SuperWisdom -- Taking Back the Bible from the Spiritually Blind
In the 139th Psalm we find, "How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee. Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men."
In the Psalms, the word God represents the Source of thoughts, the originator of all ideas. You "live and move and have your being" (Acts 17:28) in this endless sea of thought. You value these thoughts -- they are precious to you. When you awaken to this Source, you find you never really left it. The dream of a life separate and apart from this prime Source dissolves, and you step forward and claim the Original Life you never really left.
As an echo copies an original voice, so does the natural world echo this prime Source. The natural world, with its flowing waters, butterflies, pleasant breezes and inspiring vistas, can remind us of the Source and its spheres, but if we take the natural world as the real world, we block our perception from penetrating the veil.
Approach the Source, and we experience a buoyancy that thoroughly engages and enjoys the natural world. Christ walking on the water symbolizes this. We touch what never perishes. The shadow world, the echo world, changes its clothes, but the endless thoughts of the Source dwell in the purity of eternity. As we embrace them we quicken inwardly, coming alive in the Spirit while living our natural life on earth.
The last sentence, "Surely thou will slay the wicked…and the bloody men" has nothing to do with rowdy physical people, and a righteous "God" taking care of them. The "wicked" dwell in the bubble of the few decades of existence we seemed to have lived apart from the Source. They resist and reject the new, having settled into familiar patterns of belief. Truth shatters this bubble, and we reunite with the Source. What are a few decades in the face of eternity! It’s a shadow, a dream, with no power to hold you. "Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you," (2 Chronicles 20:17)
The Bible speaks of inner wars, battles, slayings and the like, symbolically. SuperWisdom opens our inner eyes to the great wealth of spiritual knowledge the Bible contains, providing a key you can apply that unlocks its advanced revelations. You take back this valuable book from the hands of the blind.

Seven Views of the V.I. -- The Vast Intelligence
By Tom Russell
1. Spiritual studies exist as a doorway, not a destination. A doorway to what? To a Vast Idea that nourishes and sustains within it all ideas. Picture a blind man touching an elephant and describing what he feels. He picks up certain information by touch, then describes the parts. He does not see the whole elephant, or know what it is. Likewise, spiritual studies describe parts of the elephant. The Vast Idea, referred to as Christ in the Bible, Buddha in Zen, and the Tao in Taoism, does not dwell in verbal concepts. Words may jolt and inspire us to open our own inner eyes, but they cannot convey the actual experience of oneness with the V.I.
2. Sufi writer Idries Shah spoke of how people often attended his talks, claiming that they were tired of books and wanted the "real thing." Shah pointed out how these people were delusional. He told them there was much valuable information to obtain from books, and that it was not his job to personally fill in this information in his personal talks. When people react against books, they miss the point. On the other hand, when they view books or a teacher/organization as the primary means to approach the V.I., they miss the point. The Middle Way taught by Buddha is one of the most useful principles in all of esoteric literature.
3. Picture the V.I. as a fabulous mansion at night. This mansion is your own home. Lights exist within each room. Spiritual awakening is a matter of turning on the lights room by room, and on all the patios. Gradually, your entire property, including the surrounding grounds, lights up. "The kingdom of heaven (the mansion) is within." (Luke 17:21) We light up what already exists inside, room by room.
4. Many rooms in your mansion have not been entered for decades, or longer. When you enter a new room in the mansion, at first you see layers of dust and smell the stale air. Don't leave that room! Turn on the lights. Pull the covers off the furniture. Open the windows! Never run away from an uncomfortable place inside. Turn on the lights and get to work.
5. Often people get together to talk about the mansion, the rooms, and the lights. They huddle in one or two rooms of their fifty room mansion. But they just talk talk talk! Refuse to settle down with "like minded people." We are not here on earth to join our spirit with others, but to find the keys to our original inner mansion, and light up every room of the Vast Idea.
6. The V.I. will be original to you. Your approach to it will be original. Your expression of it will be original. Once activated, how you live and think will not be like anyone else on earth. It's just fine for a certain spiritual path to get us up and going, but the problem is, 99% of them never want to end! They advertise and proclaim what they can never do, which is to take you to the V.I. We reach the point where we must dare to leave kindergarten. "Nature never duplicates a path." (Vernon Howard)
7. The V.I. knows how to play, how to laugh, how to enjoy this life to the fullest. In no hurry to get anywhere, including enlightenment, the V.I. savors the simple moment and all it brings.
1. A spiritual leader with an unopened inner eye is nothing more than a teacher learned in the sayings of old masters. This will be of little use to him when dealing with the great matter of life and death. It will be like a picture of rice cakes for a starving body. Three yards of explanation doesn't equal one foot of realization. That is why the buddhas...all pointed directly to the person's mind to make him realize that seeing into his own nature is Buddhahood. (Zen Master Bassui)
2. This Work trains us to observe where we are internally. Each of us dwells somewhere in a vast psychological country...In this inner psychological space, only apprehended by the inner senses, it is possible for a man or woman to spend their lives in a very bad part of it, without ever realizing it. In the Work we seek to change our habitat internally. (Maurice Nicoll)
3. Self-knowledge is not an ultimate end; it is the only opening wedge to the inexhaustible. (J. Krishnamurti)
4. What do sad people have in common? It seems they have all built a shrine to the past. And often go there and do a strange wail and worship. (Sufi poet Hafiz)
5. What is the difference between self-improvement and self-perfecting? Self-improvement is an arrangement of something that already exists. Self-perfection is an actualization of potentialities not yet developed. (C.S. Nott - Fourth Way)

#164: The Four Zones of Beingness and the Secret of Spontaneity
This podcast explores the four zones of Beingness -- Red Zone, Yellow Zone, Green and Blue Zone. Discover how one's unfolding Essence can oscillate between the Green and Blue Zones. What elements make up each zone? This live talk by Tom Russell uses the power of story and imagery to convey practical information that can serve you for the rest of your life. Read Article published about "The Four Zones of Beingness."
The Zones Described
RED: The red zone is made up of memories, tendencies and reactions based on worry, blame, hostility, self-condemnation, painful demands and lingering regret.
YELLOW: In the yellow zone positive influences converge toward one’s wish to break free of the red zone and regain one’s spiritual purpose. The yellow zone is the domain of books, classes, teachers comprising a library of information and techniques – some discovered (by your personal experimentation) to be of greater usefulness than others.
GREEN: Spontaneity, flexibility, empathy and happiness blossom in the green zone. Life lives itself directly and not through the filter of techniques and influences. The color green connects with the season of spring and its budding new life.
BLUE: Ralph Waldo Emerson once described the blue zone this way: “The soul’s communication of truth is the highest event in nature, and this communication is an influx of the Divine Mind into our mind. Every moment when the individual feels invaded by it is memorable…†The blue zone is the sudden and unplanned entrance (usually brief) of the Cosmos of Ideas into the receptive space of a clear, playful and unfettered mind.
Ten Profitable Connections
1. Yellow zone techniques serve to bring the green zone into view. From the green zone of contentment and unfiltered perception, the blue zone may occasionally appear.
2. Yellow zone techniques get stale if overused. No one technique works indefinitely, though after setting it aside for awhile one can profitably cycle back. To perceive the limits of techniques, while working to develop mastery in their use, facilitates one’s approach to the green zone. The blue zone touches the green zone, not the yellow zone.
3. One naturally oscillates on this scale. For example, some people have driven themselves frantic trying to recreate a blue zone experience. Something happened, yes, but the harder one tried with yellow zone techniques and red zone demands, the further the blue zone seemed to recede.
4. The red zone reacts with every touch of the blue zone. The immense power of the blue zone stirs up the red zone, making the patient and persistent use of yellow zone techniques profitable and necessary.
5. When possible, associate with yellow/green zone incliners and avoid chronic red zoners. Red zoners sometimes pose as false positives, pretending interest in yellow zone influences with the aim of keeping you corralled. You often see them as “loyal fixtures†at spiritual groups! They tend to gravitate towards positions of influence and power in organizations, sometimes even being skilled speakers and writers. Also be leery of the hypnotic power of television – the primary dissemination tool of the red zone! Yes, there are some great movies out there but they are few and far between.
6. Time slows in the green zone. The simplest acts, like a breath, a walk or drink of water reveal depths of pleasure and connection previously unperceived. What two words best describe the green zone? Engaging and fun!
7. Let’s highlight once again the importance of oscillation and movement on this scale. One allows himself to float, giving up the tense battle to maintain a position. Occasional blue zone visits alternate with the green zone, a plunge into the yellow zone when warranted, and perhaps even the red zone, though the red zone now taste like leather, devitalized, and one harbors no desire to linger there.
8. Increasingly unattached to the red zone, your sparks of awareness and vitality move throughout your system to free more lifetrons. Speaking in spiritual symbolism the Bible declares, “The rich get richer.†For example, energy wrapped around early childhood and family memories free up. One’s yellow zone associations with particular teachers and programs release with great relief. This release grants respect and gratitude to one’s teachers instead of unhealthy reverence that can deteriorate into red zone agonies. Only the blue zone warrants reverence.
9. A vast and expanding ocean of energy now honors your intentions. You find yourself much more resilient and able. People sink into discouragement and apathy because of low energy levels.
10. You exist in the blue zone as an Idea. Christ, Buddha, Rabia, Lao Tzu, and the super wise woman running the local grocery store in 1832 that no seeker ever knew about, all discovered the idea within the mind of God/Truth/Reality that is themselves. Like snowflakes, each one expresses pure originality. What you discover in the blue zone has never been found before, since no one else can find YOU.
Attaching color to a field of activity can facilitate connections and differentiation. Remembering a color can help bring back into consciousness all one has learned about that field.

This podcast explores Jeanne's question:
"Around three years ago, I went through a period of time during which I was able to see and understand the meaning behind Work ideas that I'd just been reading about for twenty years. For example, one ordinary day sometime back in early 2005, I was involved in some routine task when suddenly I was standing outside myself observing 'Jeanne', my personality. During this time, I seemed to have an unusual amount of energy. Also, I was suddenly interested in non-Work related things that I'd never been particularly interested in before; astronomy, organic chemistry, neurology.
"This unusual state seemed to last for months, but gradually it ebbed away. I still have an i-Pod full of educational podcasts; however, lately I've been feeling as though I were slogging through deep mud.
"I have two questions for you. First, how do you recharge when you are 'running on empty'. Second, is it really possible not to identify when loved ones are suffering? This second question is not a rhetorical question, I'm ready to learn how. Thanks, I'll be listening."
Jeanne (Georgia, USA)
