Episode 6 (Part 2) - Young Thug Says...

2015-05-04 :: Channel 10 Podcast

Our conversation about #FreddieGray and the #BaltimoreUprising protests from Episode 6 Part 1 somehow transitioned into a conversation Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, Future, et al. We ask the question "what completely solo Young Thug record can you remember?". We also get into newer albums from Mobb Deep & Raekwon, Raekwon's discography, and various things related to Wu-Tang (for some reason our conversations always come back to the Wu lol). We end with some podcast business that probably shouldn't be on the podcast, but f it lol, and also we wrap up our Freddie Gray conversation from Episode 6 Part 1. Check it out! Episode 6 (Part 1) - #Baltimore Needs To Riot and Burn That B---- Down!

2015-05-01 :: Channel 10 Podcast
Length: 1s

This is a special episode, because after our last episode regarding Freddie Gray, things in our city have escalated to "state of emergency status". Artic recounts his story speaking with a looter/rioter in the emergency room, and from there we reflect on the protests and riots as a whole, growing up in Baltimore, Baltimore politics, the curfew and the National Guard coming in, experiences with racism and police, and once again we search for solutions. This is another two parter because we were talking for so long, on part two which is soon to come we get into some music talk. Listen, subscribe, and comment! Email us at channel10podcast@gmail.com. #TBT A Story About Seeing Bun B (@BunBTrillOG) In The Airport

2015-04-30 :: Channel 10 Podcast

We have enough content up now to participate in Throwback Thursdays (go us!), so for the first #TBT we bring back a segment from Episode 2 where Singod tells his story about seeing Bun B in an airport on his way back from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Bun B was quite agitated to say the least, yelling on the phone and then talking to his wife. It's always interesting seeing "celebs" as real people with their guard down without the glitz and glam, and it's always cool to go back to older episodes to see how far we've come on this podcasting journey, so check it out. Singod had a question to ask Bun, but out of respect for the Trill OG he didn't bother him, but hopefully we can get Bun B on the show for a conversation! On the full episode, we get into the University of Oklahoma Sigma Alpha Epsilon controversy (straight from the scene; Singod is a student there), Singod's academic excursion to Canada (including Canadian Country Music and their use of the exclamation "Yee Haw!" and experimentation on Native Americans in Canada), Kevin Hart and Will Ferrel's Get Hard movie, Will Smith, plus some Biggie, 2pac, Big L, and discussion of white rappers. Episode 5 - On Freddie Gray, the Baltimore Protests, & the Search For a Solution

2015-04-27 :: Channel 10 Podcast
Length: 2s

We had another more Hip-Hop based episode on deck, but we'll have to push that until next week. On this episode, recorded the day after the big Freddie Gray protests in Baltimore on the eve of Saturday 04/25/2015, we discuss the Freddie Gray incident, the protests after, and the history of Baltimore Police brutality and the cover ups. The conversation then takes a turn to more abstract but related topics of protests in general, making real social change, consciousness, the role of Black women in all of this, morality, the role of religious institutions, and ends with a powerful "rant" by Singodsuperior about the need for all humans to respect all other humans as human beings. At the end, we try to lighten it up a little bit with some Hip-Hop talk about what would be on our protest mixtape. #Shoutout to Baltimore BLOC, The Baltimore Spectator, Black Lawyers for Change, the Office of Neighborhood Safety in Richmond, CA, J. M. Giordano (@JMGPix on Twitter). #RIP to #FreddyGray! Listen, subscribe, and comment! Email us at channel10podcast@gmail.com. Episode 4 (Part 2) - Pimp Juice In Your Mouth

2015-04-24 :: Channel 10 Podcast
Length: 1s

We're so consistent right now that we're doing part 2s to episodes. After the weight of the race issues and the nostalgia of reminiscing of part 1 of episode 4, we get a little lighter by getting into Kool Keith's "Sex Styles" album and "Total Orgasm" mixtape series, Necro and horrorcore & pornocore sub-genres in Hip-Hop, and reinventing your identity in Hip-Hop al la MF Doom (aka Zev Love X from KMD), Gnarls Barkley(Cee-Lo Green and Dangermouse), etc. From there we get into what artists with a diverse catalog decide to perform and some of Nas' song selections for his albums, especially his mega-controversial N-Word album. We get into the evolution of how music is released in the digital age, our uncle's Hip-Hop preferences (including LL Cool J's Headsprung...still can't figure out what that song was about). We also speculate on snoring coke from mirrors, and we have banter about various rappers and Hip-Hop related things including Jay Electronica, Cormega, Wu-Tang, DJ Mathematics, La The Darkman, AZ, Black Milk, Elzhi, J.Cole, Slum Village, Madlib, J Dilla, the importance of featuring on another artists track, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, rappers finding religion, Nelly shooting up blocks and doing meth (and his career accomplishments as well), stories regarding Pimp Juice, Crunk Juice, & 4 Loko, the lady accused of sleeping with the entire Wu-Tang Clan, seeing people you grew up listening to (like Saigon & Peter Gunz) on Love and Hip-Hop & other reality TV, and the structure of Hip-Hop groups though history such as X-Clan, Public Enemy, and Little Brother. Definitely an insightful and entertaining conversation, listen, subscribe, and comment! Episode 4 (Part 1) - Black Education & Personal Classics (Ya Trick Ya!)

2015-04-21 :: Channel 10 Podcast
Length: 1s

We're going to break down this episode into two parts. In part one we get deep into recent race issues such as the Black men shot by police in Tulsa, Oklahoma in South Carolina, as well as our experiences with racism in the past week. We get into white people treating us as pets because of our hair and how Black people, especially young Black men, get a separate "Black Education" from our parents that we get in addition to traditional schooling in order to survive. From there we get into what we're eating and foods as aphrodisiacs. This is supposed to be a Hip-Hop podcast, so of course we get into albums that mean something to us and reminiscing about Soulja Boy, Master P The Last Don and No Limit, Kanye West and College Dropout, Twista and his Kamikaze album, Lil Wayne, Nardwuar interviews, Nas albums, Camron & Dipset, Young Jeezy, and a lot more. We get personal in this episode about our connection to music growing up & Singod's older brother's influence on our musical tastes. Shoutout to Howard University & Drew Hall! Definitely an episode you don't want to miss! Make sure you follow us and check for us. Episode 3 - Chopping Vegetables In Grad School

2015-04-12 :: Channel 10 Podcast
