The Power of the Crowd- An Interview with Joseph Hogue, Founder of Crowd101.com

Crowdfunding has grown exponentially in the past several years. The new rules to Section III of the Jobs Act will change the game of investing and allow non-accredited investors to invest in the next big idea.

Today I am talking with Joseph Hogue, an investment analyst, passionate about the crowdfunding and peer lending revolution and what it means for Americans. He is the founder of Crowd101, a blog dedicated to crowdfunding. [...]

Servant or Self-Serving? by Angeline Lawrence

Servant or Self-Serving

by Angeline Lawrence

Today I want to pose a question to the women (and men) of faith that are in the trenches for Christ. Do you need a title and/or acknowledgement from others to fulfill the ministry God has placed in your life?  I must confess that for years I hesitated to work in my ministry because I believed I needed a for [...]

Bridging the Digital Divide in Detroit: Alicia Jones, CEO, Harmony Point CTC

by: Angeline Lawrence

The two faces of Detroit, MI displays a confusing image for those looking from the outside. On the one hand, Detroit is a hotbed for high tech and social entrepreneurs. The city is experiencing a major comeback with new leadership and major redevelopment projects. On the other hand, Detroit still lags behind in the number of African Americans in the technology industry. The neighborhoods lack the services and jobs needed to help African Americans in the city.

Alicia Jones, a cert [...]

Leadership under Pressure

Leadership under Pressure

By: Angeline Lawrence

Leadership always comes with a price. Many of us will face adversity as we seek to lead others in the right path. However, our position as leaders is a great opportunity for us to glorify God. We must remember to exude confidence and integrity when we are under pressure.

Listen in today as I discuss the steps to be a leader under pressure. God is our secret weapon and if we stand on his promises, then he will work on our behalf every time. Psalms 37:7 states, “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry o [...]

Change Your Mindset

By: Angeline Lawrence

Our mindset determines our success in walking with Christ.  If we allow a negative and self-willed mindset to determine our actions then we are in serious trouble.  Obtaining the mind of Christ is not a task, but a process. Check out the latest episode as I discuss the scripture in Philippians 4:7 which states, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Je [...]

Love Your Enemies

by: Angeline Lawrence, Host

Being on the receiving end of taunts and bullying can be detrimental to our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  As Christians, many of us were not built to give great comebacks when insulted.  Christ taught his disciples to love everyone, especially their enemies because he held them to a higher standard of righteousness.

My Sister’s Keeper by Angeline Lawrence

My Sister’s Keeper Angeline Lawrence, Host

Many of us have fallen short in some area of our life as Christians. Christ was adamant that we not judge others. Matthew 7:1 states, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” (NIV)     Rather, we should restore our sisters in the faith who have made mistakes, than ostracize them. Believers in the New Testament church were taught to help those th [...]

Rejecting Disruptive People
by: Angeline Lawrence, Host Walking with God can be a lonely path at times. I know God will never leave us, but having a brother/sister in the faith we can relate to is priceless.  Occasionally, we will connect to other believers that seem to be our friends, but in reality they are more like “Frenemies” who seek to gossip about us.

Today, I want to tal [...]

How to Overcome Fear by Angeline Lawrence

Overcoming Fear

Angeline Lawrence, Host

In past episodes, I discussed the love God has for us. If that love is strong and without any fear, then we are unstoppable.  Fear is defined as an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger.  It does not have to be an actual threat, but our anticipation of a threat. Fear can paralyze us and hinder our faith walk.

We must overcome the fear to show that we’ll obey [...]

Power of Self-Evaluation

The Power of Self Reflection

By: Angeline Lawrence

It’s hard to believe that 2014 is almost over. As many of us have a break over the holidays, it’s a prime opportunity to evaluate ourselves against the Word of God. James 1:23-24 states, ”Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” (NIV)

As Christians, our lives can be living examples of the g [...]

by: Angeline Lawrence

A team can’t work together without effective communication and the sacrifice and endurance of its members.  As fellow Christians, we must seek to work together and be unified as we build God’s kingdom.  I Corinthians 1:10 states, “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in th [...]

Teamwork Makes the Vision Work

By: Angeline Lawrence

The Body of Christ is the vision that God has for His kingdom. I Corinthians 12:3, states, “Even so the body is not made up of one part but many.” (NIV) It is a work of beauty to see the members of the kingdom of God work together in one accord (Psalms 133:1-2). He executes his master plan to fulfill his will within our lives.

How deep is Your Love?

By: Angeline Lawrence

The love that Christ has for us is immeasurable. However, we must show Him the depth of our love through the sacrifices we make in our lives. Matthew 10:38, states, “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.” (KJV)  All of C [...]

No Greater Love By: Angeline Lawrence

No Greater Love

By: Angeline Lawrence

Christ showed us His love with the personal sacrifice He made on Calvary. John 15:13 states, “Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.”(KJV) However, the love of Christ did not end with that act. He continues to love us on an intimate basis.

Today, on this day of Thanksgiving, I want to discuss the intimacy that we can enjoy with Christ. The Songs of Solomon 7:9 states, “And the roof of thy mouth like the best wine for my beloved, that goeth down sweetly, causing the lips of those that are asleep to speak.”
