Peace in the World is Everybody's Business lecture in Soka University’s Recreation Center on September 20, 2007 by Nobel Peace Laureate Betty Williams. First lecture in Soka University’s Distinguished Visiting Speaker Series. Betty Williams was a co-recipient with Mairead Corrigan of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 (the prize for 1976) as a cofounder of Community of Peace People, an organization dedicated to promoting a peaceful resolution to the troubles in Northern Ireland. She heads the Global Children's Foundation and is President of the World Centers of Compassion for Children International.…

Chowdhury, who was the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States from 2003 to June 2007, and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York from 1996-2001. Chowdhury served as President of the Security Council, President of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Executive Board and as Vice-President of the UN Economic and Social Council.
