes is a real "Stand-Up" sort of guy! Brittany continues to run her highly successful farming scheme in Harvest Moon: The Tree of Tranquility, and Jesse has once again gone back to Metroid Prime Trilogy, as well as continued his dragon training in Breath of Fire IV. A new segment is introduced, which ties directly into Friday Old Games. Here we discuss a game from previous console generations, say why we chose it, if it holds up, etc. This week's game was Sin and Punishment, which Jesse wanted to finish before the Wii sequel. In the news we discuss the upcoming Prinny sequel and ponder if anyone has ever finished the first game. The upcoming Civilization Network and our hopes for the game being something on Facebook worth playing. On a very special thirty-sixth episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", we get the crew together once again to discuss the games we have been playing, the latest news, a movie about LARPing and announce our final in our series of PAX Pack giveaways. The crew this week consists of Jesse, Jonah, Brittany, Luke and Nate. Jesse has finally finished up Batman: Arkham Asylum and has a thing or two to say about it (don't worry, it's spoiler free). Luke gives us the rundown on the metaltastic Brutal Legend while Brittany has been relaxing with Harvest Moon: The Tree of Tranquility. Nate finally got around to finishing Mass Effect, and we all have a good laugh about space marines and their stupid haircuts. Jesse has also spent some time with the often over looked Breath of Fire series in the form of the PS1 classic Breath of Fire IV, and Jonah has spent some time playing Diablo-clone Titan Quest. In "Let's Play Together", Jesse and Jonah retell their experiences playing the DJ Hero demo at their local game store. The busting of phat beats was involved, as was a display setup with almost no volume and a turntable at a 45 degree angle. The news has fewer subjects but a little more focus as we discuss Square's announcement of their final PS2 product in Japan. The full track list for Lego Rock Band has been released and favorite picks are discussed. There is even a new entry in Jesse's "Mega Man News Roundup". Then it is movie time, in which we have watched "Monster Camp". If you are unfamiliar, it is a documentary about LARPers. It was filmed locally (Seattle area) and is now streamable on Netflix. Together with the Gregory brothers (not those ones), he discusses how easy it is to spend way too much on iPhone games. Sure they're only $1 each, but after 4GB of downloads, it starts to add up. In our talks of what we've been playing Jonah has finished not one, but two games! Giving his PS3 a workout, he has finished both Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction and is here to tell you why these exclusives to Sony's gamebox are still must-plays. Jesse has been keeping busy with the SquareDisnix's latest in their crossover franchise, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and also checking out the new DSiWare JRPG/Chess-ish hybrid title Dragon Quest Wars. In "Let's Play Together" Nathan and Jonah walk us through the swearsploitation, cursestravaganza that is House of the Dead: Overkill. Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is carrying the torch of the series extremely well, and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2... is also talked about. The news gives us a chance to talk about which Flight of the Conchord songs we'd like to see on Rock Band. Barrel Roll! Episode #28 - "Nerding it Up"

2009-08-24 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 2s

On a very special episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", we are joined by special guest Randall Johnson... er.. Smith...Portman... Guy. You know, from the JPAG. In What We've Been Playing, Randall kicks us off with "Battlefield: 1943" and also super nerdy D&D talk. We talk about the second episode of "Tales of Monkey Island", Jonah is in the Beta of "Champions Online", while Jesse talks "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance" with a focus on the games' story and has also finally finished "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time". Brittany gives her thoughts on "Tomb Raider: Underworld" while Wesley reports on the iPhone game "Hysteria Project", the original "Half life" and the XBLA hit "Shadow complex". We also all give our takes on the "Batman:Arkham Asylum" Demo. In the news there is once again plenty of Capcom related stories, as Jesse gathers the bulk of our show notes. Also, we discuss the World of Warcraft expansion Cataclysm, the PS3 Slim, the fantastic looking 3D Dot Game Heroes, and much more. In Let's Talk About Stuff, our plans for the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo, PAX to it's homies and which panels we are looking forward to checking out this year. All this plus the usual hijinks on the latest Barrel Roll Podcast.…

Barrel Roll! Episode #27 - "G.I. Johnson"

2009-08-17 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special twenty-seventh episode of Barrel Roll, we are once again joined by our good pal Wesley Johnson. He has braved Wizard World Chicago and the new G.I. Joe movie and lived to tell us about them on the show. These show notes will be a little briefer than usual, as my frustration with trying to get the Champions Online Beta mounts... In what we've been playing, Jonah and Wes discuss "Splosion Man" and "Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition" while Jesse talks about "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance", "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time" and the very Castlevania-esk "Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony" demo. In news, we talk about Capcom's new triple pack which includes "Dead Rising", "Lost Planet: Colonies Edition", and "Devil May Cry 4" for only $40 on the Xbox 360. Capcom's plans to team up with Nintendo on the promotion of Monster Hunter 3 and much more.…

Barrel Roll! Episode #26 - "In-Game Ads In Space"

2009-08-10 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special twenty-sixth episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", the Gregory clan takes on the touchy subject of in-game advertising when they "talk about stuff". In "What We've Been Playing", Jesse has taken advantage of the recent Steam independent game sales so he has been playing through the entire CHRONOTORIOUS album in "AudioSurf". He then goes on to discuss the album and why you should go pre-order it right now. Jonah tries to play through the copy of "Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil" on the PS2, but the copy he found has a big mark on the disc causing some major freezing issues near the end. He also picked back up "World of Warcraft" with the new 3.2 patch. And, after only 8 years, he managed to finish "Final Fantasy x". He even wrote a review. And yes, it is weird when I write the podcast reviews and have to talk in the third person. I mean, he says it is. Brittany has been playing some "Crayon Physics", also from the Steam independent games sale. Turns out these games are rad and people should go buy them. In our news segment we are once again annoyed by countdowns. Jesse talks about the DSi's Facebook integration, and a whole lot more.…

Barrel Roll! Episode #25 - "Adventurama"

2009-08-03 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special twenty-fifth episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", we are joined by our friend and yours, Ben Paddon of the Science-Fiction Comedy "Jump Leads" and returning guest Wesley Johnson. We spend a good portion of time talking about how much we all love adventure games, how glad we all are that they are back, and which games we would like to see made. But a lot of that is saved for when we talk about stuff in our most terribly named segment "Let's Talk About Stuff." But before that we discuss the games we have been playing. Luke's triumphant return, then death once again by dysentery, brings us a discussion of "Battlefield 1943". Both Wesley and Jonah have been playing through "Secret of Monkey Island" (original and Special Edition) to finally be up to speed on how fantastic the game is. Through the portal into a J-Pop Medical Soap Opera, also known as "Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2", Brittany saves the world from G.U.I.L.T., while Jesse has been chillin' with "Wii Sports Resort", and Ben fulfills his lifelong dream of busting ghosts with Bill Murray thanks to his Wii and PS3 copies of "Ghostbusters". In the news we share our annoyance with the trend of having teasers for announcements about games via leaked blurry screenshots and lousy countdown websites. Why not just tell us what games you are working on once they are far enough along for it to actually matter, game developers? We also discuss how wonderful Chris Barrie is, and why he should be in more stuff. Also, because Ben is on the show, Doctor Who comes up on more than one occasion.…

2009-07-27 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special twenty-fourth episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", we are joined by our good friend Wesley Johnson as well as our number one super-fan, Russ "The Bus" Walsh for another extra special livetacular recording of the podcast. Sure, there may be Millie Vanillie related distractions. Discussions of the Brazillian Mega Man comics and Pokémon themed N64's may have occurred, but we also talk about stuff. Specifically our piles of shame. You know, those games we know are awesome that we own but just haven' had a chance to finish? But before any of that, we talk about the games we have been playing. Jesse has still been playing Mega'Mon Red (Mega Man Star Force 3: Red Joker), but also had a chance to try out the new "Wipeout HD Fury" DLC and the "Final Fantasy Dissidia" demo. Jonah recently became addicted to the job system in "Final Fantasy V Advanced" for the GBA, while Wes has been trying to make his way through "Tales of Monkey Island" episode one. Meanwhile, Russ has been digging into the fan made patch for "Smash Bros. Brawl" called "Smash Plus" which re-balances all the characters for tournament play. We listen to a cover of Weezer's "El Scorcho" from the new 8-bit tribute album put together by Pterodactyl Squad, and then talk about the news. All this and so much more on episode 24 of Barrel Roll.…

Mustin has gone back to "Final Fantasy VI Advance", in a quest to unlock that versions extra content, while Jonah has been busy bustin 'Ghosts. We then have an in-depth interview with Mustin, where he shares all the various projects he is working on, how they got started their influences... you know. The usual interview stuff. We have a fun time talking music and video games. Mustin was also kind enough to share two brand new songs with us that we played on the live feed, and you can now hear again in this edited version of the cast. The first is "Mario Circuit" from The Oneups upcoming Mario Kart album, while the second is from the Chronotorious and it is titled "BAMF". In the news we discuss the final piece of Fallout 3 DLC, Mothership Zeta, Doc Louis's Punch-Out!!, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Dragon Quest IX DLC quests, Wipeout HD: Fury and much more. Finally, in "Let's Talk About Stuff", we talk even more about video game music, and why it is awesome.…

On a very special episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", the twenty second as it turns out, Jesse and Jonah are left to their own devices, as several people had to cancel at the last minute. Not ones to let a thing like that keep them down, they decided to do the show with a live video stream. In "What We've Been Playing", Jesse talks about Fire Emblem, "BlazBlue" and "Mega Man Star Force 3: Red Joker" (aka Megamon Red). Jonah checked out the "Overlord II" demo, Finished "Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal" and more "Battlefield Heroes". On a very special twentieth episode of Barrel Roll, A Video Game Podcast, we are joined by special guest Dalibor "Dali" Dimovski, co-founder of Sidequesting.com to talk about video games and video game related topics. First and foremost is what we've been playing, which ranges from Sega's new Wii title "Let's Tap" and "Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance", to a comparison of the Wii and 360 versions of "Tiger Woods 10". Which version wins out? The one that is most fun! Also Rhythm Heaven and Mega Man Star Force 3 demos have been played by Jesse. We are proud to have the new Kirby Krackle single "Ring Capacity" to play for you in the break. For details on how to get your copy of this awesome new song about Green Lantern by the World's First Comic Book Rock Band, go to their site. The news is dominated by crazy talk. Nintendo's Demo Play, Final Fantasy Tactics coming to the PSN, the possibility of a "Day of the Tentacle" sequel and much more. Barrel Roll! Episode 19 - "Kirby Kracklesode"

2009-06-22 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special 19th episode of "Barrel Roll! A Video Game Podcast", we spend the evening talking to Kyle Stevens and Jim Demonakos of Kirby Krackle. If you are not familiar, they have created the worlds first comic book rock band. We delve into how the band was formed, their writing process, the new summer single (out on 6/30!), touring at comic conventions, and more! Then we get into the games. What got Jim and Kyle into gaming, what games influenced the band and what we're playing now. Kyle even plays "Villain Song" and "Naked Wii" live on the show. Check it out, then head over to bands site and pick up their album. You'll be glad you did. Oh, and if you are wondering what was cut, it was a rousing game of chubby bunny. While fun, it turns out people shoving marshmallows in their mouths does not make for great audio. It was a close race and in the end Jim claims he was victorious, though Kyle denies that he actually was able to say "chubby bunny". This conflict may never be solved.…

2009-06-15 :: podcast@wingdamage.com
Length: 1s

On a very special nineteenth episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", we rival our Emerald City ComiCon episode for title of "most sleepy". We are once again joined by friend of the show Wesley Johnson, who is here to tell us that Five Guys is worth the trip. Premium burgers and fries? Heck yeah! In "What We've Been Playing", after some Broken Sword talk, Jonah and Brittany go into further experiences with the beta for Aion: The Tower of Eternity. Brittany has also been playing a ton of Sims 3 the last few days and tells us the changes from part 2. Jesse finally finished Sir Togsef, then threw in a slew of other games to figure out what he wants to move onto next. Wesley, while not having much time to game this week, did get a chance to play a little bit more inFamous. Being the week after E3, there is not a lot of news to discuss. We did scrounge up a few stories to keep you entertained. We then move on to review the new Blu-Ray release of Advent Children Complete in our "Movie Time" section, and in "Let's Play Together", Jesse and Jonah have been trying out Monster Hunter Freedom 2. Don't forget we will have Kirby Krackle on the next episode, so post your questions for the guys or email the show at podcast@wingdamage.com!…

On a very special seventeenth episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", we see the return of our very own prodigal son, Luke. We are also once again joined by our good friend and fellow gaming enthusiast Wesley Johnson. Together we discuss the pressing issues of the day, like what video games we have all been playing over the last week. Wesley and Luke have both been playing inFamous, the PS3 exclusive super-hero romp with crazy electrical powers. They each give their thoughts on the experience. Luke also played, and finished, the new Bionic Commando. Did it live up to it's predecessor? You will have to listen and find out. [More...] Both Jonah and Brittany were in the first Aion beta. It's the new MMORPG from NCsoft which gives you the ability to sprout wings and fly... once you reach a certain level requirement. Jesse had a chance to finish Klonoa and it turns out, it is as good as people told him it was. In the second have of the show, we spend a good long while talking about all the nifty new stuff that was shown off at E3. Were our predictions correct?…

On a very special sixteenth episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", we give our E3 predictions. This is due to a contractual obligation, and since this goes up on Tuesday mornings, I'm sure 99% of what we talk about has already been rendered moot. (demo),Klonoa, Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and special guest Wesley Johnson has been playing through Infamous for the PS3. In the news, we discuss the upcoming release of Raiden IV coming to the US. Now another teaser site exists called "Mask" with a spooky looking mask Sonic is back!...... in a racing game titled Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing *facepalm* Trauma Center gets a spiritual successor "Trauma Team" for the Wii. Playable characters include a surgeon, a diagnostician, a paramedic, a cosmetic surgeon, an endoscopic surgeon, and a forensic examiner. On a very special twelfth episode of our video gaming podcast, known to some as codename Barrel Roll, we are all about the X-Men: Origins: Wolverine: The Movie: The Video Game: The Review, thanks to our pal Wesley "Wolverine" Johnson from InsulinFunk.net. Jesse really brings his X-Game when he makes a "Deadpool" out of the Valkyria Chronicles DLC, while Luke takes a "Gambit" on Far Cry 2. It isn't long before Jonah needs reflexes like that of a "Sabertooth" in Left 4 Dead. In World of Warcraft and Civ Rev, Brittany has really... "Kayla Silverfox"... something... OK... I'll stop now. In the news, we cover the soon to be released Marvel VS Capcom 2 on XBLA and PSN, Dead Rising 2 multiplayer, Soul Calibur IV and Tekken 6 for the PSP, the Turtles in Time remake and a new Katamari on the PS3 amongst other things. On a very special eleventh episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", Jesse and Jonah tells us the wonders of "Excite Bots: Trick Racing" for the Wii. It's not just racing, it's sandwich making. "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time" turns out not to just have a ludicrously long title, but to be the FFCC game we've been waiting for. As it turns out "Rock Revolution" is not worth the $10 price point it has been discounted to. Orange Box and Steam are both awesome, but you already knew that, and it turns out we like the PSP... in theory. In the news we talk about "Fallout: New Vegas", Kojima guaging the interest in a possible Zone of the Enders 3, and much more. Wait... A "King of Fighters" Shmup? What the crap? "Let's Talk About Stuff" was co-opted from our news story about the recently announced Lego Rock Band and our feelings on the subject. These mostly fall apart into a nostalgic Lego love fest. The second half of the show, we talk about the Tom Hanks classic made for TV movie, "Mazes and Monsters". This is followed by a comic discussion about what we've been reading lately. On an extra special eighth episode of "Barrel Roll! - A Video Game Podcast", we are up at 1am Sunday night after having a great time at Emerald City ComiCon. Thrill, as we attempt to not fall asleep while doing a con wrap up! Also, live Keytar intro featuring the demo button. Jerry, who you might know from the Internet as Tycho Brahe, was kind enough to stop by the table. Not only did he pick up a copy of our book, but he was nice enough to do an interview with us as well. We talk about his earliest gaming memories, what he's playing now, and what's coming up for Penny Arcade. But that's not all! Kris Straub, creator of Starslip (one of my personal favorite comics), also did an interview. Here we talked briefly on his early days of playing "Wing Commander" with his brother, and why the guys in "Gears of War" are not the gentlemen he would personally choose to hang out with. Jesse, aka Main Finger, after a brisk five years has finally finished his latest album, "Mode7". In the break we play Carnival Cave, a remix of Mystic Cave Zone from Sonic 2. With all the con prep, none of us have had a lot of time for gaming this week. Luke did finally put Rogue Galaxy to rest, and Jonah attempted to play "Legends of Zork", but the servers were down after only one night.
