In November 2014, I was honored as I was asked to provide the Fall Commencement Address for Argosy University's Schaumburg Illinois Campus. The commencement, held at the Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin, Illinois, celebrated the Bacheloriate, Masters and Doctoral academic accomplishments of Argosy students. Many friends and family members of the students were in attendance to celebrate this remarkable achievement. And I wanted to inspire ALL, graduates and audience members, to motivate themselves to Tell Their Story! The Power of Story is a key-note address and inspirational speech I created for the occasion. The talk encouraged all in the audience to view their own life story as a powerful inspirational tool for others and a motivational prompt for themselves. We all have a powerful story even if we think our story is not ready for prime time. Our personal story features each of us overcoming adversity and developing perseverance in order to pursue a dream. The Power of Story is NOT WHAT happens to you. The Power of Story is HOW YOU RESPOND to what happens to you. This is also the basis of most movies, television shows and our life long endevour of healing. …
