EaglesFanCast 144 - Eagles Pre-Draft 2013

2013-04-25
Length: 1s

For the fifth straight year, we have the amazing Tommy Lawlor with us to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles Draft prospects.  Tommy is with Iggles Blitz, Scouts Notebook, Eagles Blog, Helmet 2 Helmet Show, and of course the Eagles’ Fan-Demonium.  We talk the 2013 Philadelphia Eagles Draft, how things differ under new head coach Chip Kelly, what we may expect from the Eagles’ picks both this year and next, and many other expectations.  The new era for our Eagles takes its next big step.

Also in this show, co-host Steve Brown shares with us an interview he did with former Philadelphia Eagles player, Cecil Martin.  We get to talk about what Cecil is doing after playing, where he came from, and what a quality person he is.

EaglesFanCast 143 - Dysfunctional

2012-12-04
Length: 35s

Well the Philadelphia Eagles lose their 43rd straight game, all hell breaks loose, cats and dogs are living together, and it’s complete anarchy.

Perhaps that’s a bit melodramatic, but it sure feels that way, doesn’t it?  The Eagles lose their eighth straight game, another coach (in Jim Washburn) is fired, and it becomes public that he was a bully and disruptive to the team!  What else is going to happen to this Eagles team before the merciful end of the season happens in a few weeks?

In this show, though, we talk about Bryce Brown’s play, both good and bad.  Todd feels that the Eagles also have to clean house of players as well as coaches, letting go of Vick at the end of the season, and trading Shady McCoy and Desean Jackson.  Chuck doesn’t agree with all of that, and feels that good coaches can instill better play from the talent that’s here, including building leaders.  We try to stay positive, and have several laughs, but it’s obvious that Eagles Nation is depressed at this point.  We’ll move forward though… we’re Eagles fans.

EaglesFanCast 142 - Who's the New Coach?

2012-11-29
Length: 39s

After a few weeks off due to sickness… the flu, not sick of the Eagles… we are back to discuss our favorite, yet hapless, team.

The season is essentially over, there is little doubt left that Andy Reid is coaching his last games as an Eagle, and the fans have given up all hope.  We talk about how this season was the perfect storm against the team; with multiple injuries ruining sections, star players having just horrible years, and poor coaching from the top down.  The Eagles, and owner Jeffrey Lurie, are at a crossroads.  We were asked who would we hire as the new head coach, and we fumble over the answer, as we just get lost in the speculation.

One thing we are very unsure of, with a major change coming, are the Eagles headed into years of mediocre results, or will a new coaching staff be able to ignite the arguably very talented player base into a playoff contender again?  Unfortunately we will have to wait another ten months to find out.  After how this season has transpired, this will be a very long wait… and there are still weeks, and undoubtedly losses, to go in this season.

EaglesFanCast 141 - Have Hope

2012-11-06
Length: 18s

The Philadelphia Eagles fall to the New Orleans Saints at Lincoln Financial Field, on Monday Night Football, and all but cement this season as a total failure.  Eagles fans’ reactions range from anger to apathy, and many wonder if moves by the Eagles’ upper management shouldn’t be made now instead of at the end of the season.  Speculation is everywhere, yet fans we have to endure the pain of not being able to do a thing but sit and watch a sad display week after week.

This week Chuck flies solo in a short show due to scheduling issues, and next week’s show will be put out on Thursday instead of Tuesday.  I talk a bit about the game, how people can help out the victims of Hurricane Sandy, updates to our iPhone / Android app, and the upcoming Dallas Cowboys game.

It’s all good, Eagles fans, we’ll endure this together, debate the reasons we’re suffering, and still have some bit of hope.

EaglesFanCast 140 - Hurricane Andy

2012-10-30
Length: 46s

The Philadelphia Eagles and esteemed Head Coach Andy Reid use the BYE week effectively to prepare for the powered Atlanta Falcons.  Unfortunately the Falcons coaching staff prepared as well, and handed the Eagles a 30-17 loss, embarrassing the Eagles at home.  Vick continued to struggle despite not turning the ball over, and appeared after the game as a beaten man.  The beginnings of the rain from Hurricane Sandy began to fall around halftime, and the fans gave up shortly thereafter, as it was obvious to everyone that there was no heart left in the Eagles team that used to give all to overcome anything.  We also partnered with GM’s Driving the Northeast, and they are letting me drive a GMC Terrain Denali for the week.  I took that to the tailgate this Sunday, and everything I brought easily fit, and the ride and technology in the dash made it a lot of fun to drive.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Falcons 30-17 at the Linc, and the fans lost heart quickly The Atlanta Falcons are a rhythm Offense, and the Eagles defensive scheme was horrible, with Casey Matthews playing hopelessly Michael Vick is just beaten, and seems to be saying it now Andy Reid seems clueless in what to do next, but he has a huge decision to make; start Vick or Foles against the Saints on Monday Night Football on the road I’m driving the GMC Terrain Denali thanks to the folkds at Driving the Northeast Met up with Carmen Harris and George in the lots before the game… we had hope then! What we discussed:

Is Andy Reid gone after this season no matter the Eagles season result? Only Jim Johnson should ever have run Jim Johnson’s Defense New Defensive Coordinator, Todd Bowles possibly just needs to tweak the scheme to make a big difference Andy Reid is responsible for every player on this team at this point in his tenure We review the rest of the games for the season, including the upcoming Atlanta Falcons game this week at The Linc Links: Bleeding Green Nation

EaglesFanCast 138 - Andy Reid, Smoke Screen

2012-10-16
Length: 54s

Well the Philadelphia Eagles host the Detroit Lions at Lincoln Financial Field in south Philly.  They give up two 10-point leads during the game, quarterback Michael Vick turns the ball over three more times, and the Eagles lose in overtime 26-23.  The way this season has gone with the caliber of coaching and play, we are not truly surprised by this outcome.  Yet a mere two days later, the Eagles fire Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo and hire Todd Bowles for the job.  This news set off a firestorm of reaction by fans throughout Eagles Nation, some cheering the decision, and many more saying it still is not enough to patch the leaking holes in this ship.  Many state that Offensive Coordinator Marty Mornhinweg should also be fired, Mike Vick should be benched, and even Andy Reid himself should be sent packing.  It may not be the pacifier Reid was hoping for with this move, but we hope this is one step to a greater change for this team.

What we discussed:

Eagles fire Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo, and more anger than praise is released toward the team Andy Reid is only there because of Jim Johnson and what he accomplished with the Defense The wrong coordinator was fired… it should have been Marty Mornhinweg Reid’s firing of Castillo was a smoke screen! Vick had a look of despair on the sideline at one point in the Lions game after an interception, his mind is not right for this game right now Could the Castillo firing actually be part of a front office plan to get Todd Bowles eventually head coach? Vick is not the leader this team needs Todd Bowles needs to just run the Defense effectively, and be more aggressive

EaglesFanCast 137 - Turnovers Again

2012-10-09
Length: 40s

The Philadelphia Eagles march into Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers and Big Ben Roethlisberger, holding to just over 200 yards passing, and the Eagles Defense only allowing 16 total points.  Sounds great, right?  Well unfortunately the Birds Offense struggled again, especially Quarterback Michael Vick, who fumbled the ball three times, losing two of them, allowing him to be the league-worst with eleven turnovers.  Eagles fans are now calling for Vick’s benching, and once again getting increasingly loud in the chant to fire Head Coach Andy Reid for not making the necessary adjustments and erasing the continued bad play.  Although the Eagles are 3-2 on the season, it feels like 0-5, and this team’s repeated mistakes could very well catch up with, and bury, them quickly unless change happens immediately.  This is a team change that must happen, not just a few individuals.

What we discussed:

Vick fumbles the ball and the game, away The Defense couldn’t put enough pressure on Roethlesberger the NFL is more of a running league, and the Eagles have one of the best back in McCoy Many Eagles fans in general are absolutely angry We are not as angry, and see 3-2 as a decent start Turnovers have to stop, and the Defense has to get more more pressure, and turnovers

EaglesFanCast 136 - Giant Killers

2012-10-02
Length: 50s

In an emotional and amazing game, the Philadelphia Eagles beat NFC East rivals New York Giants 19-17 in the final minutes of the game.  This leaves the Eagles at 3-1 on the early season, and once again alone at the top of the Division.  The game ended in heart-stopping fashion as Andy Reid tried to ice Giants’ kicker Lawrence Tynes by calling a timeout a split second before the ball was snapped… yet the ball went wide left.  With the entire stadium now watching a second 54-yard attempt, Tynes kicks it away only to drop it short, and handing the Eagles their third win on the year.  Part of what made this game special was beloved former Safety Brian Dawkins was there as the Eagles retired his number, and had a special halftime ceremony for BDawk.  He was an amazing player, always put his heart in every play on that field, and was loved by all Eagles fans.  Guest-hosting this week was Emoney, of Philly Sports Cast fame, and also Steve Brown who stops in to talk about his week-long trip to Philly and his experience at the game.

What we discussed:

Eagles win in dramatic fashion at Lincoln Financial Field Offensive play calling completely balanced Brian Dawkins number retirement and amazing halftime tribute The Eagles going 3-1 at this point is a very good thing, and allows for even better things moving forward Special teams coverage was horrible No turnovers! Andy Reid icing the Giants kicker – probably will never be called again Steve Brown from the UK also joined us and talks about his Philly adventures this week

Length: 34s

The Philadelphia Eagles fall apart, mostly on the Offensive side of the ball this week, and lose to the Arizona Cardinals, 27-6 on the road.  Many things went wrong, and we pretty much blame quarterback Michael Vick, the Offensive Line, Coach Andy Reid and Coach Marty Mornhinweg.  Alas, the Eagles are now 2-1 on the season, and if they fix the issues plaguing them now, are on a solid track moving forward on the season.  Speaking of moving forward, rival New York Giants drive down the Turnpike and show up at Lincoln Financial Field for some Sunday evening festivities.  The Eagles crowd will surely be there to welcome them with open arms, and mouths.  Also at the game Sunday night will be a tribute to one of the greatest Eagles, Brian Dawkins.  His number will also be retired in a much-deserved ceremony.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Arizona Cardinals in embarrassing fashion Michael Vick is again under attack and on the turf often, getting almost no protection from his Offensive line The New York Giants come to down in a rivalry showdown on prime time television Eagles great Brian Dawkins will receive a tribute and the Eagles will retire his number The NFL’s replacement referees are thankfully gone, and the regular refs are back after the dispute with their union is finally settled

Length: 53s

Our Philadelphia Eagles play the home opener against the Baltimore Ravens in a slugfest and the Eagles come out on top, banged and bruised, but winners.  This leads the Eagles to be 2-0 on the season, and sitting at the top of the NFC East Division.  We saw the team pick itself up and continue to fight the entire game, despite more turnovers that would have done most other teams in on the day.  To make it even better, the team fought from a deficit in the fourth quarter to take the lead late, and the Defense once again did a phenomenal job to keep the Ravens Offense from scoring.  Unfortunately the Eagles lose center Jason Kelce for the year when he tore is knee’s MCL and partially tore his ACL.  He will surely be missed on the Offense.

Cody Benjamin from Bleed Green joins us this week, and we talk about the Ravens game, coaching efforts, improvements, and the coming Arizona Cardinals game on the road.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Baltimore Ravens 24-23 Michael Vick shows confidence and determination that we didn’t see a lot of when Donovan McNabb was under center Brent Celek had an amazing game, and helped the fans go crazy with acrobatic and enthusiastic display DeMeco Ryans is emerging as the powerhouse leader of the Defense The Eagles Defense looked especially good this week, and the Defensive coaching schemes were great to handle what the Ravens threw at them Coaching all around in this game was impressive… adjustments were key Eagles travel to Arizona to take on a tough Cardinals team Links: Bleed Green School of the Legends Bleed Green’s 2012 Eagles Preview

EaglesFanCast 133 - Moments of Mediocrity

2012-09-11
Length: 1s

The 2012 NFL and Philadelphia Eagles season kicked off, and the result of a win was what we expected.  The WAY in which they won was not what was expected.  With QB Michael Vick throwing four interceptions, all but one of our Offensive line committing penalties, and a fully unbalanced play scheme, the Eagles barely win against a below average Cleveland Browns.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Cleveland Browns 17-16 There were way too many mistakes in coaching, play calling, and fundamentals DeMeco Ryans played great and is exactly what the Eagles had hoped for Andy Reid recognized that his play-calling should have had more runs Ray Lewis and the Ravens Defense is going to be more than a test for this Eagles Offense This week is all about the coaching Our safeties and cornerbacks did the job they needed to shut down Brandon Weeden

EaglesFanCast 132 - Foles Continues to Shine

2012-08-28
Length: 50s

Three preseason games down, and the Philadelphia Eagles win their third.  This time backup quarterback Nick Foles takes the start while Mike Vick gets some rest for his ribs.  Foles continues to do very well, showing great things as a future starter with this organization.  The Eagles beat the Cleveland Browns 27-10 under his leadership.  We talked about how Vick needs to protect himself during this season and not put himself out there on every play if there are huge risks.  He has to throw the ball away or slide (feet first, of course.)  What we want overall, besides a safe quarterback, is a controlled and balanced Offense this year.  With the caliber of running backs we have, this Offense could be deadly if balanced correctly.

Our guest this week is EFC contributor Holden Fulco, and he brings up an former Eagles player who is also not doing well, in the name of Kevin Kolb.  The conversation then shifts to what the organization sees that we as fans do not, and most of the time the players that leave the Eagles do not thrive.

The Eagles organization had both good news and sad this week, with the sad being we learned of the death of legend Steve Van Buren.  Any Eagles history book has to mention him, and his accomplishments are still talked about to this day.

On the positive side, modern favorite Brian Westbrook announced that he would retire an Eagle.  Still amazes me as to how lucky I have been to have watched him live on that field so many times.  An amazing player and great person.  I’m glad he is retiring with us.

EaglesFanCast 131 - Quarterbacks

2012-08-21
Length: 48s

Two games into preseason, and two games our starting quarterback Michael Vick leaves with an injury.  This time it looked just as scary as the first week, and lucky for him (and fans), all scans come up negative for broken ribs or cartilage.  Backup rookie quarterback Nick Foles once again impresses and takes control of the Offense for three and a half quarters, leading the Philadelphia Eagles over the New England Patriots 27-17 on Monday Night Football.  We expect Foles to pretty much get the remainder of the preseason playing time so Vick can rest his sore ribs and pretty much not get killed before the start of the regular season, plus Kafka is still going to be out until Week 1 or so.  This is fine with Eagles fans, as right now we cannot get enough of seeing the future leader get as much NFL experience as possible.

Others that impressed us in the game were Mychal Kendricks, Bryce Brown, Phillip Hunt, and Brandon Boykin.  Those who did not impress were the replacement refs -shudder-.  Obviously it’s preseason, so we’re not going to see too much from the Offense or Defense regarding specialty plays, yet we do expect the team to improve in terms of discipline and basic mechanics.

We had an email from Herbert in Philly, and a few voicemails from Ross in DC… remember, voicemail records for only three minutes!  LOL  Thanks for the feedback, you guys are great.  A special thanks to Steve Brown who stayed up very late to hang with us this week.  Good on ya!

We are back after an extended Summer break, and we couldn’t be more excited for the new Eagles season!  We catch up a bit, welcome in guest co-host Ryan Mains, and discuss what has been going on with the midnight green and silver.  As is typically the case as Training Camp winds down and we have our first pre-season game at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team shakes off some of the rust.  We saw some exciting play from Boykin and Foles, some sloppy Defensive tackling, Kafka out for a few weeks with a broken hand and the end of Training Camp.  The second pre-season game is on the road on Monday night against the New England Patriots.

No matter how the game went, and we believe we saw more good than bad… it’s the start of the 2012 Philadelphia Eagles season.  There are high expectations for this team again this year, and we have a lot to look forward to.

Something that is a must-read for every Eagles fan is the “Bleed Green’s 2012 Eagles Preview” put together by Cody Benjamin of Bleed Green.  There are a ton of contributors in this including Les Bowen, Tim McManus, Jason Brewer, Jeff Warner, Chuck Stanley (of EaglesFanCast, of course), Cody Benjamin, and more.  The magazine is available in both print and digital editions.  I highly recommend this!

2012-05-04
Length: 1s

The NFL Draft 2012 is now in the history books.  We are back with the scouting guru Tommy Lawlor to work through everything our Philadelphia Eagles did during the Draft weekend.  The Eagles went after the players they targeted, moving around in the order to get them.  We discuss how this all came about, and was each one worth it?  Overall things looked good for the team and if the new additions can make a difference this coming season, then the Eagles are an improved team overall.

The NFL Draft 2012 is a week away, and as in previous years we have it covered thanks to a great friend in Tommy Lawlor.  Tommy helps us weed through all of the speculations, rumors and anxious fan concerns leading up to this year’s Eagles Draft.  We discuss the year’s draft class, what the Eagles need, try to understand what Andy Reid might be thinking, and the overall approach the Eagles will take to address the needs of the team for the near future as well as the positions to be addressed a few seasons from now.  It is never easy to decipher the extremely complicated plans that all of the teams have, but there are only a few days for them to put them together and execute starting next Thursday evening.  The 2012 Eagles season may be influenced in a huge way by this Draft.

Well now things are getting interesting again.  The Philadelphia Eagles welcome the Jets to The Linc and trounce them 45-19, showing for the second week in a row a rather dominant Offense AND Defense.  Surprisingly, the Eagles are also still a faint glimmer in the playoff conversation, but need plenty of help the last two weeks of the season.  So no Eagles fans all over are at odds with their feelings on the team; those wanting head coach Andy Reid and Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo gone at any cost, and those that really enjoyed the Eagles teams that showed up the past two weeks.  It’s a very interesting thing that is going on in this regard, as all fans still bleed green, but are just disgusted at how the team as a whole played most of the previous twelve weeks.  Joining us this week is a return guest, Steve Malinowskifrom Tailgate365.com!

The Philadelphia Eagles return to their winning ways and defeat the Miami Dolphins in Miami, 26-10.  Although the Eagles played decidedly well in the game, one of the highlights was definitely the 20,000 Eagles fans that had quite a large voice and made themselves heard in Miami.  It was an absolutely awesome display and made all Eagles fans proud.  Overall, as we knew, the Eagles need to win out and get a lot of help to have a shot at the playoffs, and they took a small step this week in the win.  The New York Giants also beat the Dallas Cowboys which also helped the Eagles keep the chance alive.

What we discussed:

UK Steve Brown joins Chuck this week! Eagles beat the Dolphins and keep the remote playoff hopes alive Eagles fans still hold hope and get a step closer Michael Vick returns as quarterback this week and he ran a more efficient Offense The Defense impressed and kept the Dolphins to only three points the entire second half Some excellent emails and voicemails that injected some great points The New York Jets come to Philadelphia this coming week, and the concern is high, as the Eagles have not played well at home all season EFC FFL Upate – the playoffs are here! The Philadelphia Eagles fall to a horrendous 4-8 on the season after a 31-14 embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks.  Ironically enough the Eagles are NOT mathematically eliminated from the playoffs yet, as all three of the other NFC East teams, the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins all lost this weekend. To talk about this hapless division in the NFL, we have Jimmy Klempski from Blogging the Beast on the show.  Jimmy is also a contributor to Bleeding Green Nation.  We talk about the continued demise of this Eagles team, where some of the blame lies, and how the team needs to approach things heading out of this season.  But wait!  Despite the fact that the NFL Draft is even discussed at one point, there are still four regular season games left to play. This week is the Miami Dolphins, but do we dare even think about the possibility of things turning around for the Eagles, or are they too far gone at this point?

What we discussed:

Jimmy Klempski from Blogging the Beast joins us this week! Eagles lose to the Seattle Seahawks 31-14 and are now 4-8 on the season The Eagles’ problems are on all levels of the team Eagles Quarterback situation is NOT good What are the Eagles chances? We have a voicemail that defends Reid, and we address it Moving forward as a franchise might need quite a bit of housekeeping EFC FFL Upate – the playoffs are here! Still in it:

EaglesFanCast 124 - Fire Andy

2011-11-29
Length: 39s

The Philadelphia Eagles lose yet another home game, this time being embarrassed by the New England Patriots who methodically picked the Eagles apart like the Birds were a high school team. Yet the Patriots team is just a shadow of years past and the Eagles team is a professional football team with preseason aspirations of the Super Bowl. No more, as this loss essentially cements the team as one of the biggest disappointments in franchise history… and that says a lot. After squandering a 10-0 early game lead, the Patriots score three unanswered touchdowns. But the climax of the game occurred in the third quarter when about a quarter of the fans in attendance started chanting “Fire An-dy! Fire An-dy!”  Make no mistake about it, it was loud, and it was intentional. It sent a direct message not only to Andy Reid, but to Eagles owner Jeff Lurie. The chant again arose in the fourth quarter as the team continued to implode under Reid’s girth. To underscore the frustration and message, with just over eight minutes left in the fourth quarter, about half of the fans stood in unison and walked out of the stadium… out on the players, out on the coaches, and out on the owners. At the end of the game, there were almost as many Patriots fans in attendance as there were Eagles fans… something I never thought I would ever see.

What we discussed:

Eagles fans sent an audible message to coach Andy Reid and owner Jeff Lurie at the Eagles game during yet another home loss What do fans have to do to get Lurie’s attention? Some fans have declared not to buy or ask for any Eagles gear during this Holiday season as a way of hurting the bottom line of the Eagles organization This season is unequivocally over, despite not being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention yet. Anyone still holding out hope of a December race is fooling themselves Andy Reid has lost complete control of this team, with players not committing to playing their best, penalties and mental mistakes, and even coaches arguing on the sidelines… it just shows how far this team has fallen The frustration is now done, and Eagles fans now only hope that Reid will no longer be the coach of their team in 2012 The Eagles now have a very short week, traveling across the country to Seattle to play the Seahawks on Thursday night Connect with the survivors:

Length: 35s

As the 2011 Philadelphia Eagles NFL season continues in all of its dual personality, our own Eagles defeat the NFC East 1st place New York Giants in a game that came down to the final minutes.  The culmination of the game was backup Quarterback Vince Young, playing for injured Michael Vick, led his Offense on an 18-play drive for a touchdown that lasted 8:51, breaking the tie and going up 17-10.  Not long after, the Eagles Defense, which dominated most of the game, forced an Eli Manning fumble, stopping the Giants’ drive, and allowing the Eagles to win the game.  What was impressive was that the Eagles starting quarterback (Vick) and wide receiver (Maclin) were both out with injuries, allowing Young and Riley Cooper to fill their shoes, and they did it well. The Eagles won this game in the fourth quarter, something they have struggled with horribly this year, losing five games when leading in the fourth.  It sounds like a great win, and it was, not because of how the game was played, because there were plenty of mistakes and was ugly at times, but because we were able to see the Eagles dig down and do what they HAD to do to win.  The game was played with heart and determination, and we hope that carries the rest of the season that has so far brought disappointment.

What we discussed:

Eagles Defense stepped up big Shady McCoy again had a great game, despite the Giants “stopping” his cutbacks most of the game Riley Cooper had a great game in the WR spot for the injured Maclin, and caught his first touchdown pass Vince Young should assume the locker room leadership role and mentor Vick and the team Eagles have to cover two tight ends on the Patriots this week, and there is much concern for this EFC FFL update Connect with us Eagles fans:

EaglesFanCast 122 - How Do YOU Say Done?

2011-11-17
Length: 29s

What is there to say? The Philadelphia Eagles lose to the Arizona Cardinals and blow their fifth fourth quarter lead of the season.  At this point, with how the team played and the coaches failed, it’s very difficult to spin anything positive on how this season has progressed, and where they are going from here.  The Eagles travel up to play the New York Giants, but with the season already over, we do not see a chance that the Eagles will pull this game out and expect them to lose.  With much feedback in emails and voicemails this week, we have seen the fans’ disgust with head coach Andy Reid, and it seems that almost all want Reid gone. Thanks for the memories Coach Reid, but your time has passed, please leave your Chinese menu on the way out.  The time’s ours and we want to move on to the next chapter in this Eagles franchise history.

What we discussed:

Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson was benched for missing a team meeting. Pretty much Reid’s act was to set an example as a way to take back control Quarterback Michael Vick suffered two broken ribs near the beginning of the game, but it was not known until the game was over, and Vick played poorly as a result Shady McCoy under-utilized again, and again it hurts the team’s production Andy Reid has turned into a horrible coach and manager, showing very little intelligence, bad decision-making abilities and poor judgement The players on this Eagles team no longer have heart The fans have very little faith in the Eagles now, but still love the team Depressed and saddened:

EaglesFanCast 121 - Bears Eat Eagles Lunch

2011-11-10
Length: 36s

First of all, I want to dedicate this week’s show to all Veterans… of every service… of every country… of every sex, creed and belief. We honor what you do so we can do things like live freely, raise families in peace and enjoy what we make of our time on this planet. Your sacrifices allowed me to grow and raise a family of my own, and allows them to do the same.  Thank you.  Come home safely, welcome home to those who have served, and to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, rest in peace.

So here we are again. We discuss yet another head-scratching loss by the Philadelphia Eagles, at home, against a team they should have beaten… by less than a touchdown. The Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football beat the Eagles at The Linc 30-24 as the Eagles display the amazing ability by Head Coach Andy Reid to completely out-coach himself. What works one week cannot possibly work two weeks in a row, so the game plan that worked so effectively against the Dallas Cowboys the week before was drastically changed against the Bears.  Our Castillo-led Defense allowed the Bears to score early, and Reid appears to panic as a result, passing and no longer allowing the positive of the week before move the team forward.  (By the way, in the show I mentioned that the Bears went up 14-0, but in my head I was thinking “by two scores” and my words came out wrong.  Sorry. lol)

What we discussed:

Eagles lose 30-24 after Reid sees his team go down 7-0 in the first quarter, and panic seems to set in. We believe that there is no hope left in this season, and as a result, Andy Reid is done in Philadelphia Juan Castillo ran the Defense ineffectively, allowing Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler plenty of time to find his receivers in clutch situations Arizona Cardinals are coming to Philadelphia this week, and although we expect a win this week, the outlook for the rest of the season still seems dismal We briefly discuss the situation that broke this week regarding sexual abuse allegations involving the football coaching staff at Penn State Find us and tell us:

EaglesFanCast 120 - Dallas Destruction

2011-11-03
Length: 36s

How ’bout them Cowboys?! That was a thought repeated many times the past few days by many Philadelphia Eagles fans. The Dallas Cowboys sauntered into Philly for Sunday Night Football, with Rob Ryan talking his talk, and the Eagles go up by 34 points before the Cowboys scored their first touchdown, in the fourth quarter.  The Eagles did everything right in this game, from coaching, to concentration, to discipline, to playmaking.  It was one of those games as a football fan that you have to admire.  The fact that it happened against the hated Cowboys, in Philly, in front of an international audience, and with fueling the thoughts of a season comeback… well that was just icing on the cake.  Make no mistake about it, this was one of the biggest games of the season, and may have many repercussions moving forward.  No, this season is not over, not by a long shot.

What we discussed:

Eagles crush Dallas, 34-7 at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday Night Football, and the win was one that felt very good Eagles dominated on every aspect of the game, from top to bottom Jason Peters was just amazing again, and Trent Cole returned in great fashion UK Steve wrote in with questions as to who we would rather have on our team: Vince Young with Shady McCoy OR Michael Vick with Ronnie Brown Jason Avant angered some fans after the game with remarks about fans jumping back on the bandwagon, and he doesn’t want it Shady McCoy and Desean Jackson will need to be paid, but which one should the Eagles address first? 2011-10-25
Length: 1s

So we once again come across the Eagles BYE week, unofficially the mid-point of the Eagles season, despite only being six games in so far.  This is where, historically, fans and analysts (and hopefully coaches) assess the team, what has gone well, what has gone wrong and where things are going. We are no different, and as has been tradition, we invited our friend Jason Brewer from Bleeding Green Nation to join in on the Eagles conversation.  We talk the season so far, the Cowboys game this week, and even dip into the Donovan McNabb pool for a bit.

What we discussed:

Eagles grade at the BYE week has to be an ‘F’ We talk how the Eagles played against the Redskins The Eagles have three straight Home games coming up against the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Arizona Cardinals Sunday Night Football… which Dallas team will show up? The Eagles need to beat Dallas to instill confidence in us Out-think, not out-stink! EaglesFanCast 118 - Glimmer of Eagles Hope

The Philadelphia Eagles win their second game of the season, and do it against their NFC East Division rival, the Washington Redskins.  The Eagles Defense morphed this week into a more disciplined and aggressive system, which harassed Redskins’ quarterback Rex Grossman for most of the game, and our newest Safety Kurt Coleman had a career game with three interceptions on the day.  On the other side of the ball, the Eagles Offense put up a very impressive first half, looking more confident, but still struggled in the second half yet prevailed by our Defense to win the game.

This week we have Tommy Lawlor on to celebrate the win.  Tommy’s all over the web now, still writing for PhiladelphiaEagles.com, Scouts Notebook and his Eagles blog, Iggles Blitz.  Also joining Chuck and Tommy is big Eagles fan Steve Malinowski from the blog and podcast,Tailgate 365.  Was a fun time with both.

What we discussed:

Eagles get their second win of the season, and this win felt really good Kurt Coleman really shut up any detractors this week with his three interceptions of Rex Grossman We need the Eagles Offense to put together all four quarters The players love coach Andy Reid because he never throws any of them under the bus Team leadership Ronnie Brown is back on the Eagles after a failed trade with the Detroit Lions, after Jerome Harrison failed his physical Eagles go into their BYE week at a good time, then invite the Dallas Cowboys to town Links: Iggles Blitz The Scouts Notebook Philadelphia Eagles Fan-demonium Tailgate 365 Tommy Lawlor’s twitter – @lawlornfl Steve Malinowski’s twitter – @sjam316 Blitzing 365:

EaglesFanCast 117 - Eagles On The Brink

2011-10-12
Length: 51s

The Philadelphia Eagles find a way to lose again, on the road up in Buffalo against the Bills.  Now the Eagles are 1-4, with many problems ahead of them, and showing very little signs of being able to fix the problems left behind them in the previous four weeks. Fans predominantly blame Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo and as a result, Head Coach Andy Reid. Now the Eagles are on the brink of a total season failure with a mountain in front of them to overcome for the rest of the season.  This week they play their NFC East Division rival Washington Redskins.  A win there could boost team morale greatly as the team then moves into the BYE week.

One other thing, Philadelphia Eagles football legend Sonny Jurgensen will be recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Allstate Insurance Company in Wilmington, N.C., on Tuesday, Oct. 18, as part of “Hometown Hall of Famers.”  Please visit the site, Pro Football Hall of Fame for more information about this event.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose the fourth straight game, to the Buffalo Bills. Frustration of fans boils over with public displays of anger both online and outside with protests outside the Novacare Complex. There is optimism by fans, one such message we highlighted from a listener Tom’s email to us earlier today.  Please take a look. Eagles fans have not been jumping off the bandwagon, and still support the team, but are calling out the coaches and players to fix the major problems that have developed. Jason Avant calls a players only team meeting today, and it’s about time someone has done it! Late-breaking rumors that the Eagles are in negotiations with the Denver Broncos to trade a 3rd or 4th round pick for Linebacker D.J. Williams. So far there is no credence to this rumor at all, and we don’t expect it to happen. The EFC FFL update Connect and let us know:

EaglesFanCast 116 - Eagles Crumble

2011-10-04
Length: 52s

The Philadelphia Eagles lose yet again, this time to the San Francisco 49ers at Lincoln Financial Field.  They blew a 23-3 lead and lost by a score of 23-24, for the third game in a row scoring zero points in the 4th Quarter of the game and allowing their opponent to effectively run their Offense.  The fans’ heartache and frustration were displayed as a good portion of the stadium started chanting “Let’s Go Phil-lies!  Let’s Go Phil-lies!” during the last quarter of the game.  There is blame landing throughout the organization by fans, from the players (Maclin carrying the ball like a loaf of bread and easily getting it knocked loose, Ronnie Brown deciding to pass as he is falling to the ground, and Alex Henery missing two chip shot Field Goals), to the Assistant Coaches like Juan Castillo.  But none are feeling the anger like Head Coach Andy Reid.  Most feel he bears the brunt of the blame, and already some are saying he should be fired for yet another loss and not getting the players and coaches prepared.

What we discussed:

Most people are blaming Andy Reid for this loss, but Eric is blaming less Reid, and more on the players mistakes Injuries are now adding up and could hurt the team further Emails, voice mails and feedback on Facebook and Twitter reflect the Eagles fans’ anger The EFC FFL update Connect and let us know:

EaglesFanCast 115 - Giant Crash

2011-09-28
Length: 1s

The Philadelphia Eagles home opener against the New York Giants did not turn out the way most expected with the Eagles losing 16-29.  Many things broke down this week, including some huge coaching decisions that were questionable at best.  The run Defense continued to suffer, and player discipline also was suspect with costly dropped passes and game-changing penalties.  Quarterback Mike Vick injured his hand, originally thought to have been broken, which brought in backup Mike Kafka.  Kafka threw two costly interceptions, which sealed any kind of comeback.  It definitely ruined a fun day, with a tailgate full of pulled pork sandwiches and sausage peppers and onions made by my lovely wife!

Now the Eagles are in a situation where they have to win the next game against the 49ers, another NFC team, to both stop the slide, and regroup.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the New York Giants in the home opener and fall to 1-2, last place in the NFC East Coach Andy Reid has to own the brunt of the blame for this loss Mike Vick struggled badly before being injured Defense still being shuffled around, trying to fix the problems This week’s game against the 49ers is already a must-win game A question posed: “If we could trade for a player in the league, who would it be?” Thanks again to GMNortheast for loaning Eric and Chuck the Camaros The EFC FFL update Crashing together:

Length: 58s

A wild game down south as the Philadelphia Eagles put up 31 points only to lose to the Atlanta Falcons.  Dropped passes, turnovers, Defensive holes, coaching mistakes and Quarterback Michael Vick leaving the game because of a concussion were the many reasons this game was lost. Despite these, the Eagles put up numbers that would have beaten most teams in the NFL, and there were quite a few bright spots during the game. Some fans are angry and others look at it in the context of it being early in the season.  All told, for the most part the fans are on board with this team as continuing to be a force on both sides of the ball.

This week the Eagles host the New York Giants for the home opener in Philadelphia. With the Giants wanting revenge for the embarrassing loss they marked the last time these teams met, trash talking among some players and the media has started. It is looking like it’s going to be a great game.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Atlanta Falcons in a wild game Head Coach Andy Reid’s decisions and Offensive turnovers cost this game Jason Peters and Trent Cole both had amazing games Michael Vick and his turnovers The Giants are all hyped up for revenge and are talking trash Running back Shady McCoy is just so good, and it was amazing to watch him We talk briefly about our loaner cars from GMNortheast. EaglesFanCast 113 - Eagles Start Strong

2011-09-14
Length: 45s

The Philadelphia Eagles start off the 2011 NFL season with a big win over the St. Louis Rams.  After a rough start on both Offense and Defense, the team turns things around and outscore the Rams 31-6 after a remarkable Rams touchdown very early in the game. The Eagles players and coaches made the necessary adjustments and turned it around showing a tenacity and maturity that we hoped we would see from this team.  Next the Eagles go into Atlanta for a much-hyped game against our star quarterback’s former team, after they come off a bad loss.  It will be another big test early in the season leading up to the home opener the following week.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the St. Louis Rams 31-13 on the road to start the season off strong The Offensive line and linebackers definitely were the weak links as was suspected The team adjusted well early, both coaches and players It’s a learning process for the team, and the hope is they excel quickly Eric talks briefly about the Chevrolet Camaro convertible that GM Northeast was awesome enough to let him drive for the week. The Philadelphia Eagles play their third preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on a rainy night in Philly, leaving only one game before the welcome start of the regular season.  The big news, though, is the new contract that the Eagles and quarterback Michael Vick agreed to yesterday. Although the details vary, essentially it is a 6-year $100 million deal with almost $40 million guaranteed for our starting QB.  We talk about what that means to DeSean Jackson’s contract extension that both he and the fans want.  Either way, we will see Vick leading the Offense in midnight green for years to come.

What we discussed:

The Eagles beat the Cleveland Browns in the third preseason game Vick’s contract places him among the highest paid in the NFL Jason Kelce is named the new starting Center Both Danny Watkins and Kelce are starting rookies on the Offensive line, and it’s a concern for Vick’s safety Linebackers discussion The EFC Fantasy Football League will be back, and we will be using NFL.com this year. EaglesFanCast 110 - A Good Start

2011-08-16
Length: 34s

The first Philadelphia Eagles 2011 preseason game is in the can.  The Eagles beat the visiting Baltimore Ravens, with the green and silver offensive starters only playing for one series.  It’s not easy to get excited about preseason football, but it IS football, and the Eagles have become one of the most exciting teams to talk about since the lockout ended.  With so many new acquisitions, signings and trades, there are high hopes and we were all waiting to see this team take the field.  Obviously not much can be garnered from very little play, but what we saw was impressive.  Quarterback Michael Vick looked accurate and quick, taking the team down the field for a touchdown on the first drive.  The new Defense under new Defensive Coordinator Juan Castillo looked fast, and it was welcome to see them swarming the Ravens quarterbacks on almost every play.  Even questions about our rookie kicker and punter seemed to be satisfied.

But again, it is preseason, and only the first of four at that.  Some of those players on the field in the later quarters will not be on the team in just a few short weeks.  There is also the concern about Jeremy Maclin’s mystery illness, as well as Mike Patterson’s skull blood vessel complications to see work out.

The Eagles management has shown us that they had a plan for the offseason, and are still in the process of executing that plan.  The next few weeks will see some adjustments to the team, and we will soon see what the new Eagles will become.

Next week they travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers for the second preseason game, and we expect to see the starters play almost the whole first half.

EaglesFanCast 109 - Eagles on Fire

2011-08-02
Length: 56s

We try to address what the Philadelphia Eagles have done in free agency and trades over the past week, but it’s almost impossible within an hour’s time.  All we know for sure is that the Eagles have become more aggressive this off-season since the lockout ended than in any other year that we can remember, surely the most under current management.  We have to say, along with most other Eagles fans, that we are very excited for this season.  Although there are still concerns, such as the linebacker and kicker positions, the Eagles are a better team over last year at most positions.

What we discussed:

The Eagles have been on fire with moves and signings in a huge way all week Kicker Alex Henery reportedly kicking monster field goals consistently at Training Camp Linebacker position still a question, but it seems less of a concern with the rest of the lineup Will there be a trade of Asante Samuel since there are three stud corners? DeSean Jackson holding out at Training Camp, but he needs to be paid, it’s that simple Dallas’ Rob Ryan tried to stir the pot wit calling the Eagles (presumably) the “all hype team”. Meh.

EaglesFanCast 108 - The Lockout Is Over

2011-07-26
Length: 41s

The NFL lockout is over, and the teams, players and staff are reporting back to work in an official manner.  The day has been busy with news around the league, but not much so far in the Philadelphia Eagles camp, with only some rookie free agent signings and a number of rumors.

We come back from our lockout hiatus and jump into what we know so far and what we expect from here.

What we discussed:

The Philadelphia Eagles will not be re-signing any of their free agents Surprised that Stewart Bradley will not be back Longtime favorite David Akers, a kicking legend in Philly and the last of the Eagles Super Bowl team, will also be gone We talk about Kevin Kolb and how his status is affected by the Seahawks' signing of two quarterbacks Brett Favre coming to Philly? No way, Eskin. Somehow Todd gets to talking about how bad Donovan McNabb played in that fateful Super Bowl We get a voicemail from Elijah Smalls

EaglesFanCast 107 - Eagles Post Draft 2011

2011-05-10
Length: 1s

The 2011 NFL Draft is over, the dust has settled, the player lockout is back on, and we have Tommy Lawlor back on the show to talk all about the Draft.  We go over the picks, the repercussions, the Draft day moves and even touch on how things may have worked out for other teams we all love to hate.

What we discussed:

Tommy Lawlor is back for the 2011 Eagles Draft wrap up Danny Watkins was the Eagles first pick.  As a 26 year old rookie, is he too old?  Maybe he is the mature player with few miles on his body that the Eagles Offense needs With a 4th round Kicker drafted, Alex Henery pretty much means David Akers will no longer be an Eagle Safety Jaiquawn Jarrett was the Eagles 54th pick, and that will most likely mean Quintin Mikell will not be re-signed Curtis Marsh was taken in the 3rd round to fill a Cornerback spot The Eagles made four trades during the Draft this year Four Linebackers were drafted this year, and they are needed Casey Matthews – one of the most instinctive Linebackers out there in this class Redskins made some improvement Cowboys made some strange picks Giants made some questionable decisions

2011-04-26
Length: 1s

The NFL Draft starts primetime on Thursday, April 28 2011.  We have our old friend Tommy Lawlor back on, picking his mock-draft-making, player-analyzing, game-recording brain to find out about his feelings on this years Philadelphia Eagles prospects and picks.  As figuring it all out is futile for just about anyone, Tommy comes the closest with the deepest insight for Eagles fans on what our team will do starting Thursday.  It’s impossible to keep up with him, so we just press Record and listen in amazement and awe.

We touch on the news that U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson ordered an end to the NFL lockout, then move on to the Draft.  We talk players, potential moves, and how the lockout has affected things so far.  Tommy refers to this class as “below average” at one point, but we talk about the 2011 Class’s strength, Tommy’s favorite prospects for the entire draft, and more.

Tommy will be back again in two weeks (May 10th) for the annual post-Draft show where we will talk about what the Eagles accomplished this week.

EaglesFanCast 105 - Eagles Schedule 2011

2011-04-19
Length: 49s

After a few months’ hiatus, the show is back. Jason from Bleeding Green Nation andSB Nation Philly is on tonight and we talk mostly about the newly-released 2011 Eagles schedule. It’s so early to truly evaluate the schedule and the Eagles chances this year, especially with the uncertainty of the current NFL lockout and negotiations. Jason and Chuck touch on the lockout, and the trickle down issues having to do with player conditioning, finances and more.

Overall, we both feel that the schedule looks like a challenging one, but can be one that the Eagles can excel and prove themselves in a very public eye.  Five of the games are primetime, with three more in the later slot, so half of their schedule are nationally televised.  Eagles fans will get to see plenty of their team no matter where they are.

EaglesFanCast 104 - Playoff Crash

2011-01-11
Length: 1s

The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Green Bay Packers in the first round of the playoffs on Sunday of Wildcard Weekend.  The result was from a series of mistakes stemming from drops, penalties, missed field goals, missed tackles, missed opportunities, and missed coaching decisions.  It was another heartbreak loss in the playoffs. We try to come to terms with the loss and put the whole team into perspective with how the unexpected season transpired. With dozens of injuries throughout the season, the resurgence of Mike Vick as an MVP quarterback, winning the NFC East, and NO other East team even making the playoffs… it’s been one hell of a season, and one that builds excitement for what can be for 2011.

From an EaglesFanCast standpoint, thank you to everyone who listened in and joined us this season.  We had a lot of new listeners, from all over the world, and we heard from many of you, and it’s been great.  Please stay with us throughout the offseason, and we want to hear from you.  Let us know what you want to hear on future shows.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose in the first round of the playoffs to the Green Bay Packers The feeling of most fans at the end of this season is sadness Blame the coaches? Blame Akers? Blame Vick? Blame inexperience? We try to sort that out. The feeling of some is that we need a new Head Coach.  A coach that is a gameday coach, a clock management coach and a coach that can adjust. It was a season that was above our expectations, and now we expect big things for next season We briefly look at what we need moving forward Chuck talks about the tailgate setup this week, and Tom McAllister hung out too!

The Philadelphia Eagles win the NFC East, and take the #3 seed in the NFC for the playoffs.  They lose the last two games of the regular season to the Minnesota Vikings in an ugly display of football, and the Dallas Cowboys in a meaningless game.  In the Wildcard game, the Eagles host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at 4:30pm.  Lots of concerns for this game, as the Packers are playing very well, and the Eagles ended on a down note, and quite beat up.  Regardless, it’s still another exciting year of Eagles playoffs, and the only team from the East in the playoffs, capping off a surprise and unbelievable regular season.  Cannot wait for this game to start!

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Vikings and Cowboys to end the regular season.  Should we be concerned? Eagles are favored over the Packers by 2.5 points, but this game does not look good on paper for our Birds Not a whole lot of excitement being displayed by fans so far, and we talk about whether it’s concern or Eagles fans are used to a playoff team now Our esteemed cohost Eric becomes the first winner of the EFC Fantasy Football league NiDice returns this year with a brand new awesome song called “Eagles Young Guns”, and we play it for you with permission

EaglesFanCast 102 - Heart

2010-12-21
Length: 1s

Words barely can relate the exuberance the Eagles fans felt this past Sunday after erasing a 21-point deficit to the New York Giants.  The Eagles scored 28 unanswered points and found something in them that allowed them to execute one of the best comeback victories in the history of the NFL.  They put themselves firmly in first place in the NFC East with only two games left in the regular season, and now poised for a playoff berth.  It was an amazing victory on all sides of the ball, and they effectively changed the way every team now views the Philadelphia Eagles. No opponent can feel confident in a win, and every Eagles player now has the confidence that they can win every game no matter the circumstance or who they are lining up against.  It is a team of heart now, they believe it, and so do we.

Joining us on this week’s show is Tom McAllister, the author of the book, Bury Me In My Jersey: A Memoir of My Father, Football, and Philly

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the New York Giants, 38-31, scoring 28 points in the final eight minutes We go over the negative aspects of the game, meaning the first half and Andy Reid’s no challenge in the third quarter Chuck turned the game off when the Eagles were losing 31-10 and turned it back on at 31-31 The Eagles own the Giants, winning six straight games over them Michael Vick seemed to get better, with more stamina, in that fourth quarter Somehow we get comparisons to Donovan McNabb, and talk about how this team is so much better, with a new confidence, without him behind center in Philly We talk about Tom McAllister’s book, his inspirations for it, and what went into it The Eagles take on the Minnesota Vikings this week in a game that was flexed to 8:00

The Philadelphia Eagles travel down to Texas and put a whoopin' on the Dallas Cowboys, the hosts of the Super Bowl.  So much for playing the spoilers to the teams in the hunt for the playoffs this year. Whether an ugly win, a Texas-style stompin' or a shootout, an Eagles win over the Cowboys always makes for a good week. But the Eagles couldn't rest long, as the biggest game of the season lurks this week as they travel up the New Jersey Turnpike and take on the New York Giants for the battle for first place in the NFC East Division.  Both teams currently share that spot, and with only three games left in the regular season, both the Giants and Eagles know the importance of this game.  Both also are not 100% as players on both sides have fallen to injuries.  This game will be a test of Eagles coaching, discipline and heart.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys 30-27 in Texas Stewart Bradley goes out for the season with an ugly elbow dislocation Derrick Burgess brought back in to help with depth We talk about the horrific officiating in the game, again The conversation turns to Michael Vick, and America's bias... or acceptance of him Email from Craig in NY Can't talk about this game without talking about DeSean Jackson's incredible game Eagles go to play the Giants up in North Jersey The EFC Fantasy Football enters the playoffs

A full week ago the Philadelphia Eagles finished their fourth game in 18 days and beat the Texans at Lincoln Financial Field 34-24. With the team rested, recovering and with renewed focus, they head down to Dallas, Texas to take on the Cowboys.  The resurgent Cowboys want to play the spoilers as their playoff hopes are gone, and with the rest of the NFC as tight as it is, the Eagles have no choice but to play every game as tough as they can. This game has become another must-win in this already tough season, and the Eagles need to bring their skills, brains and heart to bring the rest of the season to a close, and head to the playoffs.

What we discussed:

EaglesFanCast 99 - Nothing To Worry About

2010-11-30
Length: 38s

The Chicago Bears beat the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldier Field on a day where the Eagles Offense, Defense, Special Teams and coaching all come up short for the team.  Despite that, and the NFC loss, we don’t see this as a tragic loss on the season, and see plenty of opportunity for the Eagles to make the December playoff run.  Playoffs?  Yes, this team that, three months ago, we saw as a rebuilding and .500 team is now poised to make a run at not only the playoffs, but also winning the NFC East.  This could be a great December for the midnight green and silver, and we are not going to let this loss bring us down too much.

What we discussed:

Eagles lost to the Chicago Bears as they did not play well on all sides of the ball Coach Andy Reid gave the team a very angry lashing after the game… well deserved The Houston Texans come to Philly on Thursday night, and we see a big win Email from Barry in New Jersey about how the Bears Defense is one of the only built to cover the Eagles this year The Eagles red zone issues are a concern, but we hope this is fixed quickly We are looking forward to a great December of Eagles football EFC Fantasy football weekly roundup

EaglesFanCast 98 - Another Giant Win

2010-11-23
Length: 59s

The Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants Sunday night for a battle for first place in the NFC East.  With wins coming both the Redskins and the Cowboys earlier in the day, the game became very big by the time 8:00pm rolled around.  Despite a worry by some that this game would be a let down after such a tremendous and historic win the previous week over the Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football, the Eagles overcame some mistakes and continued bad officiating to beat the Giants by ten points.  This places the Eagles atop the NFC East all alone and in the middle of the pack of the best teams now in the hunt for a playoff spot as November winds down.  Vick was not at his best, and there were key end zone drops by the ol’ reliables, Jason Avant and Desean Jackson.  The Eagles Defense played a great game, and although not recording a sack, had three interceptions and a fumble recovery that helped win the game.  Next, the Eagles travel to Chicago and take on the Bears in a very tough, and possibly critical NFC matchup.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Giants 27-17 at Lincoln Financial Field, moving to the top of the NFC East What are we thankful for this Thanksgiving? Jason Avant and Desean Jackson’s drops came close to beating us Again we take serious issues with the officiating Broadcaster Cris Collinsworth was all about disrespecting the Eagles on Sunday Night Football Michael Vick and Kevin Kolb options moving forward The Eagles go to Chicago and take on the Bears next Who will be this week’s star player? EaglesFanCast 97 - On The Road To Vicktory

2010-11-16
Length: 58s

Our Philadelphia Eagles put on an historic display to an amazed football fanbase the world over on Monday Night Football, and defeat the Washington Redskins 59-28.  The Eagles showed poise, maturity, skill and discipline on every side of the ball for a critical NFC East game, and dominated from the first play of the game.  It was truly an exciting game, with twelve touchdowns scored in total, with the Eagles scoring six of their eight in the first half alone.  The Defense dominated as well, not allowing the Redskins to convert a third down the entire game, and despite Donovan McNabb throwing for two touchdowns, the Eagles D intercepted him three times.  But the true star of this game was Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.  Vick, in this game alone, completed his transformation into one of the most dangerous players in the NFL.  From this point forward, all other teams that face the Eagles will have to prepare unlike for any other game they played before. Overall it was an incredible game to watch, and ranks as one of the most impressive Eagles victories in franchise history.

What we discussed:

Eagles destroy the Redskins 59-28 in Washington on Monday Night Football So much went right, on all sides of the ball Multiple records were set in the game, Vick was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, and the Football Hall of Fame requested Vick’s game jersey Michael Vick’s transformation to the player he is now is nothing short of amazing The Eagles Defense shut down many parts of the Redskins Offense, despite the four touchdowns given up We talk about some of the team statistics, thanks to the work of Bleeding Green Nation The Eagles next opponent is just as big, and is for sole first place in the NFC East, at home against the New York Giants Some fantasy football talk

EaglesFanCast 96 - Eagles Beat Refs

2010-11-09
Length: 55s

The Philadelphia Eagles overcome a horribly-officiated game and beat the Indianapolis Colts at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday. More than Colts quarterback Peyton Manning playing poorly, more than Eagles quarterback Michael Vick playing well, was the topic of the referees and how quickly they are tossing that little yellow flag through the air.  We recognize that there is extra pressure from the NFL now to protect players during the game, and it has exposed itself as bad calls that could have easily changed the course of this particular game in more than one instance. Despite all of this, and more than a dozen Eagles penalties overall, the Eagles win, and it may be a huge momentum builder going into next week's Monday Night Football game against the Washington Redskins.

What we discussed:

The Eagles are now 5-3 after beating the refs Indianapolis Colts in Philadelphia How many horrible calls did the refs make? Let us count the ways Eagles go to Washington to take on Donovan McNabb and the Redskins on Monday Night Football, no pressure, Donovan We want a huge game, a definitive win on national TV We go back to talking about the refereeing after some emails from Dennis Reminiscing about some notorious Eagles fan stories as we've experienced it Some laughable EFC Fantasy Football results

EaglesFanCast 95 - BYE Week Bender

2010-11-02
Length: 56s

We took a BYE week early, as a hard drive crash prevented us from recording after the Eagles – Titans game last week. But we are back with an extra week to nurse our wounds after the Eagles disintegrate in the fourth quarter of that game.  All is not lost as other teams in the NFC look to be on a downward spiral, plus we get some injured players back into the starting lineup. A very tough game is coming up this week after the BYE, as the hot Indianapolis Colts pay a visit to the City of Brotherly Love on Sunday. Also joining us this week for our annual BYE week tradition is Jason Brewer from the excellent Bleeding Green Nation.

What we discussed:

Eagles lose to the Tennessee Titans as inexperience in players and coaching lead to an ugly 4th quarter Ellis Hobbs appears to have been demoted, or he is injured, we are not sure. Regardless, Dmitri Patterson replaces him in the cornerback position. Inexperience definitely played a factor in last week’s loss to the Titans Jason Peters will be back in his starting slot, and should stay away from microphones Michael Vick is also back from his injury and takes the starting quarterback role from Kevin Kolb The Indianapolis Colts scare the hell out of us this week We broach the obvious topic: Donovan McNabb and his current issues in Washington Former Eagle Jon Runyan is now a member of the U.S. House of Representatives!

2010-10-19
Length: 52s

The Philadelphia Eagles pull together behind a stellar performance from backup (!?) quarterback Kevin Kolb and beat the Atlanta Falcons in Lincoln Financial Field, 31-17.  The day was warm, the sun was shining, and the Eagles had a 21-0 lead before the Falcons scored. Special Teams, Defense and Offensive Line all had a great day, and allowed Kolb to work his magic, while stopping the Falcons repeatedly. Unfortunately the day was not perfect, as we witnessed star receiver DeSean Jackson go out with a severe concussion after a terrifying hit, and ol’ reliable kicker David Akers miss three field goals.

What we discussed:

Eagles beat the Falcons in Philadelphia and travel next week to play the Tennessee Titans WR Desean Jackson’s concussion and hit, plus we talk about other hard hits in the NFL this week Kevin Kolb was phenomenal this week, completing 23 of 29 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns The Defense stepped up, with King Dunlap making an remarkable turnaround from last week Trent Cole was a monster, and Stewart Bradley looks like he’s improving as well Tailgating this week was a lot of fun, with UK Steve visiting Philly on a sports tour that is becoming legendary, and Jason from Bleeding Green Nation hung with us as well.
