The pleasant aura of John Paul II still lingers for many, while the shortcomings of Benedict XVI still color the current scene. More importantly, given the Pope's exalted position in the world, many will be asking how Pope Francis will change the Papacy.----The fact remains, however, that since the early 19th century the Office of the Papacy has been set on a course of action that no individual pope will reverse.----How can this be so- Constantine decreed Christianity the religion of the Roman Empire Setting the Stage for the Mystery of Iniquity In 330 A.D., Emperor Constantine moved the seat of the Imperial Roman Empire from Rome to Constantinople. BLOG: New Video: The Financial Crisis and the Catholic Socialist Offensive

2013-01-25

A financial crisis is rocking the world's economies. Many are searching for a solution to the crisis here and abroad. Biblical principles regarding how we live and provide for our families and ourselves that bring stability and well-being into societies are ignored. Moreover, while socialism is on the rise, the Catholic Church is helping in advancing it with its socialistic agenda. The anomaly is the fact that while there is abject poverty in numerous nations overtaken by socialism, many world leaders are already prepared to accept it.

The Vatican officially states, "With her social doctrine, the Church aims 'at helping man on the path of salvation.' This is her primary and sole purpose." However, mankind's purpose by nature is to be free to determine his own well-being. When mankind's purpose is opposed to the objective of the Vatican, it is time to be alert and sound the alarm. In this DVD Pastor W. J. Mencarow and former Catholic priest Richard Bennett document the Vatican's surprising position and what are real biblical solutions to the contested crisis. Kindly make this crucial DVD known to others by forwarding its URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4OXmBlgcdI

BLOG: Romanist or Protestant?

2013-01-07

The meaning of justification by faith alone has been largely forgotten in the professing Christian Church. The meaning of justification has been forgotten, and so has the meaning of faith. But mere forgetting is not the whole issue. In addition to our sinful tendency to forget God’s truth (a tendency that the writers of the New Testament were well aware of, for they repeatedly said that they were writing to remind believers), false teachers, wolves in sheep’s clothing, have worked diligently to twist the Scriptural doctrine of justification. The teaching of the Roman State-Church is a prime example of this. The following ten questions are designed to test your knowledge of justification by faith. After you have taken the quiz, perhaps you could ask a teacher in your church to take it as well. You might be surprised to find that many more than you expected are confused on this cardinal doctrine of Christianity.

In each of the following 10 choices, mark either (a) or (b), whichever is correct.

1. (a) God gives a sinner right standing with himself by mercifully accounting him innocent or virtuous.

(b) God gives a sinner right standing with himself by actually making him into an innocent and virtuous person.

2. (a) God gives a sinner right standing with himself by placing Christ’s goodness and virtue to his credit.

(b) God gives a sinner right standing with himself by putting Christ’s goodness and virtue into his heart.

3. (a) God accepts the believer because of the righteousness found in Jesus Christ.

(b) God makes the believer acceptable by infusing Christ’s righteousness into his life.

4. (a) If a person is “born again” (regenerate), he will receive right standing with God on the basis of his new birth.

(b) If a person is “born again” he receives right standing with God on the basis of Christ’s work alone.

5. (a) We receive right standing with God by faith alone.

(b) We receive right standing with God by faith which has become active by love.

6. (a) We achieve right standing with God by having Christ live out his life of obedience in us.

(b) We receive right standing with God by accepting the fact that Christ obeyed the law perfectly for us.

7. (a) We achieve right standing with God by following Christ’s example by the help of his enabling grace.

(b) We follow Christ’s example because his death has given us right standing with God.

8. (a) In justification, God pronounces that we are good in his sight.

(b) In justification, God sends his Spirit to make us good.

9. (a) Christ’s intercession at God’s right hand gives us favor in the sight of God.

(b) It is the indwelling Christ that gives us favor in God’s sight.

10. (a) Only by faith in the doing and dying of Christ can we satisfy the claims of the Ten commandments.

(b) By the power of the Holy Spirit living in us, we can satisfy the claims of the Ten Commandments.

Is this a teaching which comes from John Calvin in Geneva some 500 years ago, or is it a Biblical doctrine- What saith the Lord- What is the teaching from the Scripture-----Come and listen to what the Lord reveals to us on this question. If it is from the Lord, and not man, what is the purpose behind predestination- Would it not give perspective to those on both sides of the debate, to frame our discussion with God's purpose for predestination-…

Faith, Reason & Evidences

2012-10-04 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 46s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Faith, Reason & Evidences
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 9/30/2012
Bible: Hebrews 11:1; Ephesians 2:8
Length: 46 min. (64kbps)

Overview: To modern man, the Bible is on trial, and he judges whether or not it is true. If he finds it to his liking he might believe it, at least the parts that make sense to him. That is man-centered faith, which is not faith at all.---- This is how many Christians witness- they talk about what Christ has done in their lives, they cite -evidences- from archeology, science, history, etc. They try to talk people into the kingdom. Often that produces man-centered faith and phony -conversions.----- The Lord says in Heb. 11-1 that that faith comes before evidence. In fact, Heb. 11-1 says that faith IS the evidence e all the evidence you need. How can that be- This is backward to the way modern Western minds think. We are trained to think that our reason looking at evidence is sufficient to judge everything, including the Bible. But the Bible says faith must govern our reason.---- Almost all people have reason, but not all people fear the Lord, and the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom -Ps. 111-10 and other places-. Reason and wisdom are two different things. Faith, so called, that comes from reason is not faith at all. Faith is a gift from God -Eph. 2-8-10-.---- But what of reason- Surely I am not saying that you should believe something in the Bible if it goes against your reason- That is precisely what I am saying. -1- Your reason -and mine- fell in the Garden of Eden and is corrupt. It often gives wrong answers- -2- Your reason was created by God. What is created cannot judge the One who created it.---- This sermon has much more.…

Bible: Revelation 22:13-14; 1 John 3:24
Length: 34 min. (64kbps)

Overview: -Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city.- -Rev. 22-14-.-----You Calvinists, believers in sovereign grace, in election and predestination, that salvation is all of God and nothing of man, this verse proves you wrong. It could not be more clear- It says that those who do God's commandments will be saved.-----Yes, the verse says that. And if the Bible says it, we must believe it.----What we don't have to believe, in this case should NOT believe, are our own assumptions about what words mean, especially words in the Bible. The Bible must be its own dictionary.----This sermon explains why this verse, rather than proving works-righteousness-Arminianism, actually proves the opposite.…

Title: Overcome!
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/26/2012
Bible: Revelation 22; John 16:3
Length: 37 min. (64kbps)

Overview: -We must be well-grounded in plain truths and duties, and those must first be well-digested, before we dive into those things that are dark and difficult -- many run themselves into confusion by beginning their Bible at the wrong end.- - Matthew Henry----This is an overview of the book of Revelation and a guide to its interpretation. The approach is likely not one you have heard before.----What you think the book of Revelation teaches and when you think it was written determines how you live your life - are we to conquer the world for Christ or tread water until He rescues us on the last day- - and what you think the headlines mean. Do events in the Middle East prove we are on the brink of the end times- Is Antichrist about to be revealed- Is Armageddon around the corner-----This generation of Christians has been taught Futurism- that most of Revelation describes end-time events.----Futurism is a late 16th century Roman Catholic invention that was crafted to defend the Papacy against the claims of the Protestant Reformation. Sadly, most fundamentalists and evangelicals are unknowingly parroting Roman Catholic propaganda.----The historic Protestant view is that Revelation is a panorama of world history from the first century to the end of time. It reveals the rise and fall of nations, of Romanism, Islam, the Protestant Reformation, a future New World Order of one civil government and religion imposed upon the world. But it also reveals the final triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Christianization of all nations BEFORE the end of history.----Please listen to all the sermons in this series to understand the historic Protestant view of the book of Revelation.…

Length: 35 min. (64kbps)

Overview: For the second time the Apostle John is recorded as having fallen down to worship at the feet of an angel and is rebuked by the angel -Rev. 22-8- 19-10-.----How could John commit such a grievous sin- What IS John's problem-----John's problem is one every human being has. -Nothing is more carefully guarded in the Bible than the purity and simplicity of worship- nothing is more sternly rebuked than idolatry- nothing is more contrary to the divine law than rendering in any way that homage to a creature which belongs of right to the Creator. It was necessary to guard even John, the beloved disciple, on that subject- how much more needful, therefore, is it to guard the church at large -- and, I would add, your own heart -- from the dangers to which it is liable.- -- Albert Barnes.…

Overview: How wonderful and noble are these words which come from the lips of the dying Savior as he hangs on the cross of Calvary- What comfort and hope this blessed promise of salvation must have been for that miserable wretch, the thief who professes faith in Jesus Christ, as he is also dying, hanging on his own cross next to the King and Lord of glory. As Calvin puts it, this penitent thief comes to adore Jesus as King on the gallows tree.----Listen to how this sweet promise of sure, swift, and satisfying salvation is given by Jesus to this wretched dying thief in the midst of so much wickedness, malice, darkness, mockery, devilishness, and dreadful judgement in the scene of crucifixion which is so vividly expressed to us in the gospel record.…

BLOG: Home Depot Continues To Promote Homosexuality; What You Can Do

2012-06-18

For several years, The Home Depot has given its financial and corporate support to open displays of homosexual activism on main streets in America's towns.

The Home Depot has chosen to sponsor and participate in numerous gay pride parades and festivals. Most grievous is The Home Depot's deliberately exposing small children to lascivious displays of sexual conduct by homosexuals and cross-dressers, which are a common occurrence at these events.

* In June 2010, The Home Depot set up a "Kids Workshop" as a vendor at the several homosexual festivals and parades.

* In 2009, The Home Depot gave over $5,000 to be a major sponsor of the Nashville Gay Pride Festival. It also sponsored parades in Atlanta, Kansas City, Portland and San Diego. Read more.

* The Home Depot offers insurance benefits that cover sex-changes operations for employees. That insurance also extends to same-sex partners of homosexual employees, proving The Home Depot considers gay couples as "married." Source: Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index

* In 2008, The Home Depot sponsored the Durham Pride Weekend with a kid's workshop and parade march. The events include "massages for couples" and "Drag Shows."

Overview: Thyatira had no special significance, religious or political. Yet the Lord devotes more words to it in his letter than He does to any of the other seven churches.----Thyatira was a closed shop union town, and one's ability to make a living required union membership. The problem for Christians was that the unions were dedicated to idols and required idol worship, eating meat sacrificed to idols and orgies.---- Jezebel taught Christians that there was a way they could outwardly participate in all that as long as they inwardly stayed faithful to the Lord -- just as some today say you can participate in the idolatrous worship of Roman, Orthodox and many Protestant churches as long as you reject that inwardly.----Hear what the Lord thinks of that teaching.----This is an update and expansion of the sermon preached several years ago on this passage. BLOG: "Your position on worship in the church is hypocritical."

2011-10-13

This e-mail is from someone who listened to the sermon "Seeker-Sensitive Worship vs. Scripture" at http://www.sermonaudio.com/sermoninfo.asp?SID=32112032447

From Name: Tony Cornelius
From Email: t********@hotmail.com

Your position on worship in the church is hypocritical.

On your web site you quote Spurgeon who used hymns extensively that were written by “men” and are not inspired in that they were not part of scripture.

You also used scripture out of context. I John states that if you love me, keep my commandments. The context continues to identify the commandments which are love for our brother and believing in Christ. Believers are to speak to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Certainly these need to doctrinally sound.

The OT believers used many instruments in worship.

Our worship should not be worldly or sensual as much is today. The scriptures you used where God condemned those whose worship was incorrect was because their worship was going against what He had commanded them. God stated that they should not worship in that way but they did.

Please don’t trivialize the Word of God by stretching it to defend your pet peeves. Your implications are that anyone who does not hold your view, which Spurgeon did not, is not a true believer. In doing that, you are treading on dangerous ground.

I was hoping to learn more of the doctrinal position of the reformed church in this sermon but instead I was sorely disappointed.

Note the verses below do not restrict worship in the Psalms only.
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

You just know that your life will be incomplete until you get it. As C. S. Lewis wrote in various books, -We are born helpless. As soon as we are fully conscious we discover loneliness.e----Transposition and Other Addresses-------If you are really a product of a materialistic universe, how is it that you don't feel at home there------Encounter with Light-------If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.-----Mere Christianity-------All that we call human history--money, poverty, ambition, war, prostitution, classes, empires, slavery---is- the long terrible story of man trying to find something other than God which will make him happy.----ibid-----We have been given a new nature, a holy nature, and it is impossible for one who has the new nature to be satisfied with the things of the world. We live here as strangers in a strange land far from our Father's house. If you don't know the OT you will never receive the blessings that God intends for you from either the OT or the NT. BLOG: 2 NEW VIDEOS with Richard Bennett

2011-06-12

Former Roman priest Richard Bennett (www.BereanBeacon.org) and Pastor Mencarow have made TWO new videos: "The Original Early Church" and "Reformation To Modern Times."

THE ORIGINAL EARLY CHURCH

The topic of who the early believers were, where they lived, and just what they taught is very important. We have great examples as the Vaudois (Waldenses) to the pre-Reformation believers. In this video Pastor W. J. Mencarow and Richard Bennett clearly document the actual historical facts.

It is imperative to analyze the details of the historical records. This is professionally done in the video with graphics, maps and paintings that illustrate these facts and make them easily understood. Believers are urged to research and see for themselves that what is shown is indeed the authentic early church. Kindly make it known to others by forwarding its URL others. Thank you.

REFORMATION TO MODERN TIMES
History is of supreme importance as it is the storehouse of lessons comprehended from the past. In this DVD Pastor W. J. Mencarow along with Richard Bennett clearly documents the actual historical facts of following the Reformation. Since the Papacy has not only attempted to reverse the influence of the Reformation, but also to rewrite history, it is imperative to know the established facts of history. This is professionally accomplished in this DVD. Photographs, paintings, and maps illustrate historical facts, making them more easily understood. Kindly make the DVD known to others by forwarding its URL. Thank you

The Supremacy of Love

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Supremacy of Love
Speaker: Keith Dewell
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/15/2011
Bible: 1 Corinthians 13:13
Length: 34 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Our text teaches us that charity, or love, is greater than faith and hope. And if this does not persuade you of the supremacy of love, look at the opening verses of this famous passage of I Corinthians 13 where this teaching is further expounded. Have you ever been transformed into a noise maker when talking to others- Does all your wisdom and understanding do nothing to prevent you from being good for nothing- Does your warfare against poverty not make a bit of difference- The answer to all of these questions is ... Yes- ... if you do not have love.…

Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/1/2011
Bible: Song of Solomon 5:16
Length: 55 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Loveliness - Beauty. How do we understand the altogether loveliness of the Bridegroom of the Song of Solomon- Leaning heavily upon the words of classic Protestant commentaries for this book, such as those written by Durham, Ainsworth, and Burrowes, we are determined to forsake any novel approach in our interpretation. Listen to the believer's longing for Christ who is adorned with the fullness of all of His sweet graces. Understand how Christ is all beautiful and how that all our desires are met in Him. Listen to how the Bride, herself, zealously opens up a 12-point argument to persuade the Daughters of Jerusalem that her beloved is more than any other beloved-…

Overview: Can a doctrine be found in the account of the Noahic Flood where we read of the rising floodwaters and the bearing up and lifting up of the Ark above the earth- Or do the words of our text merely further the narrative of this biblical passage- Were the floodwaters an instrument in God's hand for death or life, for judgement or salvation- Were others saved in the Ark beyond Noah, his family, and the all the animals- What does the coming of the Messiah have to do with the Noachian Flood- Does this Great Deluge contain a divine paradox- Can we find the Gospel within such a paradox- Does God offer hope in the midst of this universal destruction- Come and listen and see.…

Overview: What is the fundamental belief of both Arminianism and paganism-----Will Christians be judged on the last day------the dead were judged...according to their works.- -Rev. 20-12-. But Eph. 2-8-9 says -For by grace are ye saved through faith- and that not of yourselves- it is the gift of God- Not of works...-----How can we reconcile those two verses-----When someone unsaved dies, do they go immediately to hell-----Does a believer go immediately to heaven when they die-----We know that the Bible teaches that death is the penalty for sin- but why do Christians die, since Christ took the penalty for our sins upon Himself-…

Bible: Revelation 20 9-15; Revelation 19:20
Length: 37 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Who is the beast of Rev. 20-10-----Who is the false prophet-----What is the counterfeit trinity-----...The throne, of course, is Christ's throne, and it proclaims His sovereignty, His control over everything that comes to pass.----The sovereignty of God is the greatest of blessings to His children and the greatest of terrors to His enemies. That is why unbelievers have always attacked it. To deny His sovereignty is to deny God. It is simply unbelief.----The Lord rules men and nations. He rules the motions of the tiniest subatomic particles.----But many people say man, not God, is master of his -fate.- This is what Satan wants you to believe. He promised Eve that if she did what he wanted that she and all mankind eshall be as gods, knowing good and evile -Gen. 3-5-. That's determining right and wrong for ourselves- being master of our -fate.- But Scripture says this is a lie. -Isa. 45-----eThere are many details in the doctrine of predestination, and each should be given its due weight- but the basic, the final, the ultimate answer to all objections is the relative positions of Creator and creature. All objections presuppose that man is in some way or other independent of God and has obtained from somewhere or achieved by his own efforts some rights over--against him. Obviously such a view is totally destructive of Christianity.e -Dr. Gordon Clark, -Predestination--…

Maybe He did in Old Testament times, but we are living under grace now, not law.----They forget you can be sincere and still be wrong.----This sermon attempts to show how God's Word answers the question, -What is the proper way to worship God--…

Length: 31 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This sermon briefly examines the three forms of church government, addresses the question of why congregations should have officers and explains the Biblical requirements for elders and deacons.----eIt is in the local assembly or congregation of Godes people that the ordinances of Christes appointment for his church are regularly administered. The importance of the local congregation is therefore paramount and it is in the local congregation that the presbyterian principle must first be exemplifiede In the New Testament the presbuterion is simply the elders gathered together for the discharge of those functions of government devolving upon them and no prerogative of presbytery is denied them when acting in that capacity. The presbyterian principle begins at the level of the particular flock or congregation and if for good reasons, it does not extend further than one congregation, we are not to deem it unpresbyterian. To be concrete, to that local presbytery belongs all the functions that Christ has accorded to presbytery.e---- John Murray, -The Presbyterian Form of Church-Government-…

BLOG: Thought-Provoking Quotes On Worship, Pt. I

2010-11-14

"Is it possible to find a single instance in Scripture of accepted worship that was not
prescribed by God?"

(Dr. James Begg, "Anarchy In Worship," Lyon & Gemmell, Edinburgh, 1875, available at
http://www.swrb.com/catalog/b.htm

"The devil has seldom done a cleverer thing than hinting to the Church that part of their mission is to provide entertainment for the people, with a view to winning them...providing amusement for the people is nowhere spoken of in the Scriptures as a function of the Church...

"The need is biblical doctrine, so understood and felt that it sets men aflame." -- Charles Spurgeon

"When Christian men have got somewhat accustomed to defend one true position, the assault is directed to another, and perhaps from a new quarter...it may safely be affirmed that nothing can be more important than questions connected with the acceptable worship of God. The question of the king of Moab must ever be regarded with deep interest by true Christians, "Wherewithal (with what or how) shall I come before God, and bow myself before the Most High."...For two centuries (this question) has been held to be practically settled in the Presbyterian church. But it is now manifestly raised again from an unexpected quarter, and must be settled anew." (Ibid, p. 4), emphasis added

"The whole counsel of God, concerning all things necessary for his own glory, man's salvation, faith, and life, is either expressly set down in scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men. Nevertheless, we acknowledge the inward illumination of the Spirit of God to be necessary for the saving understanding of such things as are revealed in the word; and that there are some circumstances concerning the worship of God, and government of the Church, common to human actions and societies, which are to be ordered by the light of nature and Christian prudence, according to the general rules of the word, which are always to be observed." Westminster Confession of Faith I:VI, emphasis added

This has come to be known as the Regulative Principle of Worship (referred to as RPW in the following).

"That principle (RPW - WJM) was substantially this, that for all the constituents of worship, you require the positive sanction of divine authority, either in the shape of direct command, or good and necessary consequence, or approved example; and that you are not at liberty to introduce anything else in connection with the worship of God, unless it comes legitimately under the apostolic heading of 'decency and order.' ("Heart and Voice" [Belfast: Aitchison & Cleeland, late 19th century], p. 4. Available at http://www.swrb.ab.ca/catalog/g.htm )

"There is a strange fallacy which seems to mislead men in forming an estimate of the soundness and importance of this principle. Because this principle has been often brought out in connection with the discussion of matters which, viewed in themselves, are very unimportant, such as rites and ceremonies, vestments and organs, crossings, kneelings, bowings, and other such, some men seem to think that it partakes of the intrinsic littleness of these things, and that the men who defend and try to enforce it, find their most congenial occupation in fighting about these small matters, and exhibit great bigotry and narrow-mindedness in bringing the authority of God and the testimony of Scripture to bear upon such a number of paltry points. Many have been led to entertain such views as these of the English Puritans and of the Scottish Presbyterians, and very much upon the ground of their maintenance of this principle.

"Now, it should be quite sufficient to prevent or neutralize this impression to show, as we think can be done,

"1st, That the principle is taught with sufficient plainness in Scripture, and that, therefore, it ought to be professed and applied to the regulation of ecclesiastical affairs.

"2d, That, viewed in itself, it is large, liberal, and comprehensive, such as seems in no way unbecoming its Divine author, and in no way unsuitable to the dignity of the church as a divine institution, giving to God His rightful place of supremacy, and to the church, as the body of Christ, its rightful position of elevated simplicity and purity.

"3d, That, when contemplated in connection with the ends of the church, it is in full accordance with everything suggested by an enlightened and searching survey of the tendencies of human nature, and the testimony of all past experience.

"And with respect to the connection above referred to, on which the impression we are combatting is chiefly based, it is surely plain that, in so far as it exists de facto, this is owing, not to anything in the tendencies of the principle itself or of its supporters, but to the conduct of the men who, in defiance of this principle, would obtrude human inventions into the government and worship of the church, or who insist upon retaining them permanently after they have once got admittance.

"The principle suggests no rites or ceremonies, no schemes or arrangements; it is purely negative and prohibitionary. Its supporters never devise innovations and press them upon the church. The principle itself precludes this. It is the deniers of this principle, and they alone, who invent and obtrude innovations; and they are responsible for all the mischiefs that ensue from the discussions and contentions to which these things have given rise." (William Cunningham, "The Reformers and the Theology of the Reformation", (Edinburgh, Scotland: Banner of Truth, [1862] 1989), p. 35, 36, emphasis added. Available at http://www.swrb.com/catalog/c.htm )

"The reading of the Scriptures with godly fear, the sound preaching, and conscionable hearing of the Word, in obedience unto God, with understanding, faith and reverence, singing of psalms with grace in the heart; as also, the due administration and worthy receiving of the sacraments instituted by Christ, are all parts of the ordinary religious worship of God:beside religious oaths, vows, solemn fastings, and thanksgivings upon special occasions, which are, in their several times and seasons, to be used in an holy and religious manner." (Westminster Confession of Faith XXI:V)

"Anything else or different from this (the itemization of the elements of the worship service found in WCF XXI:V above - WJM), and especially anything borrowed from heathenism or the abolished temple-services - as pretended priests, altars, altar-cloths, incense, symbolical vestments, or instrumental music - are entirely without divine warrant, and therefore unlawful. The same thing may be said of all man-pleasing, sensationalism, solo-singing, with any of the peculiarities of the theatre transferred without divine warrant into the worship of the Christian Church." (Begg, op. cit.)

BLOG: Catholic Agenda Embedded in the Manhattan Declaration

2010-11-01

By Richard Bennett (former Roman Catholic priest)
www.bereanbeacon.org

On November 20th, 2009, more than 150 people portraying themselves as Christian leaders of
Orthodox, Catholic, and Evangelical backgrounds declared their unity because of moral issues.
The signers who are uniting themselves together in the Mahattan Declaration (MD) identify
themselves under the signed statement,1 "We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians
who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common
good...."

The Website of MD states that the purpose of the document is "simply to speak with
one voice on the most pressing moral issues of our day...[MD is] simply a statement of solidarity
about only the social issues it addresses." 2 And the document itself may not appear to have any
objective other than quoted.

However, under the Website section entitled, "Message to all signers of the Manhattan Declaration," the clearly stated purpose is a call for a political movement. This shows that, in fact, the Manhattan Declaration is only the latest step in the downgrade into implementing Catholic social doctrine.

There is yet another purpose; one primarily stated in Vatican Council II and post-Vatican Council II documents. Through the use of social issues, the Roman Catholic Church seeks to draw true Evangelical Bible-believers into itself so that there can be no opposition by them on the fundamental issues of the authority of the Bible alone and the Gospel.

In order to soften up the Evangelicals in their separation from the Catholics on biblical
doctrinal issues, particularly the authority of the Bible alone and the Gospel, the Catholic modus
operandi calls for using social issues on which both Evangelicals and Catholics agree as
preliminary common ground. The major social issues selected by MD are acceptable, but what
gives away the underlying Catholic far left political agenda is some of the vocabulary used. This
vocabulary has a general meaning, to be sure, but in the context of Roman Catholic social
doctrine, it means something quite specific.

As Evangelicals are drawn together with Catholics on social issues - like the social issues mentioned in this document - the ensuing ecumenical dialogue "serves to transform modes of thought and behavior and the daily life of their [Evangelical] communities [churches]. In this way, it [ecumenical dialogue] aims at preparing the way for their unity of faith in the bosom of a Church one and visible: thus ‘little by little'...all Christians will be gathered" 3 into the Roman Catholic Church with its dual authority base, false gospel, and accompanying far left agenda. The Roman Catholic Church's primary goal is to make enforceable its claim that it is the only true church of Jesus Christ and its pope, the claimed "Vicar of Christ," has the right to judge everybody, as he did during the Middle Ages. In order to accomplish this, the Papacy must do away with the supreme authority of theBible and the Gospel and it must silence all who stand against it in this endeavor. This is the
Roman Catholic context in which the Manhattan Declaration is set.

The Mark Of The Beast Pt II

2010-09-29 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 1m 2s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Mark Of The Beast Pt II
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 8/1/2010
Bible: Revelation 20:4
Length: 62 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This sermon series presents the historic Protestant -that is, Biblical- interpretation of the Book of Revelation, rarely preached today.----If we were living at almost any other time than now, esp. from the Protestant Reformation in the 1500s almost all the way through the 1800s, there would be little confusion about what the mark of the beast means. When you read the commentaries of the 19th, 18th, 17th, 16th centuries and some even earlier, written before the Reformation, they are almost unanimous in their interpretation. It is only in relatively recent years that we have been bombarded with a flurry of fanciful, not to say crackpot, ideas of what the mark means. Today every claim contradicts every other claim. It's almost as though Satan is trying to make Christians look like babbling idiots. You don't suppose he would do something like that, do you-----Also see The Mark of the Beast, Pt. I in this sermon series.…

Bible: Galatians 2:20; 2 Corinthians 6:16
Length: 45 min. (64kbps)

Overview: This sermon has two parts. The first is directed to unbelievers, including those who think they are Christians. The second part is directed to those who trust in Christ as Lord and Saviour.----How are you saved- Most people, even those who think of themselves as Christians, think that God essentially has a big balance scale, and when you die He piles up all the good things you've done on one side, all the bad on the other, and if it tips the right way you get into heaven. But that's not found in the Bible.----Self-salvation comes naturally to us- thus it is the essence of all false religions.----But if you DO know the Gospel and believe in justification by faith alone, do you know the essence of the Christian life- It's not so much a believer's living for Christ as it is Christ living IN the believer.…

Bible: Revelation 20:2; James 4:7
Length: 57 min. (64kbps)

Overview: In our culture a person's name tells us nothing about his character, but in Biblical times it often did. For example, when the Lord changed Abram's name to Abraham, He changed the meaning to -father of many.- When he changed his wife's Sarai's name to Sarah, He changed the meaning to -princess.- BTW, Sarai means -argumentative,- so you can imagine how happy Abraham was to hear of the change-----Why is the Evil One called four names in the one verse of Rev. 20-2- Each name describes his character. You will better understand Scripture when you know what his names mean. And you will be better able to submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.…

Overview: The Sabbath is a creation ordinance. Some some say observance of it has been fulfilled in Christ and is no longer binding on Christians. Is that true-----What is often overlooked in the Fourth Commandment is the commandment to work. Work is not part of the curse -- the command to work was given to Adam before the Fall. Idleness is sin- standing water breeds all sorts of diseases. ----Not working is robbing God -Mal. 3-8-. How will you bring your tithes and offerings if you do not work-----All the work you do, the work done by all of God's people throughout the ages, is being coordinated by Him in one grand purpose- to bring all things under the Lordship of Christ -I Cor. 15-24-28-.…

Speaker: James Evans
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Special Meeting
Date: 4/11/2010
Bible: Genesis 6; Genesis 7-9
Length: 51 min. (64kbps)

Overview: The main modern sciences that show evidence of the Biblical flood are Geology, Archaeology, and Cryptozoology.----FLOOD PREDICTIONSOIf the Flood caused the sedimentary rock strata, with their billions of fossils, then the following 13 points would be expected -- and, upon examination of the fossils in the strata O they all prove true...----...HOW DO FOSSILS TESTIFY TO THE FLOOD- A great Flood -- the one described in the Bible in Genesis 6 to 9 --rapidly covered the earth with water. When it did, sediments of pebbles, gravel, clay, and sand were laid down in successive strata, covering animal and plant life. Under great pressure, these sediments turned into what we today call -sedimentary rock.- All that mass of water-laid material successively covered millions of living creatures. The result is fossils, which today are only found in the sedimentary rock strata.----When the Flood overwhelmed the world, the first to be covered were slow-moving animals, the next to be covered were somewhat larger, somewhat faster-moving animals, and so it went. Today we can dig into these rock strata and find that the lowest stratum tends to have the slowest-moving creatures- above them are faster ones. Evolutionist scientists declare these lowest strata are many millions of years old -570 million for the oldest, the Cambrian-, and the topmost to be the most recent -the Pliocene at 10 million, and the Pleistocene at 2 million years-.----But, in actuality, we will discover that the evidence indicates that all the sedimentary strata with their hoards of fossils were laid down within a very short time.…

Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 4/4/2010
Bible: Exodus 20:16
Length: 41 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Is it lying to bluff in poker or fake a pass in football- Is it lying to tell a joke about something that could never really happen- Is it lying to say things that you know aren't really true, like, -I've never laughed so hard in my life,' or -I'd never be caught dead wearing that-- Is what an actor does lying-----...Christians are divided on what the ninth commandment teaches. Some say it means that we are always to speak the absolute truth as we know it, no exceptions whatever.----...Other Christians say the ninth commandment means we are never to lie, but there are a few exceptions, such as acting, playing games or sports, using rhetorical exaggerations, or telling jokes.----...Note that Rahab did much more than just conceal the truth. She outright lied. She knew exactly where the Israelite spies were. And remember, too, she did more than lie. She was a traitor -- she defied the king by helping the spies escape. The king's word was law, and she broke it. The penalty for that was death.----...A lot of Christians argue back and forth about Rahab. But the two spies were also liars. A spy by definition has to deceive.----...But doesn't Scripture also say that lying is a sin, hateful to God- Indeed it does. So how are we to Biblically reconcile this-----This sermon is an update of one preached in 2006 in the series -10 Commandments.-…

Overview: Adam was a type, a picture, of Christ in several aspects. For one, his spouse was formed when the Lord opened up his side.-----Jn. 7-38-39- -He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spake he of the Spirit...- The Holy Spirit is symbolized by water, as Christ tells us plainly here.-----John 19-34- -But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.------We know what Christ's blood represents- I Jn. 1-7b- -the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.- And we have just read Christ telling us plainly what water represents- the Holy Spirit. Physical water washes away physical filth- the spiritual water, the Holy Spirit, washes away spiritual filth I Cor. 6-11- -ye are washed, ye are sanctified, ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.------Adam's deep sleep, wherein his spouse was formed from out of his opened side, is an emblem of Christ's deep sleep of death, wherein his spouse was formed from out of His opened side. SERMON: Will Satan Conquer Before The Lord Returns? Why Pessimillennialism Is Unbiblical

Title: Will Satan Conquer Before The Lord Returns? Why Pessimillennialism Is Unbiblical
Subtitle: Book of Revelation

Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/29/2009
Bible: Revelation 19; Genesis 1:26-28
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: Unlike many Christians today, when our predecessors prayed "Thy kingdom come ON EARTH as it is in heaven," they actually meant it. Most Christians do not believe that the nations and the majority of the world will come to Christ before the last day. They have been taught by pastors and authors and songwriters and filmmakers that the world is destined to get worse and worse, that Christ will have fewer and fewer followers, and that these are all signs that the end is near. (Isn't it interesting that they hotly preach free will and deny the sovereignty of God and foreordination, yet firmly believe in the foreordination of Satan's victory on earth?) They say to believe otherwise is wishful thinking. Shouldn't it be every Christian's wish that all people would come to Christ? That all the nations would acknowledge and obey Him in their law-making? That peace would reign on the earth? This is more than wishful thinking. It is Biblical thinking. The pessimillenialism that engulfs the church today causes Christians to retreat from the world, in blatant disobedience to the Lord's command to exercise dominion. This retreat from engaging the world has created a culture vacuum that has been quickly filled by Christ's enemies: secular humanism, apostate churches, cults and New Age paganism. This sermon presents some of the Biblical evidence for *optimillennialism.* "Satan cannot win. Why not? Because he has denied God's sovereignty and disobeyed God's law. But Moses was told explicitly, God's blessings come only from obedience. Satan will not win because he has abandoned God's tool of dominion, biblical law." -- Dr. Gary North…

SERMON: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

2009-12-09 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 36s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 11/22/2009
Bible: Revelation 19; Revelation 4
Length: 36 min. (64kbps)

Overview: What you think the book of Revelation teaches determines how you live your life as a Christian (are we to conquer the world for Christ or tread water until He throws us a lifering on the last day?) and what you think today's headlines mean or don't mean. Do events in the Middle East prove we are on the brink of the end times? Is Antichrist about to be revealed? Is Armageddon right around the corner? The theory of most Christians today is Futurism -- that most of Revelation describes events that take place near and at the end of time. The 'Left Behind' books and movie(s) are only the latest example. Futurism is a late 16th century Roman Catholic invention that was crafted to defend it and the Papacy against the claims of the Protestant Reformation. Sadly, most fundamentalists and evangelicals are unknowingly repeating Roman Catholic propaganda. The historic Protestant view is that the book of Revelation is a panorama of world history from the first century to the end of time. It reveals the rise and fall of religions and nations, of Roman Catholicism, of Mohammad and Islam, of a future New World Order of one government and one religion imposed upon all the world. But it also reveals the final triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ before the end and the Christianization of all nations.…

Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/22/2004
Bible: Galatians 2:18-20
Length: 40 min. (64kbps)

Overview: A source of great confusion in the church today is the meaning of New Testament passages that contain the words "law" and/or "grace," such as: "Through the law I died to the law." (Gal. 2:19). What does Paul mean? Does he mean that a Christian does not have to obey God's law? Let's explore what Scripture has to say and perhaps we will better understand the meaning and apply it to our lives, so we may be truly dead to the law and alive to Christ. This sermon is part of the series on Galatians.…

Title: Meditations On The Lord's Supper, Part III
Subtitle: The Lord's Supper
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 10/25/2009
Bible: 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; John 17
Length: 33 min. (32kbps)

Overview: The Lord's Supper is a simple ordinance. Men have tried to complicate it with ritualism, shrouding it in mystery, making it so obscure that the average Christian hopes no one will ask him what it really signifies. Ritualism and mysticism have spiritualized away into a fog the meaning of the gift our Lord has given to His Body, the Church. The communion of symbolically receiving him into your body, just as you received Him into your soul, is fellowship of the highest order. Such fellowship is eternal. No power upon earth, no devil of hell, can take from you the piece of bread which you eat in the Lord's Supper; it is ingested and becomes tissue and blood and bone. It becomes an inseparable part of you, as does the wine which courses through your bloodstream throughout every fiber of your body. It is all a picture of your eternal security with Christ. The bread and wine symbolize what is in our hearts, a union of Christ with us, so we know exactly what the Apostle Paul meant when he wrote in Gal. 2:20, "I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me." Just as no power on earth or in hell can separate your body from that bread and wine, receiving them is an outward act illustrating an inward truth: neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:38-39).…

Title: Is Calvinism Too Strict? Do Calvinists Make The Way To Heaven Too Narrow?
Subtitle: What Is The Reformed Faith?
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 7/12/2009
Bible: Matthew 7:13-14; John 14:6
Length: 46 min. (32kbps)

Overview: Unbelievers are fond of quoting verses from the Bible that they can twist out of context to their own purposes. For example, when they try to defend their sinful ways, they say “The Bible says “Judge not lest ye be judged” and “let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” But you don't hear them saying, “The Bible says that Jesus is the only way to have eternal life,” or “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” No, those verses can't be twisted — they are plain, and unbelievers hate them. Of all the words Jesus spoke, these are among those most hated by the world. If you are a follower of His, and proclaim the truth that Jesus alone is Lord, they will hate you, too. Your faith, they say, is too narrow. You are so confining, restrictive, and bigoted. "Jesus Christ says He is the only way to heaven? We do not like that. If He says He is A way, we might believe Him." Ian Murray, in his book "Evangelicalism Divided," notes that this objection — "that our doctrine is too strict, we make the way of heaven too narrow — is in truth the original objection (as it was almost the only one for sometime) and is secretly at the bottom of a thousand more, which appear in various forms."…

Length: 39 min. (32kbps)

Overview: Most interpretations of Revelation today are either from the Futurist (it's mostly about the future, the end times) or the Preterist (it's mostly about the past, the Roman Empire) approach. Not only are they unsupported by Scripture, both approaches were invented by Roman Catholic writers in the 16th century to to counter the Reformers' unanimous verdict that Scripture identifies the Antichrist as the Papacy (if Revelation is all about the end times, Antichrist can't be the Papacy; if it is all about the Roman Empire, ditto). This series takes neither approach -- it takes the historic approach to Revelation that the Reformers took, that most of the Protestant church has always taken until recent years: That the book of Revelation is a panorama of world history from the first century through our own times through the last day. It is an understanding of Revelation that is rarely preached today, yet it is the approach that the Reformers and the Protestant church has always maintained.…

Overview: "We must be well-grounded in plain truths and duties, and those must first be well-digested, before we dive into those things that are dark and difficult -- many run themselves into confusion by beginning their Bible at the wrong end." - Matthew Henry This is an overview of the book of Revelation and a guide to its interpretation. Bible: Revelation 17; 2 Thessalonians 2:7-8
Length: 47 min. (32kbps)

Overview: The question for us living in the 21st Century is, are the 10 kings (nations) of Rev. 17 past or future? Have they come into existence yet, sometime between the 1st Century and the 21st, or are they still future? If they are still future, that explains a lot of what is happening in the US and the world right now. "It would seem that humans need a common motivation, namely a common adversary, to organize and act together in the vacuum; such a motivation must be found to bring the divided nations together to face an outside enemy, either a real one or else one invented for the purpose... (read that last part again!) "The common enemy of humanity is man...Democracy is no longer well suited for the tasks ahead...In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine etc., would fit the bill." -- from "The First Global Revolution" published by the Club of Rome. Title: The Whore Of Babylon Pt II - The Mystery Of The Whore & The Beast Revealed
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/17/2009
Bible: Revelation 17
Length: 36 min. (32kbps)

Overview: Remember, John was as mystified as we are when we first read about the vision he was given. Unlike most of the other symbolism in the book of Revelation, no longer do we have to ask, “what does this mean?” for the Holy Spirit has told us plainly. We have no excuse if we fail to understand this: the excuse you so often hear, “I don't read the book of Revelation because it is so difficult to understand” won't wash. The very fact that the Lord has chosen to tell John plainly the correct interpretation is striking — it can only mean one thing, and that is that it is of such critical importance that the Lord wants to make absolutely sure we as His church know exactly what it means. In addition, this is the key that unlocks the chapters we have already studied. ...The beast was, and is not, and yet is. It was the central headquarters of idolatry and persecution of God's elect. It is the ancient Babylonian Mystery Religion. It was not in existence in John's time in the form it is in today. The names of the gods have been changed, but they still represent the same demonic religion, so it is in existence in another form. It ascends out of the bottomless pit, which is the dominion of Satan and his demons, and it will go into perdition, that is, eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels, Mt. 25:41. Those who are not God's people, who are enemies of Christ whether they know it or not -- that is, either hostile to Christ or clueless -- will admire the beast and serve it. But this is not said of God's people. They will be given discernment and will not serve the beast.…

SERMON: Marks Of A Christian, Part IV

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: Marks Of A Christian, Part IV
Subtitle: Marks Of A Christian
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/3/2009
Bible: Deuteronomy 7:11; Galatians 2:20
Length: 32 min. (32kbps)

Overview: If someone asked you, “how do I get into heaven?” what would you tell them? Most people have been taught that you get to heaven by obeying God. The Bible has rules and if you follow them the best you can, you get the prize, heaven. If you ignore the rules and do whatever you feel like, you'll have more fun now, but you will go to hell. Force yourself to lead a boring life now, and your reward is heaven. Cut loose and have a good time now, and you go to hell. That's the Gospel according to the world, and people can even go to church all their lives and be told that's what the Bible teaches. To the world, the ultimate expression of the Christian life is basically being Amish. The natural religion of fallen man is salvation by his own merits, self-salvation. "Every one of us is born a heretic upon this point), and we naturally gravitate towards this heresy in one form or another." (Spurgeon). It is pride, pure and simple. That's why, tho many call themselves Christians, true Christianity, the faith of the Bible, is unpopular. Man is too prideful, he cannot endure the thought that he is desperately wicked by nature, Jer. 17:9. He cannot stand the idea that there is nothing he can do to please God, Ps. 14:1, 14:3, 53:1, 53:3, Rom. 3:12. He abhors the idea that he needs a savior, a sinless substitute that the Lord punished instead of him. Man is born wanting to be in charge of his own life. He will not voluntarily get down off the throne of his life and allow Christ to sit there.…

Event: Sunday Service

Bible: Deuteronomy 7:11; Galatians 2:20
Length: 43 min. (32kbps)

Overview: The true Christian life is not so much a believer's living for Christ as Christ living in the believer. ...Christians don't obey the Lord because if they don't they'll go to hell. They know that nothing they can do other than denying Christ will send them to hell. They do what the Lord wants because they want it, too. Thus, to quote Martin Luther, they love Him and do what they please, and what pleases them the most is to do the will of their Father in heaven. ...The lie that you have to obey God in order to earn your salvation is specifically condemned in the Bible. ...You see, the world has it backwards. Christians don't start with doing what God wants. That's the result of faith, not it's cause. Good works come after faith, not before. “As the apple is not the cause of the apple tree, but a fruit of it: even so good works are not the cause of our salvation, but a sign and a fruit of the same.” (Daniel Cawdray)…

Overview: What difference does your being a child of the Lord make in your life? Have you ever really thought deeply about that question? You’d be surprised (at least, I am) at the number of Christians who have to admit that no, they’ve never really focused on what difference their faith makes in their day-to-day living. Here is another question to ponder: Can you think of one thing you said or did yesterday that showed someone that you are a child of God in Christ? That you have something that changes men’s hearts and changes the way they live? There’s a question that has been repeated so often it’s become a cliche, but it’s so thought-provoking that even if you’ve heard it a hundred times it still should make you reflect: If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? In what ways has your walk with the Lord changed you? A lot? A little? Or has it changed you at all? If you think it has changed you, why do you think so? How do you know? Can others see the changes? We’ll call these differences some of the marks of a Christian. This morning we’ll start to examine some of these marks.…

Overview: "We must be well-grounded in plain truths and duties, and those must first be well-digested, before we dive into those things that are dark and difficult -- many run themselves into confusion by beginning their Bible at the wrong end." - Matthew Henry What you think the book of Revelation teaches and when you think it was written determines how you live your life - are we to conquer the world for Christ or tread water until He rescues us on the last day? - and what you think the headlines mean. Do events in the Middle East prove we are on the brink of the end times? Is Antichrist about to be revealed? Is Armageddon around the corner? This generation of Christians has been taught Futurism; that most of Revelation describes end-time events. Futurism is a late 16th century Roman Catholic invention that was crafted to defend the Papacy against the claims of the Protestant Reformation. Sadly, most fundamentalists and evangelicals are unknowingly parroting Roman Catholic propaganda. The historic Protestant view is that Revelation is a panorama of world history from the first century to the end of time. It reveals the rise and fall of nations, of Romanism, Islam, the Protestant Reformation, a future New World Order of one civil government and religion imposed upon the world. But it also reveals the final triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Christianization of all nations BEFORE the end of history. Please listen to all the sermons in this series to understand the historic Protestant view of the book of Revelation. For more resources, see www.swrb.com…

2009-03-27 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 33s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: What The Lord Says Love Really Is
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 3/22/2009
Bible: 1 John 1:9; 1 John 2:3
Length: 33 min. (32kbps)

Overview: "We are sometimes taught that that truth (or doctrine) and love are, if not enemies, certainly strangers...The major themes of 1 John are truth and love and how they fit together. The Holy Spirit speaking through John defines love and truth and shows His people how they are inseparable - one cannot exist without the other... "To whom are we to confess our sins? Only to God in prayer? To others privately? To our pastor or priest? Publicly in church or prayer meetings?... "God looks not at the elegancy of your prayers, to see how neat they are; nor yet at the geometry of your prayers, to see how long they are; nor yet at the arithmetic of your prayers, to see how many they are; nor yet at the music of your prayers, nor yet at the sweetness of your voice, nor yet at the logic of your prayers; but at the sincerity of your prayers..." - Thomas Brooks (Puritan), "Thoughts On Prayer"…

SERMON: The Battle Of Armageddon

2009-02-21 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 36s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Battle Of Armageddon
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/15/2009
Bible: Revelation 16:16; 1 Thessalonians 5:2-4
Length: 36 min. (32kbps)

Overview: Is Armageddon a literal battle fought in the Middle East with nuclear weapons and who-knows-what other kinds of horrible futuristic WMDs? Most interpretations of Revelation today are either from the Futurist (it's mostly about the future, the end times) or the Preterist (it's mostly about the past, the Roman Empire) approach. This series takes neither approach -- it takes the historic approach to Revelation that the Reformers took, that the Protestant church has always taken until recent years: That the book of Revelation is a panorama of world history from the first century through our own times to the last day. It is an understanding of Revelation that is rarely preached today, yet it is the approach that the Reformers and the Protestant church has, until recent times, maintained.…

SERMON: The Living Dead Walk Among Us: Phariseeism In The 21st Century Church

2009-02-17 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 35s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Living Dead Walk Among Us: Phariseeism In The 21st Century Church
Subtitle: What Is The Reformed Faith?
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/8/2009
Bible: Galatians 2:15-16; Romans 3:20
Length: 35 min. (32kbps)

Overview: "Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction." -- Blaise Pascal Many churches teach that you have to live by a list of rules ("do this and this and this; don't do that and that and that") in order to be saved or at least to keep your salvation. As though the Lord has a balance scale and he puts all your sins on one side, all your good deeds on the other, and if it balances toward the good deeds He lets you into heaven. That's modern-day Phariseeism (legalism), which Paul calls a false gospel which is no gospel at all (Gal. 1); it's works-righteousness, Arminianism, and it is the theology of death. Legalism is "practicing religion," and there's an infinitely wide difference between practicing religion and salvation. The difference is literally life and death -- yours. “Sin needs quenching in the Savior's blood, not concealing under the garb of religion.” -- Spurgeon…

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: The Signs Of Christ's Coming In The Old Testament
Subtitle: Book of Revelation
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 2/1/2009
Bible: Revelation 16:15; Revelation 3:3
Length: 44 min. (32kbps)

Overview: In Rev. 16:15 and the verses that follow, the Lord is telling us what to expect for the future of the church and the world, preparing us, just as he prepared believers in Old Testament times, speaking to them through the Scriptures telling them what to expect for the future of the church and the world, the coming of the Promised Savior Jesus Christ. Many of them understood — even Job, who lived centuries before the birth of Christ, could say, Job 19:5: “I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold.” If Job, who did not have the Gospel, understood what the Lord told him in His Word, if he embraced the Savior and knew from God's Word what the future held, what excuse do we have? We are not to spiritually sleep as unbelievers do, even those unbelievers who read the words of Scripture, for they they cannot understand them, they are spiritually discerned: I Cor. 2:14, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Rather, we as born-again believers, saved by the blood of Christ, are to read the signs of the times and prepare ourselves for what will follow.…

Overview: Roman Catholics are correct when they say their faith was founded by Peter in Rome. But it wasn't the Apostle Peter. "Men will readily rally around any one who can give the least appearance of plausibility to any doctrine that will teach them that they can be assured of happiness...though their hearts and natures are unchanged, and though they live without God in the world...” - Alexander Hislop, "The Two Babylons" What you think the book of Revelation teaches determines how you live your life - are we to conquer the world for Christ or tread water until He rescues us on the last day? - and what you think the headlines mean. SERMON: How To Have A Happy Marriage - 7th Commandment, Pt 1

2009-01-14 :: W. J. Mencarow
Length: 25s

A new MP3 sermon from Reformation Church is now available on SermonAudio.com with the following details:

Title: How To Have A Happy Marriage - 7th Commandment, Pt 1
Subtitle: Ten Commandments
Speaker: W. J. Mencarow
Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Sunday Service
Date: 5/31/2006
Bible: Exodus 20:14; Ecclesiastes 4
Length: 25 min. (32kbps)

Overview: Your marriage is under attack. Do you know how to defend it? Satan hates marriage because it is an ordinance of God, therefore it is one of his primary targets. He uses his slaves, the unbelieving world, to subvert marriage on numerous fronts. The Lord has particular commandments that husbands are to follow, and they do not include dominating their wives. He has particular commandments that wives are to follow, and they do not include dominating their husbands. But doesn't the Bible say the husband rules the family, and the wife submits to her husband? Some modern evangelical men have used these verses unbiblically to justify making their wives virtual slaves, copying not the Biblical family but that of paganism. Some wives, on the other hand, unbiblically dominate and rule their husbands. Both of these sinful behaviors are the result of the Fall. Feminism and "male chauvinism" can only produce sorrow for both men and women, because they violate God's law-order. This sermon is designed to help you understand these issues and many others, prayerfully offered so that you know how to have a happy marriage in the only way possible -- in Christ.…

SERMON: Don't Be Deceived By Signs & Wonders, Healing Revivals, False Miracles

Broadcaster: Reformation Church
Event: Current Events
Date: 12/7/2008
Bible: Revelation 16; Ephesians 6
Length: 34 min. (32kbps)

Overview: You've no doubt seen "miracle healers" on TV; perhaps you have even been to the meetings. Ask yourself this all-important question: Where's the gospel preaching? It's all about what God will do for you, and that's not the Gospel. It's all about signs and wonders, about people falling over backwards and jumping out of wheelchairs and dancing around to the whoops of the crowd -- followed by appeals for money. Funny, I don't recall Jesus ever asking for money, do you? And notice these "healers" never do anything you can see, like restore a missing limb or raise the dead. Is that asking too much? Well, how about making a fat person instantly thin? If someone could do that they'd be a multi-zillionaire. No, these so-called healing revivals are all about ailments you can't see. Are they making disciples of all nations, as the Lord Jesus commanded us to do? Again, where's the Gospel? Or is it glorifying man, specifically the alleged healer?…
